Stayed for 1 night with 2 friends but had a group of 10 people meeting in room for a hen night. Hotel very basic but what do you expect for £50. Staff were friendly and helpful, our keycard didn't work so they had to make several trips to let us into the room, never once complaining. The room served it's purpose, very happy with same for the price.

Review of 'RENSHAWS'

Renshaws is situated close to Queens University, conveniently located about 10-15 minutes walk from the heart of Belfast.  There are several wonderful restaurants nearby that serve a wide variety of food at reasonable prices and (if that's your 'thing')there are also bars and clubs in the area.

The ensuite room was just fine, if in need of a fresh lick of paint, and the continental breakfast also offered lovely Irish bread (a cooked breakfast is available at extra cost).  The young, friendly staff were unfailingly helpful and retained a sense of humour even whilst having to go back and forth to let guests into their rooms, as the key system was in the middle of being upgraded.

The hotel evidently has a reputation for being a popular party venue, which might put some people off, but our stay was outside term time and so it was perfectly quiet.  Our room was also on the top floor and not at the front, well away from any potential noise, so it might be worth considering asking for a choice of room location.

If you want a no-frills, good value hotel that provides an ideal base for exploring all that Belfast has to offer, then Renshaws is definitely worth considering.

Basic but friendly.A member of our party got stuck in lift - alarm failed to work! When I wrote to the manager he kindly offered 2 free nights b/b for two as recompense - kind offer I thought

If all you are looking for is a bed for the night and aren't to bothered about anything else then this might be the hotel for you. The hotel has seen better days and looks and feels very "tired" and could do with major refirbishment. Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of our friday night stay was a very poor breakfast. As stated by previous reviewers the hotel was virtually costumer free which I feel tells a story. I don't mind hotels which are cheap and cheerful but feel that I only got 50% of the deal. Enough said.

we found the appearence of the hotel a bit off putting when we first arrived but we were only going to be using the beds we had a really nice time so much that we coming back to stay in aug 2005 it a really central hotel close to everything the doorman brian was so nice and we all had a gr8 laugh in the bar as we were the only ones and we had really nice time we were made to feel really welecome but the night porter was not very nice on the sun. other than that it really was worth it and thank you for our gr8 time we will be reccomending it to any pals going to belfast.

We have just returned from a weekend break in Belfast. We booked our hotel based on the price (not an expensive one at all). We thought that the picture was ok nothing really exciting but we were only looking for a bed for a couple of nights and close enough to walk to the city centre. We found the hotel to be a bit run down but staff friendly. The bed and bathroom were clean but the whole room looked as if it needed a bit of hoovering and dusting. We were advised that this was a noisy hotel by our taxi driver, we didn't find this, if anything it was very quiet even with a private party on the premises. The shower needed some attention only a trickle of water but nothing that you can't manage. The bar was very old and in need of a really good clean but the beer was good. There was no real atmosphere because there were hardly any customers. We never tried the bistro bar as we never saw it. We had an enjoyable trip to Belfast but would probably try a different hotel next time.
