Great hotel in great location
03 July 2009
I did a lot of research before chosing this hotel for a two week holiday in June. Most comments that I had read about the hotel were positive while one in particular said the people were eaten alive by mosquitos.
Everything about this hotel is superb.
Unlike many hotels, this one is a three story hotel to blend in with the other buildings in the Benalmadena Marina which is directly across the road from the hotel.
We were greeted on our arrival with a glass of sparkling wine - a nice touch to set the tone for the holiday. Staff in every section of the hotel from reception to household to dining room were extremely friendly and helpful.
The bedrooms were spacious and spotlessly clean and there was a daily room service with frequent linen and towel changes.
The pool area was spacious and there was an abundance of sunbeds. Pool towels could be obtained from the hotel reception for a refundable deposit of €10 per towel and towels could be exchanged daily at no charge.
The dining room was well appointed with tables both inside and outside. The food at both breakfast and dinner was one of the highest standards that we have encountered in all of our travels so far. The cost of half board compared with B&B only is €8-€10 and is very good value. The quality and variety of food at both breakfast and dinner was exceptional.
We would think that this hotel is more suitable for couples than for families as we were not aware of any organised activities for children.
The hotel is located in the Marina area. There is a bus service nearby that serves the general area from Malaga to Marbella and beyond.
We would highly recommned this hotel and will be returning.

This Hotel was really nice, however the hotel is not really children friendly. The staff are very good with the children, but there was no kids club and you aren't allowed any inflatables in the pool! We have 2 children 4 and 2 and we didn't stay at all in the hotel during the day because there was nothing for them to do!!!!
the food was very nice and the room was too. The drinks were quite expensive especially soft drinks for the children!!!! If you have no children this hotel would be good.
Its in a good location right by the marina and 1 minute walk to the beach.

We came here for a 4 night break and were very pleased with the standard of accommodation. The Riu is situated in a lovely spot, very close to the beach, shops and Marina. The staff were extremely helpful and professional and could not do enough to help. They either enjoy their work or are highly trained to give that impression. I travelled in a mixed age group, from 19-70+, and although the clientele is predominantly older, we all enjoyed our stay. Rooms are of a good standard and very clean. Meals plentiful, and on the whole a good variety. Drinks not particulary expensive for a hotel. Entertainment geared to the older generation, but we weren't expecting anything different. All in all, a great hotel, and would use it again.

Review of 'Riu Marina Benalmadena'
19 January 2007
Excellent hotel, nice rooms and very clean. The hotel caters for the older generation but has not got a lot for children to do. The entertainment is not great, but adequate if you want to spend a few hours in the bar. The location is great for the marina area and 5 mins to the 24hr square for the younger generation. Taxi cost from malaga is 20 euro.

Review of 'Riu Marina Benalmadena'
18 January 2007
This hotel is in a excellent location right next to the marina, I would say that in high season it may get a little noisy with the bars across the road. The hotel itself is wonderful ,clean and all you would expect from the riu group. The rooms are spacious with mini bar, air con and ceiling fan. The hotel food is excellent and the staff very polite and helpful.

We have just had a 2 day break at this hotel and found the staff to be very efficient, friendly and helpful. The hotel is within 2 minutes of the marina. The food was very good with an excellant buffet with a very large variety. At night the cabaret in the bar was very professional.Although the weather was sunny ,it was not weather for sunbathing but the pool area was very nice with plenty of sunbeds and the pool was heated. The bedrooms were a good size but ours looked out over the back of the hotel ,so it would be better to ask for one overlooking the pool.

Review of 'RIU MARINA BENALMADENA'
02 May 2006
From the moment of our arrival to our departure we found the hotel staff to be friendly, helpful and professional. The food was plentiful , varied and healthy (except the sweet courses!!). Our room was kept tidy and clean by what seemed an army of maids. The evening entertainment was quite classy without being snobby. The hotel itself is splendidly located both for local travel and travel further afield. Yes, there is a certain amount of noise from all the nearby eating and entertainment places and probably this would be more noticeable in the summer months----over the winter period it was not a problem. We would definitely stay there again.

Review of 'RIU MARINA BENALMADENA'
27 September 2005
September 2005, New hotel only open 3 month. Bedroom plenty of space balcony, air con, ceiling fan. Staff very helpful and friendly. Restaurant two sittings, use any table for breakfast and designated table for dinner. Fantastic selection of food at all sittings. Only downside with the hotel, near all the bars and night clubs which on certain nights can be rather noisy. Central location near Marina for either promenades.
