Superb Quiet Hotel

28 January 2010
We have stayed at this Hotel for over 20 years and what keeps us coming back? The Hotel, its cleanliness its staff and its setting on the inlet to Mahon Harbour, the stunning views, the ever changing scenery of Yachts and Cruisers big and small. The local restaurants, your spoilt for choice and all in walking distance from the Hotel. Last but by no means least the woderfull friends we have made over the years that like us keep coming back to the warmest welcome you will ever get anywhere. Our advice is if you want discos and bright lights and fish and chips or hamburgers. DON'T VISIT ,GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Peaceful, with stunning views

Perfect for a relaxing break. Within 15 mins. walk of Cala Fons (lots of small restaurants clustered round a small harbour) and a short bus ride to Mahon. Very well maintained hotel, with friendly, helpful staff. The rooms are fairly basic, but quiet and clean, and the hotel's main attraction is the sun terraces with lovely views across the harbour and its large swimming pool. We've stayed here several times before and always find the hotel full of return visitors. It's a real gem.

Having stayed at the Rey Carlos for 1 week we were very pleased with just about everything. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The food was of very good quality and cleanliness was top of the bill. Our only small groan was that the shower in our particular room was not very efficient i.e. very old fashioned. The swimming pool is superb and the view from the pool area absolutely excellent. We wished we had stayed for a fortnight rather than just a week and hopefully will return in the near future.

A hotel is in a quiet locallity with interesting views. The staff are helpful and friendly. The only reservation I had was that dinner was a self service buffet with not a very interesting menu. The pool and sunbathing area was spacious with an adequate number of sunbeds but the sun beds are not very comfortable. The rooms are spacious for this grade of hotel and the bathrooms are of an adequate size but the bath towels are small. Es Castell is not a very interesting place. The only picturesque area of the town is the small waterfront but there is a half hour bus service to Mahon. The lounge and other seating areas are spacious

Review of Rey Carlos III

24 September 2008
Lovely hotel in a fantastic position overlooking the harbour into Mahon. The level of cleanliness was very good indeed, the staff friendly and helpful and our stay was very relaxing. Our only criticism was of the beds: small, low and very uncomfortable for someone with a bad back! All things considered, we had a truly lovely holiday and will definitely be going back.

We have been visiting The Rey Carlos 111 each year for about 20yrs and have always said it is the best 5 star hotel in the med ( although it only has 3 stars ) The nearby Cala Fons is full of character and watching it become simpathetically modernised over the years has been interesting. This hotel is not suitable for people who want lots of lively music and activitiesas it is very quiet and relaxing, but there are plenty of places not too far away with lots going on. We still love watching the shipping traffic pass by all the time.

The Rey Carlos 111 offered a good standard of accomodation,it was in a great position with fantastic views overlooking Mahon harbour.

Our only critism of the hotel was that the rooms could do with modernising.

Good value for the money.

Review of 'REY CARLOS III'

13 October 2005
Having stayed in Es Castell near the Rey Carlos we decided to have a late holiday and stay at the hotel. We will never stay in private self catering accomodation again! Everything about the hotel is quality and it is typically Spanish in feel, from the decor, to the way they try to provide breakfast for the largely English clientel. The rooms are good with a high pressure shower and sunken bath. Only thing to be added there would be a kettle, and nearly all rooms give fabulous views of the harbour. Standards are very high throughout and the staff polite and attentive. Reception staff, in particular Ester, speak good English and will suffer people like me practising their Spanish. Roll on next time.

Review of 'REY CARLOS III'

17 August 2005
The Rey Carlos was everything I could have hoped for when booking my stay in Menorca. The views from the rooms were breathtaking and all facilities were excellent. We used the large clear pool on a daily basis and never had to worry about feeling crowded. The lobby and restaurant, lounges and bar were spacious and clean. For a holiday taken during the high season it was remarkable how quiet but friendly the whole atmosphere of the holiday felt. Superb restaurants within easy walking distance, in a beautiful bay. Excellent sailing and snorkelling facilities and in a part of 'unspoilt' Spain. A fantastic holiday!!

Review of 'REY CARLOS III'

Rey Carlos III is an excellent hotel for singles, couples or families. All families I have experienced staying there have well behaved children so not annoying to couples or singles.
The rooms are simple but clean and comfortable. The breakfasts are excellent and good meals can be taken in the hotel, or snacks by the pool; and all well priced. There are plenty of good restaurants and bars as close as five minutes and no further than 15 minutes walk.
The hotel is set in a beautiful position overlooking the inlet to Mahon. It is fascinating to sit and watch the large liners and ships of all shapes and sizes coming and going. The terraces to the hotel are on 3 levels, the top level with the pool, the next a quiet terrace for sunbathers with access to the bar, and finally the lowest terrace is mostly covered so a good retreat from the sun. From this lowest terrace one can get down to the sea and swim from the rocks. The water is calm and clear with plenty to see for snorkelers.
Last, but by no means least, the staff are fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble. They are good with children as well, making them feel welcome and a part of the big Rey Carlos III family.  I would never look for another hotel in Menorca, this is excellent value and perfect for a sunshine holiday.
