Well Situated but Flawed
28 October 2007
Very well situated Hotel only moments from the beach and marina. The rooms were clean and the maid service was excellent. However, our room was just overlooking a service yard at t6he back and another hotel. All rooms at the back of the hotel are like this. If you are lucky enough to have a room at the front, you would probably have a better view. No kettle was provided, even when we asked for one and the sofa beds in the living room were a shambles. They kept falling apart, were very uncomfortable and needed replacing urgently. Not what you would expect from a 3 star hotel.

The hotel is very well located in the centre of Fuengirola within walking distance of everything. It is kept very clean. Most rooms have a good view.Reception staff are efficient but not very friendly.
The work on the lifts is almost finished.
We found a problem with noisy late night revellers returning to their rooms in the early hours & continuing to party loudly until morning. The hotel do not seem to be in a position to control this sort of behaviour.

Execellent location. Cleaned daily. Ideal for people with children as we had. Only complaint we would have was the lifts were being worked on during our stay and the barriers put up against the work were not very safe with children around. Would recommend to others and would stay there again. Great value for money.

Accomadation was very good, very clean, all the staff very helpful. We arrived late at night, didn't get the room with the view we hoped for but having spoke to reception in the morning they went out of there way to accomadate us.Ended up with a room with a fantastic view though we had to reduce from one bed accomadation to a studio accomadation (with no refund). The only drawback to the accomadation during our stay was that the Hotel was being fitted with new lifts, noise of drills 9.30am - 7.00pm, still I suppose it's for the benefit of all in the end.One other thing, never been so pestered with scratch card touts in my life.It was a case of Ann or myself having won the main prize every time, it's all a scam, never, never get in the taxi with them.I know from personal experience, you have been warned.Apart from them you should have a very enjoyable stay at the Pyr,get a room with a sea/mountain view and you will never regret it..

Review of 'PYR FUENGIROLA'

The Pyr Fuengirola is extremely well situated -- right on the waterfront, and close to all the amenities that the community has to offer. We had a studio apartment which was quite clean and spacious and fairly well equiped with dishes, cutlery, and cooking utensils. The rooms are cleaned daily but the bedding and towels are changed every three days or so. We requested (and received) a room overlooking the seafront, with the mountains in the background. The view was lovely, even at night, with the twinkling lights on the hillside across the water. The construction site on the the north side of the hotel is now almost complete. It is an underground parking facility with a lovely courtyard/ playground on the surface. An enchanting carousel (merry-go-round) was assembled on this site while we were there. I assume it will be a permanent fixture. We did find that the walls between the rooms are very thin -- we could hear our neighbours' televisions quite clearly. One of the elevator shafts was being repaired, which resulted in an unsightly hole in the wall on every floor. In all, however, these were minor concerns and did not bother us. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for reasonably priced accomodation in Fuengirola.

Good clean hotel with the marina right in front of it. About 10mins from the train station, only 1.80 euros to the airport. Have stayed here before and will be staying again, plenty of bars nearby. The only down side is the noise from Spanish nightclubs at kicking out time between 5am & 9am. Ask for one of the higher floors and not facing the pool.

The Pyr is centrally located and offers a group of golfers on a short break everything you would need. There are plenty of bars to choose from and nice restaurants.
The Hotel itself is great value for money. The rooms are spacious and clean and the hotel staff are firendly and courteous.
