reliable and convenient

I really liked this hotel. As a traveller on my own it gave me the right amount of privacy and attention. Nice Breakfast. Very convenient location. No faults. Does not have loads of ambience but it is right in the middle of fitzrovia where you can find all that if you need it

Rathbone review

28 April 2008
Great location and friendly staff. Room was small but ok, comfortable bed and decent shower. Breakfast was a bit of a military operation - tables in a cramped room booked in 20 minute slots, and slow service on toast and tea. We left our luggage in the hotel all day after we checked out with no problem at all.

The hotel is well located in the West End; close to Oxford St, Soho, Covent Garden & the Theatres. Good restaurants nearby.

Our room was OK & general service was good.

My only gripe was that the A/C did not work & we kept the window open. Unfortunately the bin lorries made a terrible din outside our window at 7am!

I am constantly on the look out for a good small hotel in London but this is not it.
Most importantly the 24 hour Cafe does not exist and the only meal the restaurant serves is breakfast. The only food available in the hotel in the evening is room service which constists of soup and sandwiches. I paid £4.95 for a bowl of heinz tomato soup and £5.95 for an inedible panini.
The hotel was far from clean with peeling wall paper in my room. The air conditioning in my room did not work and the window was wedged open and impossible to close. The portable TV was so small it was impossible to see it clearly from the bed.

The Rathbone Hotel is in a fantastic location, after a few hours of shopping in Oxford street, the hotel was only a stones throw away.  The staff were very helpful and friendly and the hotel room was very clean and comfortable.

I would suggest that if you do not have breakfast included in the price of your room, check the price of breakfast before you enter the restaurant! £20 each for an English Breakfast seems a bit extortionate, are they using endangered species in their breakfasts????

This is a remarkable hotel, small comfotable and convenient. The price is not a complete rip off as are most hotels in central london. I would come back

Many thanks for an absolutely amazing stay.  The Rathbone is the way hotels used to be, real service and superb décor.  What's more, being a stone's throw from Oxford St meant I wasn't having to bus and tube it around town like a commuter.  Couldn't fault it.
