great!
04 November 2007
my partner and i had a smashing time. its a lovely hotel the room was spotless and we were pleasantly suprised to have a suite rather than just a room which was wonderful..... the only down side for us was teh lack of sunshine at the pool area( us being sun worshipers)... due to it being enclosed by the hotel itself. but would be great for families with small children or elderl;y who dont like too much open sun.The food was marvelous with great choice and the beach was 2 mins away.... great place to stay would def go again! central for everything but peaceful enough to relax

A Fabulous Holiday
17 October 2007
We could not believe our luck with this hotel. On arrival the reception staff were extremely friendly, and had us checked in and up in our room within 5minutes. It could not be better located for literally everything you would need. The beach is less than 2 minutes walk away. A multitude of shops and restaurants are right on your doorstep. We stayed half board however, and we could not find any fault with the food. The buffet was constantly replenished by the chefs, and the restaurant staff are efficient and courteous. The beach is lovely, although the sea during our visit was a little rough for swimming. Try the sun loungers at Carolina or Tucan Beach. Francisco is a lovely guy and always trys to make you happy with your choice of sun bathing area. 2 Sunbeds, parasol and table 8euros. Bargain!!! Shopping is good in La Carihuela, but there are some very good shops in neighbouring Torremolinos as well, especially for perfumes etc.
We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone, especially those who maybe need to use mobility chairs or walking sticks. The traffic free promenade and the shopping streets are all marble, and spotlessly clean.
Just be careful with your handbags when in restaurants and shops though. Although nothing untoward happened to us during our stay, we did hear that a couple of people had had handbags snatched from under restaurant tables. Please do not let this put you off visiting this beautiful area of the Costa Del Sol. We will certainly be back in 2008 for another visit. We LOVED IT!!!!!!

Very clean hotel in the heart of Carihuela. Easy access to all amenities. Room we stayed in was large split level. Twin beds in one area and lounge area separate. Food in hotel was not very good but this could have been because it was January and not many people were staying there. Would use the hotel again, think it would be very nice in summer because the pool area is good and it is very close to the beach.

Review of 'ROC LAGO ROJO'
08 November 2006
We (my partner, daughter and myself) have just had 4 days (4 nov-7th nov) at this hotel which, apart from the weather, was really good. The hotel room was in two sections, the top part had two beds which were divided by a curtain and steps to the lower section, which had a bed settee. Our view was over the Carihuela Palace Park (which i own a timeshare appartment at) We stayed here because it is in a perfect location, a few seconds walk from the carihuela beach and shops, within 10 minutes walk to the marina at Benalmadena or 15 minutes along the beach to Torremolinos. The appartment also had air conditioning which i found very useful as i like a very cold room at night (which also keeps the mosquitos away). I requested a top floor apartment and had exactly that (there are only 4 floors) also we never heard any noise from other guests at any time, or from outside traffic. Food. The restraurant was selfservice buffet, with a good choice and always something for everyone. Maid service was every day. There is a good swimming pool for guests if required. I would recommend this hotel to everyone

This was the second time i have stayed at the Roc Lago Rojo and find it in an ideal location, close to the beach and local shops yet quiet enough for rest and relaxation.Comfortable rooms and friendly staff will ensure that i return in 2007.

Great hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Very close to the beach (1 minute max!). Good public areas and nice pool area (although shaded in the afternoon). Bedrooms are large, clean and very comfortable but a little old in style (they are upgrading the decor at the moment). Excellent for a budget break in Carihuela. Great location in Carihuela but within walking distance of Torremolinos and Benalmadena. Stayed there three times now. Ask for a pool view room as the bins are emptied at 3.00am every day on the other side of the hotel and they don't do it quietly!

Hotel is in a very good position to take advantage of the many good restaurants in this part of torremolinos, it is also handily placed for the beach and shopping.I have stayed here a couple of times now on a winter's golfing break and would do so again. The food in the hotel is not great and the rooms are basic, but clean. Staff are friendly and it has a nice bar and entertainments area.

Review of 'ROC LAGO ROJO'
10 July 2005
Just come back from a wonderful holiday here. Wasn't sure what to expect when we were told it was in the suburbs of Torremolinos.....but what a wonderful hotel and location this is. The hotel is situated very central with just a couple of strides to the beach and the numerous shops, restaurants and bars virtually outside the hotel. The rooms are spacious, clean, attended to by a maid daily and ours used to put fresh cut flowers in our empty water bottles every day such a lovely thoughtful touch. The rooms have a lounge with sofa and TV leading out to the balcony and a fully equipped bathroom with bath and shower. The much needed air conditioning is free with a small charge if you want to use the safe in your room. They had a heatwave when we were there temperatures 38 - 42 degrees! The food is plentiful but limited choice though the friendliness, location, and entertainment more than make up for it. We are going back at Christmas and we NEVER go anywhere twice! GO!!!!!! it is a rare find and you will adore and fall in love with this little part of Spain WE HAVE!!!! It is 5 euros by taxi to go to Torremolinos for more shopping and nightlife. The sunbeds on the beach are 8 euros per day for 2 sunbeds and a parasol. Don't exchange any money in the hotel though the rate is abysmal and there are commission free exchanges in the resort.

Stayed there last October. Excellant food with a good choice of meat and fish. Public rooms of a high standard but our room, though clean and tidy had seen better days. We are going back there again because of its great position, (although there is no view) food and the relaxing atmosphere. A good place for a chill out before winter.
