A riotous time at the Reval Express Inn

02 May 2007
Pretty seedy area altogether! The younger Talliners like to hang out just near the hotel which would be quite intimidating if travelling alone.Only a 5 min walk to the Old Town if you can dodge the riot police and local youth!!!Price of hotel shows that you get what you pay for. Yes, it was cheap, and basic, and (kind of) clean. If you're the cool blooded type of person, make sure you take a bit more cash with you.... after all, extra blankets and pillows have to be paid for!!?Don't use the taxis outside the front of the hotel as they are 'on contract' and are a lot more expensive than most. Get the hotel to call another taxi firm for you which they will gladly do.Breakfast is adequate, although 5 days of the same hard boiled eggs and porridge (milk soup) did get a bit boring. Beware, when we were there, they were planning a large development next to the hotel on the waste ground, so the reasonably pleasant view towards Old Town won't be there forever.Hurry up and make a visit as Tallinn itself is certainly worth it.

Reval Express Hotel - Tallinn - Estonia

15 November 2006
The Reval Express is in the Port area of Tallin, not a very picturesque area but only 5 mins walk from the Old Town and excellent for trips to Finland/Sweden/Germany.  There is a bus (No 2) from Tallin Airport which takes you to the Port and then it is only a 5 min walk from the bus stop to the hotel.  The hotel is very clean, modern, no-frills and extremely eco-friendly.  Very friendly staff, a nice bar and cafe area which does an excellent breakfast which is in with the price.  There is free internet use and they even allow pets!!  There are smoking and non-smoking and allergy-friendly rooms to choose from. If you are budget-conscious it is excellent value and its location makes it great for seeing the best bits of Tallin from.  The trams and buses go from across the road and you can walk into the Old Town in 5 mins just by crossing the road.  (Traffic is scary though, be careful!!)
