Had a lovely stay at The Riga Hotel excellent location opos. the opera house. Not a 4 star in our terms but spotlessly clean, rooms decor could do with updating as could the shower system but the bath was great , staff friendly room was cleaned and towel change every day.Breakfast very basic. The trams, shuttle busses and electric busses are tremendous value at about 70 cent for a 20 minute journey. Would recommend this hotel for a good value stay and would stay again myself.

Good hotel in great location. Easy to walk to the main attractions and pubs/clubs. Service was good and the staff helpful and friendly. We were even allowed a late check out which was very useful! However the beds were uncomfortable.

We stayed here for 4 nights in November. We thought the place was great, service was spot on and you could not get a better location. We were on the 6th floor and the room was fine with a well stocked mini bar. The shower was hot but the bath was not scalding which is what I like. Definately stay here again and will recommend this to our friends

The Riga Hotel

08 August 2007
The Riga Hotel is set in the perfect location and will ensure you don't waste money on taxi fares. Using alpharooms I got a good price but would not pay the full hotel room rate. The room was a decent size but stuffy and only had a balcony window to open which sounds nice but looked out on the dirty back yard of the hotel and the small balcony had LOTS of fresh pigeon droppings all over it, I chose not to open the curtains and look out too often, the bedding as also uncomfortable. The bathroom was really good with a full size bath (but no dedicated shower) a toilet, wash basin and bidet. One wall socket I used was virtually hanging out of the wall and needed repairing and the TV channels are virtually non existent, especially if you are English speaking as the only one you will get is BBC news 24 and there are no extra sky TV type channels or pay channels at all. The mini bar had a lock and contained miniature bottles of drink as well as peanuts, chocolate and cola but was expensive and you are better off shopping locally. Trouser press was included and the hotels dry cleaning service is pretty cheap at 50p to £5 per item. The buffet breakfast was minimal and I'd consider a lot of the products used of fairly low quality but ok if you want something very basic for breakfast. The fresh fruit was probably fresher several days ago, the bacon was the kind of bacon with 30% meat and 70% fat attached to it and the cooked vegetables were flavourful but the kind that had gone all tough and were probably past their best. Other things on offer were eggs, meats, pastries, juices and hot beverages. There is also a nice restaurant in the hotel which does serve a nice meal but at hotel prices. Room service is also available but again there is not much choice. The hotel has a business suite which consists of 2 very slow old pcs and a printer and costs from £3 per hour, very expensive when u consider the internet cafe 200 yards away with modern pcs is £1 for 3 hours! The staff were helpful with good English and the hotel looks very nice inside but doesn't carry this over into the room decor! Extra info for the stag night guys: the guide I hired told me after 11pm the hotel security charges a £40 surcharge if you are caught trying to get ‘a friend’ back to your room. Final word: not a 4 star in my opinion, try the metropolis hotel just down the road for a more comfortable room, although the breakfast and business suite are just as bad.

Hotel Riga is situated very close to the old Town. The room in the 6th floor was basic but o.k. , comfortable bed & very good view to the opera and the park. The bathroom however could definitely do with a renovation. The water pressure of the shower was a bit low. The sauna in the basment was really a bit of a shock. (Dark narrow sulky passageway, dreadful hygiene ) The lobby was quite acceptable. The staff was helpful and fiendly.

The hotel Riga is in an excellent location, right on the edge of the Old Town. The room was nice and clean, with a Queen Size bed, the bathroom was small and dark and the shower was rubbish! Our room was on the 6th floor overlooking the gardens facing the Opera House which was lovely. I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Riga. Beware!! A taxi from the Airport cost 7 Lats, but a waiting taxi at the hotel cost us 15 Lats back to the airport!!

Good location, room was decent size and clean but a bit old. Could do with decorating. Would stay there again though.

Review of 'RIGA'

Hotel Rega was just fantastic. Everything about the hotel and staff will live in the memory well into the future.
The location of the hotel, right in the centre of Rega, was a bonus.

Keep up the good work. We will be back in the summer to see the contrast from the snowy February 2006.

Thanks for the memories

Review of 'RIGA'

This hotel was ideally placed, right in the centre of the old town.  Very impressive facade, close to the hussle and bussle of the tourist attractions and lively nighlife this wonderful town has to offer.

Inside the hotel, the accommodation was clean, and well maintained.  The hotel room was very quiet, and the staff and service very efficient.

I would definitely recommend the Riga Hotel for anyone travelling on a reasonable budget, wanting to rely on a well placed, clean and pleasant hotel.
