Review of 'Princess Yaiza'
15 April 2008
A good location for a restful family holiday. On arrival the welcome is very warm with complementary glass of champagne (or orange juice for the kids!) served by a friendly and efficient floor manager. Check in at reception is very slick, and you are presented with a map to help you navigate your way to your room in this huge complex. The rooms, ours a suite, are furnished to a very high standard and the beds are comfortable, although the pillows are a bit on the low side. As we arrived too late for the restaurants, a supper was brought to our room without us having to request it. One grumble is that our sea-view room was very noisy, caused by the shifting of furniture presumably in a nearby restaurant.
The quality of the food in all the hotels many restaurants is very high, we especially enjoyed the Mexican fare.
The pool area is well designed and there is plenty of room for everyone even when the hotel is busy. Although the hotel claims to operate a system where the reserving of sunbeds by dumping towels on them is strictly forbidden, this is common practice. However the pool staff will remove them on request if it becomes apparent that the beds you want are not being occupied.
The kids club is huge and offers a wide range of activities including a daily soccer school. My son (admitedly hard to please) grumbled about the quality of some of the evening shows but there are plenty of other ways to entertain the kids in this resort.
Just short of five stars for the noisy room and the inconsistent maid service (sometimes we had enough towels sometimes we didn't), and for five-star prices I tend to expect five-star service. Minor grumbles on thw whole, and we'll certainly be back.
