Review of 'PIRIES'
05 October 2005
I stayed at the Piries Hotel during the Edinburgh Festival in August. Despite being a very busy season, I was very lucky to get a room due to a cancellation. The hotel is located on a street within a few minutes walking distance of Haymarket railway station (so no problem getting a taxi quickly) and there's also a bus stop for regular buses into the city centre.
The hotel is well presented, with a nice reception area and steps down to the bar and dining room. The bar was staffed late into the evening whilst I stayed there, so there was no trouble getting a nightcap after returning from an evening out on the town. Breakfast was self service, with a nice continental array and cerials.
The room was clean and furnished to a decent standard. My room was en suite, and it was nice, fresh and airy. The staff at the hotel were friendly.
I enjoyed my stay at the Piries hotel and I would recommend it for someone looking for a budget accomodation near Edinburgh city centre.
