A good hotel within big botanical gardens

20 June 2008
Went to stay there for a week and it was was truly excellent. The standard of the rooms is high, with good modern fittings, TV, phone and balcony with views to die for. The room had a mini kitchen which we didn't use, but the fridge came in handy to chill drinks and keep sandwiches fresh. The half board food in the buffet style restaurant was not good. It was excellent. It caters for Germans, Brits, Scandanavians, Italians, Franch and Spanish, so there is always something tasty to eat. The location of the hotel is a good 15 minute walk from the hustle and bustle of town, but there is a free shuttle bus that runs every hour or so for most of the day. Because it is a bit out of the way, it is quiet and relaxing. To describe the gardens as just landscaped would be an insult. The name 'Eden' has been used well here. The gardens are exquisite, with heady perfumes and secluded corners to relax in. There are 3 pools in various locations on the grounds. There is no busy main road nearby, or construction work and the hotel is at the end of a long private road. The only noise you get is from other guests, who appear to come from relatively affluent backgrounds so respect other people's privacy and desire to sleep. The weather in the resort is good, never too hot or cool. The staff are friendly and have pride in their work, and appear to genuinely care for their guests, which is hard to come by these days. I would recommend a stay in the Eden Esplanade hotel. You'll be pleasantly surprised. We paid about 65Euros per night half board for a room for two. August 2007
