Great Hotel in Puerto Banus
18 August 2008
Just back on Saturday from glorious Puerto Banus. Had a ball there... but I guess it's the hotel you want to hear about!!
The hotel was great value and locationwise, it was fabulous. Everything was within walking distance. The room itself was perfect - it was clean (and cleaned regularly!!). It had it's own little kitchenette, which was so handy as you don't want to be eating out all of the time.
No major downsides. I was a little hesitant about booking the hotel as I a lot of the reviews had found the staff unfriendly/unhelpful but I found this completely to the contrary.
Would definitely recommend this as a place to stay in Puerto Banus.

No complaints
06 August 2008
Hotel is very centrally located, easy walk to the shopping and bars and restaurants. Were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room. We had taken heed of some reviews we'd read and asked for a non smoking room at the front. When we were checking in the staff were very pleasant and gave us a room which was quite near the pool and busy road but it wasn't noisy at all or as bad as other reviews say. The rooms were all clean and air-conditioned. They were made-up, cleaned and towels changed every day. Some other staff (pool and outside bar) weren't the most pleasant. We were there for a week and it got busy towards the weekend. There was a stag party there but the pool staff were just doing their jobs keeping them under control, it was really to make sure they weren't annoying other guests' enjoyment. This accommodation is great value for money for young and old alike. The only downside I can say is the size of the pool. There's not alot of room around the sides and there were never enough loungers - made worse by people leaving their towels down, heading off and not coming back. Another point is that a lot of the poolside is in the shade for most of the morning. Overall though it's a great place to stay.

|Great value and location...
We were pleasantly suprised by the hotel and our room considering how cheap it was in comparison to everywhere else in Puerto Banus. The room was really spacious for a studio and the hotel definitely had all the facilities you would expect at this price range.
Locationwise it was perfect, less than five mins from the beach and bars so no need for taxis even at nite when we were in heels!
Minor downsides....the computers in the internet room were often broken and the food in the poolside bar wasn't the greatest when we tried it.
We found the staff to be a little slow at times but not unhelpful or strict as other people have mentioned.
Would definitely think about it again unless I was considerably upping my budget when I next go back to Puerto Banus.

Good Location, Bad Staff
14 May 2008
Well, I took my Stag and 11 of our friends to this hotel for 4 nights and our first thoughts we good. Hotel had a great location, near everything you would need and about a 2 min walk from all the bars. Our first day by the pool seemed wuite but there were mainly women and it all looked very clean. One the first day, we tried to play a little bit of water polo, got told off, then we tried playing a little keepy-ups with the ball on the grass away from anyone.... we got told off and was then told to play in the tennis courts, so we did. One tennis court was covered in glass, so we reported it to the reception. We played in the other one for that day. The next day we were playing in the court again and after a couple of hours we then confronted by 2 managment and 3 security guards. They had accussed us of stealing the court keys, smashing glass on the other court the day before and then told us we couldn't kick a ball around in the tennis court !!! They were so rude, negative about everything we had told them and basically that put a very bad opinion of the hotel in to eveyones mind. On a plus, there were lots of hen and sag parties there as well which made for a good holiday over all, but the hotel could do with some staffing improvments to make it less like a prison and more like a holiday hotel !!!!

Cant wait to return
29 April 2008
This was my 40th birthday weekend away with the girls.we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at this hotel, It was really cheap so we expected not much at all, we just wanted somewhere to sleep. The rooms were clean, spacious(there were 4 of us) 4 single beds, a nice big clean bathroom with an excellent shower, a balcony with furniture and a small kitchen area. The pool area was lovely and the staff couldnt have been more freindly! There was a pool bar and a bar inside serving meals and snacks(cheese toasties are delicious)Waiter service to poolside if needed. As for location, this hotel is brilliant, 2 mins to marina, beach and bars and resturants. we will definatly go again, I wouldnt go for a main holiday as like to splash out for those, but for anyone seeking a long weekend or a week away in the sun, this hotel really does do what it says on the tin and more besides. It is not 4 or 5 star luxery but an excellent 3 star. Cant wait to return, looking at flights already.

Basic but Great Value for Central Location
14 January 2008
This hotel does exactly what it says on the tin.
Its has a fantastic location - smack bang in the centre of Puerto Banus.
Its very cheap for this location.
Its quite like Ryanair...you get what you pay for. Its basic and clean but dont expect the Ritz if you want budget accommodation.
Im always amazed at people who want the highest standards for paying the cheapest prices.
Good 3* with great location. End of.

travelled here for a hen in june of this year, hve to say for a 30 year old woman to be told to be quite the minute we walked in the door at 2 in the afternoon was extremely annoying... i understand at night time as I am a mother myself but to be honest i thought the staff were a disgrace... so unfriendly and so sllllllllllllllllooooooooooowwwwwwwwww..... they do everything at a snails pace... we did have a bit of craic with the security staff though... Hotel was nice and the pool area was great.. and really entral to all the pubs and clubs but if you don't like being told off like a naughty child forget it....

better than expected
28 June 2007
Just returned from a fab weekend. After reading the reviews was a bit worried about the hotel. On arrival was impressed with the reception and we did have a little wait to book in but the staff were friendly. The rooms were large and spacious and very clean but ready for updating. We were in b block at the far end away from the busy road, which is next to the pool area which is noisy from the traffic. There was a mixed age of guests lots of groups, golfers. We did not see any trouble. One of our party needed a doctor and the night reception staff were very helpfull, was well impressed. There is a security staff presence but for the right reasons it does deter trouble. I would defo go back again.

We have just returned from this hotel as a member of a group of 25 within a Hen Party. Hotel is very clean and comfortable. However how many times can a person be told to SILENCIO, and be frog marched to your room by the SS aka Sercurity Silencio. However had a brilliant stay. Staff should remember Service With A Smile!!!!!

basic rooms, very dated, but clean and spacious. at the time we went (mid june) hotel was full of stag/hen parties which wasnt that nice to be honest. another prob is the pool area is small for the size of the hotel. also the staff dont speak much english at all so its hard to communicate if you have any probs and ur spanish isnt good. the location is perfect though.

Brilliant stay at the hotel Pyr,willy at the main reception was great with my two teenage nephews and generally very professional about his task at hand. Hotel Pyr was clean and tidy,my only complaint is the continious noise of traffic from the motorway - next time i will request a room on different side of the hotel. My nephews enjoyed the sports facilities that were available.

I travelled with 13 female friends and we stayed at the Hotel PYR Marbella. We found the hotel very clean and the staff very helpful. The only faults was the very loud traffic noise as we were next to the main road and the beds were not comfortable. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel to our friends.

Simply the best 3 Star hotel I have stayed in. A short walk takes you to the shops, bars, restaurants, beach & harbour. The pool & it,s amenities are also 1st class. I have only been back 24 hours & I have already recommended it to my daughters for the short break they are planning. I also used the Transport section of Alpharooms for my party of 20 people, arriving on 2 different days & also leaving on 2 different days & everything passed without a hitch. The biggest compliment I can give, it was "value for money"

The hotel is in an excellent location, the facilities are very good and the rooms very clean and spacious. The downside is there are large groups of 18-30s, hen parties etc use this hotel as a result it can be very noisy late at night when the clubs empty. If not for this the hotel would definitely would get 5 out of 5.

Enjoyed our stay at the hotel. It was dated and could do with a refurb but overall it was nice. On the plus side the accommodation was good value with large clean basic rooms and ideally located in the heart of the area. The staff were friendly and helpful. The 2 pools were good though it was difficult to get a sunbed if you were not out as soon as the pool area was opened.Pool did not open till 10am - a little late I thought for families with young children.

Review of 'PYR MARBELLA-THE TRUTH '

We had a fabulous time at PYR, this hotel bursts life, hoshs big groups of partying golfers, hen and stag weekenders.PYR is 5mins, if that from all the fun,fab restaurants overlooking the harbour but hotel nicely tucked away for a day of enjoyment round its big pool, great poolbar which serves snacks. This hotel is huge, yet run so proffessionally and is stylist, rooms cleaned everyday, security is there to control any loud noice from party goers late at night which is appreciated! Highly recommend PYR to anyone!

Good clean fun
25 April 2006
If you expect luxury, peace and quiet, families or couples then you should stay somewhere else. The PYR is perfect for a long weekend with your friends. It is close to a very busy road so you do get a bit of noise when you're lying round the pool but the location is perfect in every other way. This is the third time we've stayed at the hotel, the rooms are basic but very clean the staff are helpful and we will definitely be booking up for next year.

This Hotel is well situated for Puerto Banus harbour and surrounding shops. Good access to the roads to Marbella and Estepona. The rooms were clean and very roomy for a hotel this size. The rooms were basic but served the purpose of a base for exploring. Rooms were cleaned daily no fault found. Very good value for money. Car park is a plus if you hire a vehicle but be prepared to pay 9,50 euros per day. We did return at different times of the day and wouldn't have found parking nearby as it is very limited. For breakfast recommend O'Briens cafe opposite the best BLT ever!

30 November 2005
Booked the Pyr Marbella because it was conveniently situated for everywhere we needed to visit. The apartment we had was very clean and spacious if a little dated. We did not use any of the kitchen facilies so cannot comment on that side of things. All the staff were pleasant and helpful and the buffet breakfast at 8 euros was really extensive and good. Everything is on the doorstep - bars, restaurants, good shopping and all the joys of people watching down on the Port! As it is situated very close to the main road there is some traffic noise but the double glazing took care of most of that and although my husband is a very light sleeper he was not bothered by it. We would certainly use this hotel again.

The hotel was excellent for our purpose. We went to play golf and the hotel booked the games for us and saved us a considerable amount of money.
The hotel is ideally placed a few minutes walk from the port, shops and restaurants and is extremely clean and tidy. As stated in other reviews be aware that the hotel is near a busy road. We could hear the road from the room but it didn't bother us too much. We would certainly go back.

The hotel is very clean but rooms could do with updating and some redecoration, very convient for both port with many resturants, all pretty reasonably priced and for anyone who enjoy's a game of golf. The only down side is if like us you live in a quiet area the noise from the busy N340 can keep you awake.

We were on a golf weekend and this hotel was pretty much prefect for us. The rooms were clean, its location is perfect, right in the heart of Puerto Banus and the facilities are very good. I would say it was more for groups than couples though, but if you are golfing in the region you probably won't find anywhere so convenient for golfing and going out.

I could not complain about the PYR. Our apartment was cleaned every day with fresh towels available whenever you require them. The room was fully air conditioned and there was plenty of space. The location of the apartment block was ideal,it was just a 10 min walk to beach and all the bars and restaurants that Puerto Banus and its Marina has to offer. Within the apartment block there is a bar and lounge along with a buffet service for breakfast so you dont even have to leave the block if you just fancy a lazy day by the pool as there is also a poolside bar that is available for drinks and snacks at very competitive prices. Overall a very enjoyable stay and ideal for singles, couples and families alike.
