Excellent room, Modern, very clean, warm and all the facilities you need. Staff very courteous and attentive. No way is this a 1/2 star. Hotel very/very central, 5 minutes from bus and rail stations. Highly recommended. Will repeat.

What a super hotel, the location and the cleanliness is second to none. Why on earth its only a one/two star I have really no idea. The breakfast was equally as good and would recommend that you book it at the time of travel as it can be quite expensive (7.50 euro pp) if it is an after-thought. The third time for us and it just gets better!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have no idea why this is rated as 1 star.It is a central location within easy walking distance of the shops/bus/train stations. The staff are excellent and very friendly and helpful.Breakfast gives a good chice of dishes and is a good price.Cleanliness is to a standard I have sometimes not received in a 4 star rated hotel!I would definitely recommend it to anybody and intend to return there shortly with another group of friends...don't be put off by the rating the price does not reflect the standard.

Arrived in Gerona Airport ½ hour early thanks to a Ryanair tailwind and caught the bus into Gerona (Euro 1.95). The walk to the Peninsular from the bus station took about 10 minutes. On our arrival the reception was very friendly and efficient as were all the hotel staff we encountered during our 3 night stay. We were booked on room only basis (£111.00 for 3 nights) but took breakfast daily in the hotel at Euro 7 and it was spot on. Our room had a view of a wall but as it was dark most of the time we were in the room it didn’t really matter.
Gerona is quite a small city with plenty to see and the Peninsular is within easy walking distance of everywhere.
Went to Barcelona for a day trip Euro 6.25 single for a 1 ½;hour journey (20 trains a day I believe).
On checking out at mid-day we were able to leave our cases in the luggage room at the hotel and pick them up in the early evening before leaving for the airport via the bus station. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay at the Peninsular and would certainly use the hotel again and thoroughly recommend it for a short break.

Although a bit tricky to locate and there is no parking (you just have to find a space which we did really easily)the staff were friendly and the breakfasts very good. Just a stroll across the nearby bridge and you are in the old city which is really delightful - narrow streets, interesting architecture and very quiet and unspoilt - highly recommended.

Very nice 2* Hotel , situated right in the centre of the city and convenient for all the sightseeing attractions ... nice clean rooms ... good breakfast .. the only thing that lets it down is there is no bar or drinks facility in the hotel and the cafes around close very early in the evening ... but all in all a very nice hotel to stop in for a couple of nights

Peninsular is an excellent central hotel in Girona, the rooms are excellent, it is that popular that it gets fully booked quite often especially in peak seasons. The hotel also has an arrangement with nearby parking with discount. The staff are always helpful and friendly. We stay there often when travelling via Girona.

Excellent central position. Near old town and Ramblas but far enough from the church clocks tolling every hour of the night in the old town. Very comfortable room and bathroom. Noise from street funnels upwards, if you are used to complete quiet, but not enough to disturb if windows closed. Good free internet access in lobby but cannot print off. Good value and friendly staff.

We had stayed there before so knew it was, as ever clean, comfortable, stylish in an 'under-stated' way, breakfast was good. There was some overnight noise on Monday night from lorries reversing(??) but on the whole, comfortable and quiet. Good value for money.

The Peninsular is classed as budget accommodation but it is very comfortable and the staff are friendly and helpful. There are no tea or coffee facilities in the room so a travel kettle would be recommended. Breakfast is not included in the price but is a very reasonable 7 euros extra in the well laid out dining room. The main selling point of the Peninsular is its wonderful location. It is just minutes away from the old town and 5 minutes from Independence Square with its wide range of restuarants, bars and cafes. It is right next to a very pleasant bar and Valvi's an excellent fast food outlet (it is more than that actually, the food is great and the tea and coffee even better). The one drawback I can see with the hotel is the lack of air conditioning which would make it quite uncomfortable in high summer. All in all, a nice friendly (very friendly) hotel which does not cost the earth and is in an excellent location for all amenities.

We would recommend this Hotel to anyone thinking of staying in Gerona. It is clean , the rooms are a good size , the staff are friendly and helpful and the continental buffet breakfast is more than ample. The position it holds is perfect for exploring this lovely old city all the historical sights are in walking distance and there are lots of shops nearby. The tourist information is practically on the doorstep , as is the boarding point for the tourist train, which we would also recommend as it shows you parts of the city that you may miss otherwise. There is access to the city walls nearby just behind a childrens playground. From the top of the wall you may walk along all the way to the old cathedral. The views are unmissable.Enjoy!

The Peninsular is a warm, comfortable hotel, situated in a very central position, offering a first class buffet breakfast. The staff are very friendly, cheerful and helpful. A suggestion that I feel should be considered is that the rooms should have tea and coffee making facilities. This is usually offered by most hotels and is nowdays expected. The standard of cleanliness is superb. Thankyou.

Position excellent - Hotel gave us access to a safe car park a few minutes from hotel - with a special rate and facility to leave the car there the next day while we toured Gerona. No complaints re accommodation which was reasonably priced for city centre but would not go overboard as our romm was smallish. Staff ok but guy at reception was on the phone when we arrived and continued his conversation for some time.

Why is this called budget??!! Excellent central location, friendly helpful staff. Good size room, modern bathroom and facilities. Only thing lacking is air conditioning, but we stayed mid July and it really isn't necessary, the windows are huge with an electric shutter to shield from the afternoon sun. Would recommend 100% and we will be returning to the Peninsular in the Autumn. Excellent price for and excellent hotel.

The Peninsular Hotel was superb, I will definately be going back. Flew to Gerona caught the bus (really easy to find when you come out of the airport) into the town bus station for only 3.3 Euro and the hotel was less than 10 minutes walk away. Once at the hotel you had to cross the river (less than 2 mins) and you were in the heart of Gerona town. The hotel staff were helpful and polite, the rooms were absolutely immaculate with comfortable beds and the bathroom was superb. This is the cleanest hotel I have ever come across - I have never stayed in a hotel and been so impressed - if you are thinking of going to Gerona go to this hotel if you want quality and comfort on a budget.
