We returned from the New Yorker in November '07.The hotel was in a great location for the likes of Macy's , Empire State building and Times Square, Madison Square Gardens was just across the road from hotel. The Staff were very helpful when our room was a bit on the small side and we needed to change to a bigger room. There is renovations going on at the moment, but it did'nt effect our stay at all. Ask for a room on the higher floors as the renovations have started from the top and are making their way down. Would have no problem booking the new yorker Hotel again.

This hotel is superbly located in New York if your priorities include shows at Madison Square Garden since it is literally just across the road.

If you're staying for 1 or 2 nights I suggest "risking it" because there is no doubt some of the rooms are small and cramped but the flipside is that some of the rooms are superb!

If you are staying for a longer period and you have high expectations, you would need to book the highest standard room that you can afford. Like some of the other reviews here I would suggest that you seek a room change if you are unhappy with your room assignment. I always print out a copy of exactly what I booked in terms of room type and facilities - the staff are extremely helpful and will usually upgrade you if you can show that your room is below the standard you were expecting!

The usefulness of the self service laundry in the basement (if its still there?) shouldn't be overlooked.

We upgraded to a suite and the view and the breakfast made the small extra charge well worthwhile.   The hotel is clean and comfortable, its main strength is its location close to the Empire State Building, Macys and Times Square.

Facililties are a all provided, and there is easy access to the subway, and main line rail.

The best feature was the view, being able to lie in bed and see the  empire state building lite at night was great.   I will be staying again.

We are just back after a long weekend staying in The New Yorker and would not hesitate in booking agin.  Having read other reviews after booking the hotel, we were slightly nervous as to what we would find, but the hotel was clean, fresh towels and bedding daily and the staff were wonderful.
The hotel is situated in an ideal spot to access most of the attractions, with penn street subway just around the corner.

Superb location for all the sights and ideal for subways. Rooms not huge but very clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful and the twenty four hour diner was lovely. Overall, a good price for Manhattan, and how much time do you spend in a hotel room in New York?!

When we went to check in at the hotel we were told that there had been a mix up in our reservation and that the hotel had us booked in for the previous month.  However after showing my booking confirmation this was promptly rectified by the friendly and helpful staff.

The Ramada New Yorker is ideally located in the fashion district in Manhattan. It is just a block around the corner from Macy's amongst the hundreds of over shops and is a 10 minute walk from Times Square with Madison Square Garden just half a block away.

The room looked a bit small on the small side but this was probably due to the fact that the bed in the room was enormous.  The shower in the room would literally take your skin off with the power.  The room was serviced everyday by the house keeping staff who were also friendly and flexible (i.e. if you were in your room when they called they would just call back later when you had left).

Overall, our stay at the Ramada was quite pleasant and we have no complaints about it and would have no hesitation in staying there again.

This is my 4th time at the hotel.

The thing you've got to be aware of is that parts of the hotel have undergone serious renovation, while, at the same time, other floors have not been revamped.

On three occasions I have had to request a room change.  In all cases I was accommodated and my new room was top notch.  You just have to make sure that the room you get is on one of the renovated floors.

Had an amazing time in New York and found the people to be the best, but the hotel left a lot to be desired. Location - fantastic. Rooms - Tiny - (not small) with 2 beds squashed in. Shabby decor, small filthy windows with big dusty AC units lodged in one half of them. Had to climb over one bed to reach the window no walking space at all.  (Don't know how they manage to vacuum the floor).  We had to put the bedside chair and the dressing table chair out on the landing to afford us some space!!

Staff were unhelpful and condescending.

Note: there is no description of facilities on the website - now I know why!!  So just incase you are thinking of going I will fill you in:

TV - Yes
Telephone - yes
Fridge - No
Hairdryer - No
Safe - No
complimentary toiletries - No - except for 2 tiny bottles shampoo.  So bring a shower cap!!

Searched internet for sometime for hotel offering a good deal for three adults. Eventually found this hotel and booked it. As an after thought searched around for reviews. Having read them I nearly cancelled!! If you have done the same, don't panic - the hotel was fine. It's in a great location and next to subway. The rooms are not very big but what do you expect for a three star in Manhatten?? It was clean and the staff were friendly. The rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towels. Security check people gaining access to the upper floors. The Diner on the ground floor was good for all meals. On our last visit we stayed at the Novotel Times Square. We were quite happy to save some accommodation money for shopping money by staying at the New Yorker.

Very near the Madison Square Garden, Penn Station (easy to get to/from the airport by train) and The Empire State Building. Nice staff and the price was OK. The rooms could have been a bit bigger but overall I would say I recommend the New Yorker.
