Enjoyed my stay!
31 July 2008
This is an excellent hotel. The rooms were very clean and spacious. Toilet was spotless. We had half board and breakfast was always very very good with an excellent spread. Dinner on the other hand tended to vary between acceptable and good (also with a decent spread). Staff were friendly and pleased to help. No complaints about the swimming pool either and it is situated right next to the beach for easy access.

Fabulous Holiday!
31 July 2008
If you're looking to get away from it all for 6 days and 5 nights (ah, one can't be too specific with details), Riu Belplaya is THE perfect place. Think about a clean, spacious comfortable room, friendly, helpful hotel staff, a gorgeous view of the beach and sea and it's enough to make you want to extend your stay. Because that's exactly how we felt when it came to our last day...the food (dinner and breakfast) was of good quality and had enough variety to keep us interested. Kudos to the vegetarian chef whose delicious vegetarian concoctions got us wondering what would be served next! Breakfast was hearty as well, with nicely done pancakes and churros. The poolside was also a great place to hang out, play some water polo or work on your tan! At night, there was a special flamenco performance that was entertaining and the cocktails were a great cap to a relaxing day....
In addition to all that, the 5 nights package was more than reasoably priced. I can't wait to come back!

Lovely Hotel
27 June 2008
This was our first visit to the Riu Belplaya. An excellent hotel, good sized rooms, excellent food and staff very friendly and helpful. English in the minority. Evening entertainment average and only a small portable television in the bar area for any main events i.e. Euro 2008. The hotel was situated a good walk from the town but local bus service very good into town. This is the 2nd Riu hotel we have stayed in and the high standard was maintained throughout. Overall an enjoyable holiday.

we stayed at the riu belplaya for the first time,we found it to be excellent, the staff were very friendly ,the food was very good show cooking each week ,a carvery each night if you wanted it,the rooms were very clean and the pool area was lovely,we had orange juice on arrival and a bottle of wine was brought to our table as a gift as it was my wifes birthday, the only downside was the location you are at the wrong end of torremolinos so you need to a bit of walking ,but this is not bad my wife and i did the walk and it was very relaxing, the hotel is mainly german bot dont let that put you off they are actually very polite people, we had no problem with them at all ,definately book with alpha rooms again 10/10

Lovely hotel in a quiet area
02 October 2007
This is our first visit to the Riu Belplaya, an excellent hotel with very good staff. We paid extra for a room with seaview(well worth it). The food was varied and very good. Situated in a very quiet area of Torremelinos. A good walk into the town The clientele were mostly german. Plenty of room around the pool and plenty of sunbeds. Not many children which is a good thing and the average age would be 60+.

Thank you to the riu Belplaya for making my dissabled father's stay very enjoyable
08 June 2007
Would certainly recommend this hotel to any disabled solo traveller. My father stayed for one week in May. I live close by and was so impressed to see the attention my father was given by all the staff. He will be using this hotel everytime he visits me from now on. The hotel attracts a good mix of people, so there is always some body to talk to and the atmosphere is very friendly.

Lovely clean and well decorated hotel, bright and cheerful. The staff were friendly and helpful , and the rooms were a good size with everything you need. The food was well presented with plenty of choice, some dishes were cooked in front of you. Good location right on the beach front in a quieter location on outskirts of torremolinos town, likely to be a lot busier in high season. Bus and rail service nearby, which are reliable clean and easy to use, far better than those in Britian. We went end of January 07 when the weather was not quite as warm as we would have liked, although the bedrooms were heated, the bar and restuarant was a little cool. Prices in the bar were less than a euro more expensive than the surrounding bars and they were far more generous measures. Although we don't go on holiday to watch TV, because some days the weather was not good it would have been nice to have some english channels available other than the news. We would recommend this hotel, we had a truly relaxing week.

Have just returned from a brilliant weekend at Riu Belplaya, the hotel is fantastic, the staff were wonderful especially Rafael. The rooms were spacious and clean we couldn't have asked for better. The location of the hotel is just right, close to the beach, lots of good shops and bars close by and not to far to walk into Torremolinos. Food at the hotel was ok but better instruction would have helped. Airport is not far cost 1.15 euro by train to La Colina and only 13 euro by taxi. I would love to go back but would warn people that this hotel is mostly full of 'old' people who do not like laughter.

This hotel definately lives up to its 4 stars.Friendly staff from the receptionists to the cleaners.Nothing too much trouble.Rooms spacious, cleaned daily, and enough hangers to accomodate both of us!.We stayed half board and the food was more than adequate.Hot and cold buffet style breakfast[english and continental].Evening meals consisted of soups, salads, various meat and fish dishes and desserts. The husband is quite a fussy eater but he always managed to find something to have.We did not stay in for the evening entertainment so cannot offer any comments on this.Overall we had a really good week at this hotel and if we decide to go back to the costa del sol, would use this hotel again.

Absolutely superb hotel. Location was great. Accomodation was excellent, plenty of space. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Dining was a treat, lots of choice and lots of helpful staff. Pool area, although quite small for the size of the hotel, was not overcrowded and the pool was great. We would definately re-visit.

Review of 'RIU BELPLAYA'
09 July 2006
I have stayed at this hotel twice, as a couple and I have also been with friends and we all have found this hotel great. The staff are very welcoming with a lovely refreshing drink while they sort out our rooms. These were on the 7th floor overlooking the beach, they were large and airy with sat.t.v. so we could sit in bed with a cuppa (my own kettle etc) and watch sky news before we all go down for a fantastic choice for breakfast, can get rather busy and some food does tend to run out rather quickly ie scrambled eggs bacon, so getting down there a little earlier if you want an english breakfast, lots of other choices including all diet foods for the slimmer amongst you, cottage cheese, skimmed milk, fresh fruit, yogarts, the choice is huge. Dinner at night again a fantastic selection, cannot help piling on the pounds. Good promanade to walk off your dinner, walk to Benalmadena with all the other promanada's at night, lovely atmosphere, lots of bars, try the spanish ones on the beach much cheaper than the english and a bit more sophisticated. Going again in January 07 for 4 night break, weather will be a lot better than in England. If you can eat a lunch in one of the spanish restaurants on the beach, this is where all the spanish eat, the food is fabulous, the waiters tend to speak mostly in spanish so a little of the lingo will go a long way.You will not be disappointed with this hotel.

The Hotel was lovley and clean especially the important areas like public bathrooms around the pool area. Probably the cleaniest we Have stayed in. The room was a good size and the decor pleasent the bathroom was fine but may have benefitted from a little updating. We Have just returned from a 10 day stay at the RUI BELPLAYA and considering it was school hoidays, ther were very few children. The majority of guest were germans and spanish, then scandanavian & French and lastly english. The food was excellent and we couldn't complain about anything there are 2 sittings in the restaurant 6.30pm and 8.10pm you decide which you prefer and keep that time and have your own table each evening for the duration of your stay. Breakfast is more relaxed and you can sit where ever you would like. The clientel was mostly mature couples which led to a relaxed laid back atmosphere. The staff were extremely pleasent and helpful and really attentive to our 4year old. During the day they had different activitis such as Skittles contest, table tennis , rifle shooting and the animation team was a great guy called Jose who didnt force anyone to do anything they didn't want to. The hotel is situated approx 20 to 30 min walk into torromolinos centre. There is a train station just 10 mins round back of hotel where you can get a train in to fuengarolla or bus stops on the main raod with regular routes. The beach is great with lots of sun beds available.

A wonderful 5 day break, the hotel was certainly 4 star. The food was excellent and the rooms were well appointed and clean, minibar ect. Seperate toilet and bathroom was a first for my hotel visits to Spain. The hotel is ideally placed on the beach with a bars and restaurants nearby. You are about a mile from the resort centre but it is easy walk. My only negative comment I have been visiting Spain for 25 years, it was the first time I saw that residents didn't take wine with their evening meal. The reason was due to the price, they selling wine which you buy in the supermarket next door for 3 euros for between 12 to 16 euros. The hotel staff were helpful and friendly. I have no reservations in recommending this hotel.

Review of 'RIU BELPLAYA'
13 March 2006
After reading a bad review for this Hotel I started to wonder what it would be like. However, any fears were soon dispelled when we arrived at this lovely Hotel. The staff were very, very friendly and the room was really spacious and nicely fitted. We arrived late and were greeted with fresh orange juice and a cold buffet as the restaurant had closed for the evening. This is only our second stay in Southern Spain, the first being last November in a 3 star in the centre of Torremolinos. The Riu Belplaya was a Rolls Royce compared to the previous hotel. The breakfasts and evening meal were superb with fantastic choices and expertly presented. The only down side was the distance to the centre of Torremolinos (about 15 minutes walk). However, there is a taxi rank outside and for 5 - 7 euros you can take a ride into town. The fare to the airport was only 12 euros which was fantastic. If, like us, you choose the early dinner sitting which is around 6 o'clock, you have to stay in the hotel and watch the entertainment as it is quite a hassle to go back into town after dinner, particularly if you have been sightseeing all day. Please take note and do not follow previous advice about getting of at La Colina Station, particularly if you have travelled by train from the airport. When it is dark you cannot possibly find your way, it is much better to get a taxi straight there (I wish we had). On summing up, the Riu Belplaya was excellent, we only spent five nights there but I wish it could have been a lot longer. Oh! and by the way, the weather was fantastic !!!

We will definitley be staying there again in the future.

Spent 5 nights here early Feb 06. Located on the seafront road about 20 yds from the beach at one end of the long promenade so if you want to get to the centre of the resort it's always a 20 min walk. The hotel is clearly 4*. We were greeted on arrival by name without having to identify ourselves - they were clearly expecting us. Excellent rooms and public areas - the bedroom was the best we've encountered. First class service - one evening the bulbs in the bedside lamp and the freestanding lamp failed. They were replaced within 2 hrs. Friendly staff through out the hotel. Food varied and plentful but nothing special - usual buffet fare. Evening entertainment a bit disappointing. Would we stay there again? Yes.

very nice hotel, the staff was extremely nice and polite and helpfull at all times.I went in december so the hotel was not crowded and all the facilities were easy to use. There is a very nice garden area with pool and bar. The food was plentyfull with lots of choice. It is of course a buffet which personally I don't like but I cannot complain about the food itself. Very nice big single room with a big bathroom and seaview. I would just like a more modern shower. The hotel is rather far from the centre of Torremolinos but is next to the beach and in a very quiet area. There is a bus and a trainstation nearby. All in all very good and really excellent staff , I had to wait 5 minutes for my table and they immediately offered me a drink in the bar and the hotel director himself came to the bar to escort me to my table !

Review of 'RIU BELPLAYA'
06 December 2005
We've just returned from our first and it certainly wont be the last stay at Riu Belplaya. Throughout our break I knew I would come back and let everyone know how super we thought the hotel, the staff and the food was. We booked the Hotel after reading other reviews and decided to follow their recommendation. How glad we were. From start to finish the Rui provided an outstanding service. Greeted with fresh orange juice on arrival, immaculate clean rooms, friendly service from all of the staff, entertainment and decent weather, what more could we ask for, in a 4 day break. The Riu is close to the railway which provided cheap efficent transport, A train each way erevy half an hour. Enabling us to visit all the towns within the area. Remember to keep those coins to feed the ticket machines. Torremolinos was walkable, but we cheated taking the train and walked back. If you intend to take the train from the airport you need to get off at La Colina - its a 10 minute walk from there - dont get off at Torremolinos too far! The surrounding area was quite but there were bars etc - we liked that as it was away from the hustle and bustle of the towns but not too far away to visit. The pools both indoor and outdoor were extremely clean and well kept - the whole hotel was looked after and furnishings etc were of a high standard. There were very few children in the hotel and I did feel it was more suited at this time of year to more mature guests. Ther wasn't a great deal for children to do. Staff were friendly and helpful, to the couples I saw who did have children. Food was superb, the dining room was spacious airy and light - it was a pleasure to dine there. A wide variety of choice to suit all tastes and the puddings were delightful!!! I hope that you can tell we had a fabulous few days, a brilliant break just before Christmas - we will be back the same time next year. I am also going to look at the rest of the Rui group to see where they have hotels - I will certainly visit another of the group to see if they match up. Rui Bel Playa has set the standard. Go on if you want a break - pamper your self at Rui Belplaya.

I have stayed in this hotel on a number of occasions and have found it to be consistently faultless. Same staff for years too which I feel is a very good sign. Food excellent, quality and variety first class. Hotel is kept in immaculate order. Location is perfect, across the seafront promenade from the beach and most rooms with lovely sea views. While the hotel is on the beach it is nonetheless on nice grounds with pool setting it back from the seafront and thus maintaining a soothing relaxing atmosphere. Helpful and friendly staff add to the enjoyment of one's stay. I would heartily recommend this hotel to anyone.

Review of 'RIU BELPLAYA' quick break
12 November 2005
We arrived at approx. 3.00pm and were checked in within minutes, a nice touch was a chilled orange juice served to you as the formalities were done. The hotel, as some do, shows no sign of wear and tear, the room was immaculate with a good size balcony with a sea view. Breakfast is served from 0800 to 1030 and the choice and quality of food on offer was excellent. A good choice of snacks was available from the pool bar at lunch time, not that we needed one after such a good breakfast. Dinner was in two sittings 1800 or 2000 hrs. so take your pick, again the choice on offer was amazing and the quality first class. After dinner there was live entertainment in the lounge bar. The hotel is right on the promenade, with a number of bars, shops etc.within a few minutes walk. Torremollinos is within walking distance but if you dont fancy a walk then there is a taxi rank right outside the hotel. We had an early flight home but were able to have breakfast at 5.30am once again a surprise. We really could not fault this hotel..go on treat yourselves to a quick break

I fancied a weekend away after my hectic birthday week and this was ideal- my only complaint would be that the sun area was too crowded in the afternoon and that there were no English patrons staying there at all nice as they were they were all German?!
I had a leisurely breakfast at the buffet then a walk along the sea front for lunch before returning to the hotel for my evening meal- the evening entertainment ended a bit early for my liking (10.30pm) but then most of the other guests had retired anyway!
It deserves all 4 of its' stars but you should explain at check-in what is available as I had to keep asking!

This is the second time we have been to this hotel and we found it just as friendly and efficient as the first time. I feel there is a relaxed atmosphere here you are never on your guard as in some hotels. The meals were very good, anyone complaining about the choice and standard of the food must be very very fussy. The head waiter couldn't do enough for us to ensure we had the table we wanted. The rooms are very clean and comfortable in fact we shall be back again for some more rest and relaxation next year.

This is the first time we have stayed at this hotel. We both found it very clean and well run the staff were friendly and helpful. There was no hassle to get a sunbed around the pool, and there are waiters and waitresses walking around the pool area who will bring you drinks so there is not need to move, the food was excellent with some of it cooked fresh in front of you. Although Torremolinos has not enjoyed good publicity in a number of years, we went in May and it was nice a peaceful. There is a taxi rank just outside of the hotel so no problems getting a return taxi to the airport. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

The rooms are well equiped including a mini bar but they have room to put your own drinks in. They are very clean and towels are changed daily. The only negative is they would benefit from tea/coffee facilities. The food is varied and cooked fresh in front of you at two show cooking stations. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We have stayed there three times and have booked a short break there in April. There are a couple of bars opposite the entrance and some local bars 5mins down the road. This hotel is about 3km from Torremolinos centre which you can walk to in about 20 mins. The area is more residential but the beach is only over the road. The bus stops outside the hotel and the train station is a 10 min walk. The train is inexpensive and runs from Malaga to Fuengirola (including the airport stop). The stations are announced in english as you approach each one. There is also a free bus from the hotel next door that takes you to a new shopping/entertainment complex called Plaza Mayor. All in all a good 4* hotel in a quiet location but well placed to visit the area.

A great hotel that is clean, tidy, has good service with friendly staff. Excellent cuisine that offers a full of choice of menu and different each day. We visited the hotel in February 2005 and found a cosmopolitan atmosphere of mainly retired people enjoying 1-3 months stay (apparently cheaper than living at home and of course much better weather). Although, lots to do in the area for the younger visitor and somewhere we would definitely stay again on a return visit to Torremolinos. Whilst we are not yet of retirement age, we are certainly giving thought to enjoying the winter sun in such surroundings when we are.
