Review of 'Port Ciutadella'
16 September 2006
We got lucky on the Port Ciutadella - a new (local 4 star rated)hotel only opened in April 2006, having booked through Alpharooms for 7 nights from 9th September, and just requesting a sea-view, we found ourselves upgraded to a suite on the 1st Floor. The room was the best space in an hotel we've ever had - an enormous bed, sitting area, balcony and totally separate dressing-room plus excellent bathroom.
The hotel is situatesd on the Paseo Maritim, (if you have opted to drive there yourself beware that the Paseo Maritim is one way)- and the walk to town along the Paseo Maritim is only 15 minutes and there are stairs just beyond the Club Nautica that take you down direct to the harbour restaurants.
There is a small beach near the hotel where usually the water is clear and in September incredibly warm!(After the thunderstorms we experienced on our last day the water was not so clear!)
The facilities at the hotel were first rate, with outdoor pool in the centre of the hotel (no traffic noise and privacy)- plenty of sun-beds (two solarium areas to supplement the pool area), a gymnasium (take your trainers) and indoor pool with jacuzzi, steam rooom, vapour room, sauna and some interesting showers ( a bucketfull of cold water being one - very refreshing?)
We had opted for B&B - the breakfast offered a wide and excellent choice of both cooked and cold buffet. There were plenty of friendly staff and the tables were cleared rapidly and the buffet was always replenished quickly.
We did not have a dinner at the hotel, preferring the walk into town where there is an excellent choice of restaurants and cafes - of the meals we had the most enjoyable and best value was Italian (the Antico Piacere) home made pasta and some excellent Italian wines - even with the eccentric service!
All in all an excellent hotel
