Good value for money
01 September 2008
Spent 4 nights at the Regente and it was good value for money. Hotel has been refurbished and has a modern feel to it. Breakfast is a hot and cold buffet. Location is excellent - on the main street (Gran Via) surrounded by shops, theatres, cinemas and metro stops. The Madridvison tour bus stops almost outside of the hotel but most tourist attractions are within walking distance. Would certainly return to this hotel.

I Would Stay Here Again!
16 August 2008
The Regente is a well priced, well located hotel, near metros and just off one of the main streets in Madrid - everything within easy walking distance. My room was extremely comfortable, quiet, clean, decent sized bathroom, the air con was fantastic! The staff at this hotel are extremely helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice to start a busy tourist on her way! I have already recommended the Regente to friends and would choose to stay there again.

I stayed for 3 nights - the location is great, near cinemas, bars restaurants and a varied number of shops. The rooms are basic but have the comforts you need. Staff are very friendly, breakfast is good and served from 7:30 to 10:30am good times - fantastic bar area serving reasonable priced drinks (a lot cheaper than out of the hotel). This was my second time to the hotel - Isabel from Southern Spain

Good Value for Money
08 April 2008
My wife and I stayed at the Regente for four nights (arriving 30 March and departing 3 April 2008). Overall, our experience was very favourable. Our room had been modernised and was clean, comfortable and quiet (with the exception of guests across the hall who could not close the door to their room without slamming it regardless of the hour). Suggestions to the hotel management would be for them to provide specific directions on their webiste about how to travel by metro to the hotel from Barajas Airport (or vice versa) with a mininum number of changes between lines involving dragging luggage up and down stairs; some metro stations have lifts and/or escalators, but who knows that until you get to one. Also, it would be nice if the lights in the gents loo on the reception floor did not go off every minute, especially when one is sitting on the toilet shall we say "conducting other business." These comments aside, we definetely would stay at the Regente again on a future visit to Madrid.

Well worth it
04 December 2007
We had 3 nights at the Regente and it served its purpose manfully. The location was the main reason for choosing it as the hotel is on the main street in Madrid near the shops, bars, metro and a host of other stuff worth seeing. despite this the room was very quiet at night.
It was also very reasonably priced for such a good location and quality of hotel
the rooms were nice with the exception of there only being 1 pillow which had the comfort of a paving slab.
Breakfast was basic but suitable for all levels of a hangover and the bar was reasonably priced despite being ran by a truly terrifying woman. All of the other staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful with a good grasp of English.
Overall a quality hotel in one of the best cities in Europe

For a weekend break..........
05 November 2007
For a weekend break, there are several prerequisites of any city centre hotel, location being the most important. And The Regente scores highly in this regard being close to metro stations and easily accessible from the main Antocha railway station.
The hotel has some sooms that face the Gran Via, and these can be noisy, but our room was towards the rear, with no view, but we weren´t expecting to see much of Madrid by looking out of the window!
The public areas of the hotel were clean, the staff friendly and helpful, and were able to communicate with non-Spanish speakers reasonably well, mainly by using English as a commom language. The bedroom itself was small and a little "tired", but kept clean and all the facilities worked fine.
There is a wireless internet connection facility, but cost €10 per day in your room, however it is available in the bar for €2 for 20 minutes.
The breakfast is self-service, of a good quality with plenty of choice, but the room tends to get very busy.
The hotel provides a "left luggae" facility, so once you have vacated the room you can leave your bags and collect them once you are ready to actually leave. Tourist information is readily available and the front desk will help with booking guided tours if necessary.
As for Madrid itself, the metro is cheap and easy to use, but the best way to find the hidden treasures is to just walk.
The Regente has a lot to recommend it and we would stay there again.

excellent value and worth a revisit
22 October 2007
We had 3 nights in the Regente hotel and it was excellent value. The hotel was spotless. Breakfast was served at a leisurely pace between 7.30 and 10.30am. We found this an excellent start to the day and the choice was more than adequate with a variety of bread, cold meats, cereals etc. The location was ideal and very central. We walked everywhere. The hotel was very quiet despite being so close to Gran Via. The room we had was adequate and cleaned every day, however it was small and we would have liked a view. I would definitely stay at the Regente again but would ask for a room at the front of the building with windows opening onto the street in order to enjoy even more of the buzz of this wonderful city.

Hotel location was excellent from a tourist point of view and was close to a metro station and all amenities.
Room was very clean and adequate. staff spoke a little English and were courteous and helpful. Breakfast was good and varied.
Our room was at the front of the Hotel overlooking Gran Via ---the sound of traffic was a little noisy at night ------but overall we were very pleased with Hotel Regente and would highly recommend it.

Stayed with my daughter for one night. The room was an interior room with no view at all just looking out to other interior rooms, perhaps this was because we only booked one night and because of this it wasn't a problem. Room was very clean, hotel staff extremely courteous, breakfast was good and included with our price but otherwise would not have paid the 9 euros extra as lots of cheap coffee shops around. Good location. Would definitely stay there again.

20 November 2006
Our visit to the Regente was in November for a city break for three nights. My wife had been there before and had been impressed by her stay. The situation of the hotel is excellent, right in the heart of Madrid. The Metro system is a short walk away and is cheap and easy to use. You can travel from the airport to the hotel for about £1. Some of the most famous tourist sites - Prado, Royal palace, Plaza Mayor, El Rastro etc. are all in walking range. You can also walk to dozens of bars and restaurants as the hotel is in such a good central location. The staff at the hotel were welcoming, helpful and polite, some of them having good English which made communication straightforward. The room we stayed in was small and basic but it was clean and comfortable with a good, well appointed bathroom. There were some plumbing noises in the night but it was not a noisy hotel although it seemed quite busy. Breakfast was very good for a three star hotel with plenty of choice of food in a bright clean room with waiter service for coffee etc. If you needed any more food there is a supermarket under a department store two minutes from the hotel door. I would recommend The Regente to friends and I would make it my first choice for an hotel for a future visit.

Excellent base for seeing the sites of Madrid. Despite being right on Gran Via there was no noise from the extremely busy road.Room was very clean, not luxurious but well equipped and staff were helpful.Quiet in bar but with all the night life around you didn't really need it and prices very reasonable for snacks and drinks. Breakfast just what you would expect.Just watch out for pavements in Madrid when it rains, very slippery!!!!

We chose this hotel because of location and it did not dissapoint. Across the road from the hop on hop off bus, which we rode all day. Short straight walk to Puerto del Sol and Plaza Mayor which must be seen. The room was very small and a bit noisy as we were beside lift but it was very pleasant with staff helpful - although little english understood! Overall, a good hotel to see Madrid from if only staying short time

Chose this hotel initially because it said it was on the Gran Via, which is THE place to be it seems. However it is in a small street JUST off it, and to be honest because of this, its quieter. Staff were extremely welcoming and helpful, hotel rooms spotless, and modern, beds extremely comfortable, bathrooms lovely with great showers. Didnt have much of a view,as we were at the back but it was quiet, and suited us well.Although the whole of the hotel was air conditioned, the breakfast room was a little too warm for us, but the quality of the food was excellent, perhaps could have been a little more varied, but both continental and english available.Would DEFINATELY recommend it to all our friends. If you want a FLAMENCO evening with an excellent meal, look no further than 2 paces away from the front door, but dont worry you are not bothered by any noise OR disruption in the hotel.

5 friends of different ages travelled together. We had asked for a twin and a triple . When we got there we were given 2 very large communicating twin rooms each with a bed settee although these were not made up with bedding. We asked for this to be done and within 10 minutes 2 helpful staff arrived with bedding and towlels. The rooms and bathrooms were really good , spotlessly clean and including plenty of wardrobe space, hairdrier etc. The reception staff were also very helpful and it is worth noting that they can provide a shuttle to the airport at a reasonable price if you ask the morning you are leaving. We would like to visit Madrid again and would not hesitate to use the Regente . It's very central and despite other people's reviews we found it quiet as we were not overlooking the Gran Via. Very good value.

A great base for a short/medium city break. Half an hour from the Airport by Taxi ( 20 to 25 euros ). The Regente is situated pretty centrally and is close enough to walk to the main attractions/sites of interest ( but also close to good Metro system for the more sedentary!). Turn right out of the hotel and wander into the pedestrianised shopping area leading to the Plaza Puerto del Sol. Try to see the Plaza Mayor and the Reina Sofia art gallery. A walk through Retiro Park is a pleasant paradox to city architecture. Hotel was clean and staff were friendly, helpful and courteous, nothing was too much trouble. Rooms basic but very comfortable. Our room had a small balcony overlooking the Gran Via - fantastic for people watching after Tapas and Rioja! Small bar great for a pre-dinner G and T! Breakfast was excellent - all you could eat with endless coffee! Wonderful value and one to be recommended.

This was a great Hotel to stay in the staff where friendly enough and the Hotel looked really nice. It is right in the hotspot of madrid, just off the Gran Via and with Clubs, Bars and a starbucks just down from the Hotel. The rooms were very nice. The one bad point of the hotel was be aware that the do not disturb sign does not work if you dont wish to have your room cleaned. They came in anyway, which was rather annoying. But other than that the hotel was nice, food was nice and the drinks were very cheap. Would go back again.

This hotel was ideal for a weekend break etc, it was easy to get to from the airport using the metro as only a few metres from the Gran Via station. The room was spacious and clean, we opted for the breakfast to be included and it was worth doing. Hotel staff were pleasant and will certainly recommend it to friends and family that may want to visit Madrid.
The only downside to our visit was that there were 2 others from our party that had their purses stolen, so beware of pickpockets.

My wife and I spent three days in early March in the Regente and found it to be an ideal hotel, accommodation and location wise. A couple of minutes away from the nearest Metro station and a leisurely walk away from the Plaza Mayor. Situated just off the Gran Via it is ideal for shopping/restaurants and bars. The room was facing the stairwell and a little dark but as opposed to facing the Gran Via, which may have been a bit noisy, we had no complaints. Tuck into the excellent buffet breakfast which sets you up for the day. Highly recommendable.

4th - 7th March 2005 My partner and I had a very enjoyable stay at the Regente Hotel.
From the airport we hopped on the tube which took us to a station that is about a three minute walk from the Hotel - good to start to our break already.
The Regente is situated in an excellent location, it is off the main road through Madrid - Gran Via and then backs onto a main shopping area with everything to offer, from great little Tapas Bars to the biggest department store in Madrid. It is about a 5/10 min walk to the Plaza Mayor which is a definate must see !! We were both very impressed with the Hotel, the staff were extremly friendly upon arrival and throughout our stay. The room was a little basic but clean and comfortable (what more do you need?). The Hotel also offers a fantastic Breakfast, there is everything you could possibly want to eat to start you off for the day. In all, the Hotel was fantastic value, in an excellent location, clean, comforatable and a friendly service - you could not ask for more. Definatly Recommended.
