Good for Shopaholics
21 October 2008
Brush up on your Spanish or take a phrasebook, because nobody speaks more than a few words of English. Room furnishings are a bit tired-looking and there are no tea or coffee making facilities, but everything is very clean espec. the en-suite.
Picasso is right in the centre of town so don't expect chocolate-box views, just high-rise buildings and strings of washing, but just outside is a bar-lined pedestrian precinct and within 50 metres is the main street and the top shopping area of Calle San Miguel with everything a serial shopaholic could need (and I should know . . I married one!).
The buffet meals, like every other aspect of the hotel, are very much locally orientated and four days was long enough for the food to become boring and repetitive (and we are not at all picky and enjoy Spanish food as a rule) but it was wholesome, filling and cheap so would suit anyone on a budget espec. vegetarians. At the price we paid though (less than £18pppn for half board) it was excellent value and we will go again but probably B & B.

Don't Expect any sleep
13 July 2008
Luckly we only had a 4 night stay. The hotel was convient for shops and bars etc, only snag is that all the noise from locals and tourists made it impossible to sleep. Did manage to get to sleep at about 3.30am but was woken up again t 5am by the noise of bar and shop workers, and the emptying of bottles etc.
Food was ok, very basic, great if you like everything with chips.
On a good note, the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, spoke broken english but could get by. The room was basic but had maid service every day and was clean. The air conditioner did not work in our room though, so had to keep the doors and windows open - hence all the noise. Would be a great cheap place for younger people to stay. You really do get what you pay for.

You get what you pay for
31 May 2008
We stayed at the Picasso for four days and although it was cheap I have stayed in much better 3 star hotels, there are some good points to it though. The location is quite central for the shopping centre, bars and restaurants. The Picasso is off the main road and overlooks a square with a supermarket opposite, which is handy to get drinks etc. it also means that there is no noise from cars, buses, taxis etc. However, they are all easily accessible, the waterpark and crocodile park are within walking distance but get your tickets from the resort centre because they are cheaper than paying on the door. The Picasso bar generally closes at 11.30 so you can if you want have a fairly early night without much noise. The hotel staff are friendly if you are courteous to them, the rooms are clean and tidy and the maids came in every day to clean. The Picasso has a really small pool and it is not suitable for anyone with young children as the shallow end is 1.45 metres deep and they only have a few sunbeds. The evening food is really poor so if you have fussy eaters it is not for you. The choice is very limited and usually not very warm, however you do get a free bottle of water and red wine. You are not allowed to take your own drinks into the restaurant. Breakfast consists of cereal and if you are really lucky ham and eggs that's it. The Picasso is quite high and the beach is quite a trek becasue is quite hilly with over a 130 steps down to reach it no good if you have mobility problems. There is a lift down somewhere in the town centre for a cost 50 cent but we didin't find it. A trip into Benalmadena is a must especially the harbour where you will find Marineland and the speedboats. However, at the end of the day you get what you pay for, so don't go expecting the ritz.

the hotel was ok. the location was great, right in the center of everythin! only snag is its set back off the road so u cant get a taxi to the hotel, u have to walk up to it. the room was ok, nothin spectacular. major downside. no balcony. only one side of the hotel has balconies, so if u go, just request an even numbered room.

we were a bit dubious about this hotel as we couldn't find any ratings for it, anyway we went and were totally amazed at it's location right in the middle of a square, it was a very good position close to shops/bars 5mins from train station our room was clean and tidy, shame it had no tea/coffee making facilities we stayed half board and the food we can highly recommend in the restaurant,on our last night we had entertainment in the square in the form of a theatre and watched from our balcony above shame we didn't understand the spanish language but it was a good atmosphere. we were also only 5 mins walk away from the aquapark and crocodile park. all in all we would definately stay here again full marks!!!

The Picasso was a lovely little hotel to have a short stay in the service was reasonible, but the view could of been better. The food was nice and I would go back, if I was to return back to Torremolinos.

This is my 5th hotel in Torremolinos. The hotel is near the center, little place, quiet. But at the reception: don't speak english (or a little bit), french or german...And not very kind...In the restaurant: it's the same all days and no choice. Not very clean...The room is the only one that I can say: wonderful! Great, clean, spacous. Only single room with a terrace. Just one animation on the evening: live music. 90% customers= old spanish people. The bar is great too: some tables are directly outside (the place) and not expensive! The waitress speaks only spanish but very kind and nice. The "so little" swimming pool is open only the 1st july and maybe 10 sunchairs... If I have the choice, no more in this hotel or only room between november and march.

Review of 'PICASSO'
13 June 2006
Stayed at Hotel Picasso early June 2006. There were 8 of us on our annual lads holiday & the rooms & service were absolutely excellent for the price. No problems with us coming in early hours, losing our key cards, extra towels etc, etc. Rooms are cleaned & made up every day, inc Sundays. Right in the heart of the town with a few bars & a lot of shops nearby. The only MAJOR problem with this hotel, is that it's right next door to a church, which rings it bells a couple of times every morning, starting about 9.30am & then on a Sunday morning, every 20 minutes or so until midday. And they're LOUD! We were not impressed, having got in at some early hour, to be woken up in this manner... In addition, the pool wasn't open when we went - apparently it gets filled for the beginning of July - it's tiny anyway though. Torremolinos itself is ok but the trip to & from the beach is quite hilly, with lots of steps. I didn't see this mentioned anywhere so be warned. The sand is volcanic, gets incredibly hot & is very stony by the shore, I took snorkelling gear but couldn't use it as the water isn't clear enough. The waves were fun though! Also Torremolinos is the gay capital of the Costa's so if you're straight, you'll be off to Benalmadena every night like we were! Still, all in all a pleasant hotel & an ok base for a cheap stay, especially if you're a Church-goer!

This Hotel is centrally located 5 minutes walk from the train station in a small square ,typically spanish with some reasonable restaurants and coffee shops where all the locals hang out.I had a twin room which was very clean, spacious with no frills and quiet. The hotel was full of mature spanish people who had a great time at organised events and went to bed around midnight. The staff have little english but are friendly .Breakfast was rolls, meats some fruit and yoghurts tea or coffee and a sel of cakes. I found the location great with the beach 15 mins walk and right in the middle of town. There is a small pool(more for dipping than swimming). If your not planning to spend a lot of time at the hotel but looking for a base , I would definately recommend this hotel.
