Point Hotel average customer rating 4 (Rated by 97 customers)
At first glance, the hotel looks very inviting - wide, bright airy entrance foyer. Stylish bar and brasserie and very attentive, helpful staff. However - this is just merely a facade. The rooms are very basic - not that this is necessarily a fault, but annoying when the hotel presents itself as chic, modern and designer - none of these three would describe the rooms in the hotel, certainly not the room we stayed in. Worn, threadbare carpets, very tired, old bathroom, ancient fittings on the windows, saggy old mattress on the bed.
Don't get me wrong - the hotel is in a great location for all of Edinburgh's sights, the price is good, breakfast is fine. Just don't go there expecting anything fancy. Fancy it isn't. Basic at best. Again, nothing wrong with basic itself, just not when the hotel advertises itself as one of the top 50 designer hotels in the world.
