OK but not the Hilton
30 July 2007
We stayed here for 4 nights in June 2007. Although very basic, the rooms and bed linen were clean. We stayed in a larger room/suite, as there were five of us visiting New York. As a base for sightseeing this was in a GREAT location. The hotel does need some TLC. Staff were freindly and helpful. Saw NO bugs or nasties during our stay. As the saying goes "you only pay for what you get".

please do not stay at this hotel, it does not deserve to be 2 stars at all should be closed down! there are rats, bed bugs, its dirty and the staff are rude, in fact alpharooms should not even be advertising this hotel as somewhere to stay you would be better off on the streets!

Didnt expect an amazing place to stay. Stayed a total of one night on our 4 day break. Woke in the morning to find our beds swarming with BED BUGS!! Reception had the cheek to offer us another room. the carpets were stained and dusty, the walls and ceiling were moldy, there were various power cuts during our stay, there were no heaters in the room, the hot water did not work, hotel staff were exteremely rude and of no help at all- they did not speak english very well. During our short stay the reception area was bombarded with complaints from other guests. Avoid this hotel, hotel from hell is an understatement! It needs to be shut down.

This hotel has the best location for tourists; prime for shoppers, and the local tours. Although the accommodation is basic, the rooms were clean and adequate for the person who only needs a place to sleep. Very Highly recommended!!!!

If its your first time in the big apple this is a super base.Get the airtrain from JFK to Jamaica station (very easily done) and then the LIRR railway to Penn station on 34th st and 7th. next to Macys store and this hotel is actually outside the station entrance. So is the Empire State Bdg. and Macys. The total train time takes 35 mins where a cab at peak time can take an hour.Rooms are small old fashioned and basic, but beds are clean. The shower needs a bit of loving attention to get it right , but all in all the staff are hassle free, the lift is small but it arrives fast and the location makes it all worth while.Nothing fantastic about this place but for central Manhatttan, good value no fuss just a bed and a shower, and L O C A T I O N!!.
