lovely holiday

10 October 2008
Really enjoyed it!! Enjoyed watching planes landing- the noise didnt bother us at all.Matagorda is a lovely clean place and the apartments are clean and the pool area is nice and food available quite adequate.Would recommend it to anyone as The busy town of porto del Carmen is only a 5euro taxi drive away or one day we walked it back. The square of shops and restaurants down the road is lovely too.

quiet and relaxing

05 October 2008
Went for my sisters Wedding so the Groom and Brides Family all stayed here, It is a well maintained and clean complex,The food is excellent and the staff are brilliant,Very quiet at night and no entertainment,Its a 5 minute walk to the nearest Supermarket and 15 minutes to the shopping centre,Car Hire is a must if you want to get around.Went to the shopping centre in Arricefie and it was more expensive than the one near us.If you are looking for a Holiday for total relaxation this is the place.

This was the third time for us at this complex, room freshly painted with some new kitchen utensils, little more aircraft noise that previous stays only to be expected but we did go in August this time, very friendly staff, rooms very clean and tidy, pool just nice, food improved although had no complaints on previous visits, wife and I love Lanzarote and enjoy this complex nice quite, relaxing what more does one want for a relaxing holiday !!!

Spacious and clean, very friendly staff, excellent value for money. A 10 minute walk to the beach and centre (for the restaurants and bars). There is some aircraft noise, but that is only to be expected as the apartments are so close to the airport, which means a very quick and cheap taxi transfer! This was our first visit and we would definitely stay again.

Playa Pocillos-again

26 March 2008
We stayed here again this year but a month later. They have new sun loungers and plenty of them, although largley 'reserved' by the Brits as soon as the padlock is taken off them and then left, often in prime positions, unused for several hours over parts of the day, I suppose just incase. This practice has got to stop. A taxi to the complex cost just under 10 euro. The complex bar/cafe was open 9am to 22.00 (last food 8.30pm). Recetion is somewhat limited for arrivals and departures but there is a phone number to ring if arriving outside these hours, the information regarding this is sruck in a sign in reception door. Club Valena just 30 yards round the corner, opposite the tennis court, has opened its Bistro Bar 6pm-9.30 to none residents and welcomes them into its bar where sky sports football is shown till midnight for you late arrivals and you can get a pizza there till 11.30pm. The place was little changed on last year and we had a very enjoyable holiday and will use this complex again. Some weeding needs to take place around the complex though as they are growing between the flags around the pool. The pavements outside the complex have just been finished making it less of a hazard to walk downw to the complex in Matargordia

I used this apartment complex as a one-night, overnight, stay because it was close to the airport (10 mins, 10 euros) and I had to be back there to pick up the rest of my party the following day (we were all staying further away in Playa Blanca but couldn't travel together). The room was basic but adequate, I arrived late (plane delayed on top of a late arrival anyway) and I just made it in time before the bar closed (had I been later I'm not sure what I'd have done vis-a-vis getting the key & accessing my room .. there seemed to be no provision for anything later than 10pm). The woman on duty at the bar (reception was closed) was cleaning up ready to close but allowed me a beer but there was no food .. not a problem as the cafe/bars of Matagorde were an easy 8/10 minute walk away. I wouldn't choose to bring my family to this place ... we like a bit more privacy .. but as a convenient near-airport cheap room it more than served the task.

'PLAYA POCILLOS' 2 key apartments Matagorda

19 February 2007
Some sites have this establishment mixed up with others of similar name in Lanzarote, this caused us some apprehension because some weren't good and we were confused. However we needn't have worried. When we got out of the taxi (10 euroos) our first impressions were that of, were we at the wrong place? It appeared far too nice for a 2 key establishment, they are a small pretty complex. Anyway to cut a long story short it wasn't. Yes the rooms were basic as regards to the kitchen but we knew that before we went and were more than adequate for our purpose. It was on the large side with comfortable settee and chair, dinning table, adequate bathroom (3/4 size bath) and 2 good single beds with very nice laundry and ample cupboardss/draws. Towels change 3 times. It also had an outside table and chairs. The comples in general was of a very high standard with friendley staff + a bar/cafe only open 9am - 5pm Nov - May.
Yes we knew it was a short walk to restraunts and supermarkets but the plus side is that it is away from any noise of people returning home. Yes you can hear the aerplanes landing and taking off but we didn't find that annoying and it certainly didn't keep us awake on a night. It is a short walk (10 mins) from the promanade where you can walk all the way to the old town of Porto del Carmen (45 minute) passing more than enough bars/cafes/restraunts or a taxi costs about 5 euros. Unless they have some hidden somewhere it maybe a little short of sun lougers in busier periods.

I found the apartments clean and reasonably well appointed with friendly staff. Access to poolside sun loungers might prove a problem in high season but thankfully there was no piped music to keep you from sunbathing in peace. The apartments are in a quiet residential area and are 5 mins walk from any kind of eating/drinking/shopping. Matagorda is very quiet; not suited to anyone seeking nightlife and the area itself caters for the over 40s. I was there in January and the whole Matagorda area seemed devoid of people, unlike Del Carmen.

Review of 'PLAYA POCILLOS'

26 January 2007
Alpharooms made no mention of the long wait we would have to get into our rooms. Guests do not have to vacate until 12.00 noon, we arrived at the apartments at about that time but had to wait until after 4.p.m. for our room, had we known this we would have booked for the previous night so we could have our room straight away. Having said that the rooms were spacious and clean, except that ours smelled very strongly of cigarettes, I have put on my apartment questionnaire that some non-smoking apartments would be a good idea as would more than one pillow for each bed. Our mattresses were brand new and very firm (which we like). The welcome pack of washing-up liquid, cloths and a bottle of water was useful and it was great to have a full-size kettle and a toaster. The shower was hot and powerful. There was small-scale building work going on outside my bedroom window so drilling began as soon as it was light, I knew the place was literally at the end of the runway so I had brought earplugs and was very glad because planes were almost constant throughout the day. I thought the hire prices for the safe and tv were a little steep and the bar was only open until 17.00 even though it seemed the apartments were all occupied. The apartments are approx 10 minute walk to the nearest supermarket (at the Nautilus Bungalows), 15-20 mins to Matagorda Centre and the seafront and 15-20 mins to the bus-stop. Matagorda itself is very neat, tidy and peaceful (in between planes).
I stayed here merely as a base, I don't think I would have enjoyed staying there all day because of the aircraft noise, at times you can really smell aircraft fuel and the burning rubber of the tyres as they land(having said that some saddo's arose at 8.a.m to put towels on sunbeds despite there being a notice to forbid it, so the noise obviously didn't bother them). I would stay again but only if I could get a rock-bottom price as I did this time. It was my first visit to Lanzarote and I loved it, not sure whether it would be so nice in the main summer weeks though (even more aircraft!).

The appartments where spacious and clean we over looked the pool area which was very nice. The food we eat there was very nice and staff were helpfull and friendly. We didnt spend the days by the pool as we prefer the beach which is about 10-15mins away but a nice stroll. The only complaint i would have was the shower room we were allowed to use before leaving was dirty and the water freezing not in line with the standards of the rest of our accomandation all in all we had a great holiday.

Review of 'PLAYA POCILLOS'

17 April 2006
We arrived later night in Arrecife and booked this appartment only for one night so I can't really review it but we got what we wanted for a great price. Appartment was clean and comfortable and suited well for the acclimatization night in Matagorda. The town was too quiet on our arrival but we managed to find one bar opened after 1 am and received the neccessary dose of sangria. Beds in the appartment were comfortable enough to care for us over the night. Staff members, a man who opened the appartment for us at midnight and the girl at the reception in the morning were very friendly. No problemo!

This is a quite enjoyable accomodation on the out skirts of Puerto de Carmen less than 10 minutes from airport, a nice 30 minute walk to the hussle and bussle of the main resort and a 3 or 4 euro taxi ride home with no noise from revellars late at niht is just what you want for a nice relaxing holiday.

Around 60 rooms in this little complex, very friendly staff and very clean, great swimming pool and only a few minutes walk to the beach of MATAGORDA. a number of shops, bars and restaurants which are reasonably priced again only a few minutes walk from apartments.

Its hard to find somewhere like this that meets all your needs but is better suited for couples more than families, so impressed we have booked another week in June 05.
