Review of 'REGENT PALACE PICCADILLY'

Don't go expecting the Ritz and you will not be dissappointed. You get a great central location for all your shopping and the shows, in a basic and cheap hotel. We found our room a bit scruffy and as soon as I informed Reception we were moved immediately to another room. We had an en-suite room which was clean and spacious, although the bathroom was small. Remember you get what you pay for in London and this was very good value.

The location could simply not be better.  It is bang in the centre of Piccadilly, the centre of London.  This gave great access to tourist attractions while being amazingly close to the famous entertainment of the cinemas and comedy clubs of Leicester Square, and eateries and bars of Soho and China Town.  All the biggest shops are on Regent Street and the Thames with a view of Houses of Parliament all a stones throw away.  I can not understate what an amazing location this is (It is directly opposite all the famous advertising lights so it is easy to find your way home!).  Although the location was central it was not noisy within the hotel as you may expect.  The room was basic.  Fairly clean with a wardrobe, sink, kettle etc.  The bathrooms are shared and there are not many of them to go around what is quite a large hotel.  I spent a whole hour trying to wait for a (well actually any) shower, when I asked the cleaner what was going on and she informed me I had to ring 21 from my room and a lady would let me in to a locked shower.  The women arrived with large bath sheets (which are not in the room) and showed me to a shower.  The message is don't wait just ring 21 when you awake don’t wait for the mystery to unravel!  We would definitely return.

This hotel was exactly what I was looking for. So central I didn't catch the tube the entire time I was there! The room was clean and comfortable. It had everything I needed. I slept well - which means the bed was comfortable!
My only criticism is the bathrooms - they were miles from the room and not clean. The showers were always locked and extremely dirty once unlocked.
Would I stay there again? Yes!
Place for a romantic getaway? No! (unless you want to break up with that person)

Review of 'REGENT PALACE PICCADILLY'

The Hotel is in an amazing location in the centre of Piccadilly, London. Near theatres, the tube, taxi and bus stops and many shops, bars and restaurants.

We chose this location because of our late arrival in London from the North (we didnt arrive into London until 2115 Saturday night) and so didnt have a lot of time to waste getting ready etc.  The hotel reception was busy, bustling and looking a little tired, however the irish bar was friendly with lots of atmosphere for anyone wishing to stay local.

We were quickly met by the Reception staff who took our print-out, tapped in the computer and advised that we had the last room on the first floor and that we would have to pay £48 as our room was not pre-paid, I quickly got out my payment receipt and insisted it was pre-paid and she beckoned a Supervisor who quickly confirmed our rate was "pre-paid" ?? ours keys and directions were quickly submitted and our stay at The Regents Palace began...

The rooms were quite spacious, warm very dated with teak wooden furniture and a washbasin, towels were provided, clean blankets, pillows etc- the windows did not open properly and had no view, only of scaffolding and rubbish thrown out of other upstairs bedrooms, the hotel is built around a "V" shape and it is quite confusing to locate rooms, bathrooms and toilets which by the way are not in your bedrooms and are again in need of a re-vamp..

Whilst I do not wish to sound like I am complaining I did feel that the hotel had a great reception area with many guest facilities including a coffee shop, internet and left-luggage -and for the price and location you could not really complain, I think the staff who looked after the left-luggage on our departure day which is located just off reception were friendly and helpful to us and the other guests, well done to you...

I would stay again but really only for location, knock down price, access to Central London, and left luggage facility. priced from £2 per item per day?? a snip when compared to the rail stations in london.

Try it and see what you think

The Regent Palace has a 2 star rating; in my opinion it should have at least 4 stars. The bathrooms were impeccably spotless, the food good, wholesome and tasty and the staff second to none in terms of manners, availibility and appearance.

Staff very knowledgeable and eager to help with local attractions, bus routes and times.

We particularly were delighted by the availibility of tea making facilities.

All in all, this hotel, for its reasonable prices, is outstanding and I would not hesitate in either recommending it or visiting it again.

The Regents Palace is a low quality hotel with an excellent location. If you want a basic room with no frills then this is your hotel. The ensuite rooms have a tardis like capsule that contains the shower & toilet but is preferable to using the shared facilities. The bar in the hotel is quite lively & usually stays open to at least 1am for guests. Overall when comapared to hotel prices in the area its good value for money.

Review of 'REGENT PALACE PICCADILLY'

The Picadilly is right in the middle of things in Picadilly Circus, convenient to most of the London tourist attractions. The tube station is almost on the doorstep of the hotel.
The hotel was cheap and cheerful. We booked a double room, with shared toilet. The room was very cheap, and is all you need when visiting London: somewhere clean to put your head down for the night. TV in the room and tea making facilities.
I'm sure there are other more luxurious rooms in the hotel, but the ones we had were basic.
The decor on the floors (certainly 2 and 8) was a little tatty, and the toilets / showers had a run down air about them. We had to change rooms after the first night (refurbishment work going on), and there was a very noisy air conditioning unit or something similar going day and night outside the window.
Having said all that, we had a great time in London and the Regent Palace. It doesn't claim to be something it is not. It is convenient, with clean rooms and is very cheap. Will we go back there again? Yes, we loved it! We would definitely recommend it, but be realistic about what you pay and what you get. With the Regent Palace, on our particular booking, we paid for a basic hotel room with shared toilet facilities, and that is exactly what we got. We'll definitely be back.

Location ! Location ! Location !

We stayed at the Regent Palace Pccadilly London on Friday 20 January 2006.

The location of the Regent Palace is just unbeatable.   We are regular visitors to London and have stayed there many times.  We have also stayed elsewhere but we always come back to the Regent Palace.   It is perfect for shopping and theatre going and we will be back again  (with Alpharooms of course for best price !).
The en suite rooms are clean and beds comfortable - if anything,  I feel the standard has improved from previous visits.
We will be back soon !

showers and toilets immaculately clean However that was the only good thing i can say - sink in our room badly broken, coat hooks on the doors broken and sharp enough to cut your hands on, & bed spreads filthy with stains. Room smelt of smoke when we arrived and during the night the smoke got so bad we might as well have had 3 people chain smoking in our room all night. I know it was cheap so didnt expect a palace but also didnt expect to feel like i had slept in the corner of a pub all night. The noise outside was also non stop all night - out of their control i know. Definitely wouldnt go again. if you smoke and want a room to roll into after a night pubbing/ clubbing then ideal, but not good for a family trip.sorry

The Hotel has many, many rooms and I can see why it is attractive to backpackers, especially in the heart of London. For them, it is ideal and very affordable. To all others I wuold say that the room we stayed in was dingy but I have to say seemed clean enough. It was very small and the en-suite facility was a bit of a joke - a plastic cubicle the likes you would find inside a caravan!

The hotel is very noisy due to the large volume of late night patrons, there obviously to enjoy London's fantastic night life.

We arranged for breakfast to be delivered to our room, a luxury we discovered on our own as the male receptionist gave us no information about our stay. We were just shuffled along into our room. However, the staff I spoke with on the telephone were polite and efficient.

Breakfast was a big dissapointment as the maid, not familiar with the term, wait a minute please, insisted I open the door only to be presented with 2 plastic tubs containg a roll, jam, croissant an awful apple and a small tub of orange juice. Suffice to say the breakfast was horrendous.

The location is ideal but, knowing what I know now I would not choose to stay there again and rather pay the extra for a quieter, more refined stay.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Palace for 5 nights in a double room ensuite. Everything was nice and clean, small toilet and bath but hot water all the time. A kettle in the room and tea and thereby tea or coffee at your own service was a very nice detail. Staff filled up when we'd used the teabags etc. Roomservice every day providing clean towels and soap, a helpfull staff and great location made our stay very pleasant. Not luxurios in any way, but basic and great value for the price considering the excellent location.

The Regent Palace, Piccailly is very convenient, it is within walking distance of lots of London attractions and is very handy for the tube.  I had to wait about twenty minutes to check in because the hotel is so big and busy.  My room was ok, the TV worked ok and the bedding seemed perfectly clean.  The bathroom was tiny but also clean.  At the price I paid I have no complaints and would use it again.

In terms of location and price, this is an excellent place to stay, situated right on Picadilly Circus.  If you are on a tight budget, but want to be in the center of the West End nightlife, then it is recommended.

Don't expect luxury though.  It is very basic, and the shared shower facilities were not that clean during my stay.

Due to the extremely large number of rooms, check-in and waiting for the lift can take time!

Suited to backpackers and budget travellers who do not want to stay in dorms.
