Rooms excellent. Great room overlooking beach. Reception staff couldn't do enough. Waitress service at dinner and bar hit and miss. Food choice good.

Good choice for anyone with walking difficulties. Disabled ramps and plent of lifts available. Nice promenade directly onto beach with disabled access. Good choice for the more mature traveller. Nightly entertainment in hotel. Nice quiet traditional resort ideal choice for those wanting to relax and wind down.

Stayed at the Playluna for 2 months (Feb & Mar) this year.  Hotel was excellent.  Had a 1 bedroomed apartment and went self catering. Feb was spent on the side facing the road.  Could be dark & cool during the afternoons when the sun went down, but during the summer months it would be a blessing!!!!! Asked for a room facing the pool for March where the sun was on the room from lunchtime to sun set and it was great having the hot sunny afternoons.  We sat out on the balcony for lunch and dinner. Pool was closed for repair whilst we were there but the noise was minimal. We were not charged any extra to change rooms.  The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff were all Spanish but couldnt do enough for you. During our stay there was a Gala meal and everything was paid for by the management. Drinks & a 4 course meal included!
Whilst you may go half/full board you must try the 'TAPAS'at lunchtime at the OASIS bar opposite or the 'Red Chairs' (Nickname) (Bar in front of the Bahia hotel). Loads of variety of Tapas and you can even get egg and chips as a tapas.  'Red chairs' will even let you have a tapas with a coke or coffee!!!!
Walk along the prom from Playaluna to the marina will take about 40 - 50 mins at a slow pace, but well worth the effort!
Another bar to frequent is the Colosimo opposite the Sabinal hotel. Say hello to Carlos for us! Get there early as seats for the 2-4-1 can get taken up very fast.
The bus service, which stops outside the hotel, is cheap and can get you to most places. Dont get bus to Aqudulce thou, the return bus sometimes doesnt turn up and the taxi is expencive for a short journey.  Any trips can be taken with Pepes and if christina is on your trip your in for a good time.  Visit the market in the mountians on a Sunday and buy plenty of fresh fruit.
Have a good holiday and you cannt bet the Playalune for value and comfort.

Excellent hotel, we have been twice now in the last couple of months and it is very good value for money. The apartments are clean, spacious and have good facilities. The food and service were very good. Excellent for the family or just couples. Very recommended, will go again.

Reception area spacious, giving a good initial impression.
Rooms large,clean and well equipt.
Pool area impressive, very clean with plenty of sunbeds etc.
Restaurant bright,clean and well furnished
Food good with a wide choice.
Staff excellent. Allways cheerful and helpful although most not fluent in English.
Overall the hotel is difficult to fault. The majority of guests are Spanish,German or Dutch.
The resort is relativly new and very clean and tidy.I saw no sign of trouble in the streets or bars during my stays. It is perfect for a quiet, relaxing holiday. Would probably be too quiet for younger holidaymakers.

Review of 'PLAYALUNA' Excellent short break.

13 October 2005
Although it was the last hotel along the tourist section of the resort, it was still within walking distance. The reception staff were very helpful, the room was very nice and the half-board retaurant was excellent. Their was a good variety of hot and cold meat and fish and an extensive selection of salad and hot veg to choose from. We arrived Thursday night and left Monday evening. Saturday and Sunday the hotel was full of Spanish'weekenders'along with quite a few young children. It made a pleasant change to be in the minority in a spanish hotel, as quite often their are too many Brit's. The hotel was very nice and deserved it's 4 star rating. All in all it was excellent value, ideal for a break, but I wouldn't want to be in this part of Spain for a longer holiday. The area is very uninteresting and the coastline through to Malaga very stark, full of plastic tarpaulin covered fields, cultivating fruit, flowers and veg.Would we go again? Yes, for a similar type of break, with pleasant weather and a comfortable hotel.
