we were concerned since we had read the previous reviews on parque mourabel, and there were a few negative comments around lack of safety and that appts were dirty. glad to say that in our appt, this was definately NOT the case. so all good there. however, the receptionist could have cracked a smile now and then, but the general facilities/tours on offer etc are good. biggest tip - DONT take the offer of the courtesy room if you have checked out and later need a shower. the room we had was filthy (probably it was just before maid's arrived) - wont go into detail, but lets just say you might want to get the earlier flight!

Pe Do Lago

02 June 2007
Booked Parque Mourabel having stayed there 20 years ago! Upon arrival found out we were staying in a neighbouring complex called Pe Do Lago. Pleasantly suprised as we had only paid £130 for a week during the kids half term. The complex could only be entered via key card and this also entitled you to use the facilities at Parque Mourabel and Oasis Village. The apartment was a bit dated but plenty of space and good facilities, (fridge freezer, iron, full cooker, etc). Maid service every day except Sunday which was good. Main resort and marina was about a 30 minute walk away but we were ok as we had a car, which really helped. Would recommend Rui's Carvery behind the marina, the only place to do a proper British carvery in Vilamoura. Also a visit to Zoomarine is well worth while, even if just for the dolphin show. Overall a great value for money holiday in good clean accommodation. Would certainly recommend it to others.

Review of 'Parque Mourabel'

27 March 2007
We were twelve guys playing golf in Villamoura. This venue suited us down to the ground. The apartments were very basic and dated but for the price and for what we wanted them for they were more than adequate. I also have a young family but I cannot recommend them for a family holiday. The reception staff I will say were excellent and friendly. I must also tell you the taxis in and around Villamoura were BRILL,cheap, quick and there in minutes.
As far as in and around. The Cactus bar on the road into Parque Mourable complex was a great place to meet or start the night off and at 1 euro per pint what more could you ask for. The bar in the hotel was dated and a liitle dear. The Marina is just 10/15 minute walk or 4 euros in a taxi. When there the Irish bar is great fun with good bands. For eating we strongly recommend the "19th Hole" down by the harbour. For you golfers well you cannot go wrong. The golf courses are fabulous and well maintained. All within a short distance of each other and just 5 euros away in a taxi from Parque Mourabel.

A good hotel if you are on a budget, we paid £75.50 for four nights!  We booked the night before in a "superior" 1 bed apartment, I'm not sure what the superior element was though.  The apartment was nice and spacious and the beds were clean which is the most important thing.  The bedroom wasn't really a bedroom, more of a bed area between two walls open to the living space.  The bathroom and kitchen were very dated and floors in both rooms could do with some serious scrubbing.  The staff in reception were very helpful.  The hotel is about 30 minute walk to marina or the beach, both of which are great.  However a taxi is only 4 euros including a tip.  We had a trip to the casino, would not recommend this, the staff were very snooty and most of the gaming machines were only in Portugese, apart from that a brilliant short break.

Location - slightly out of town, although courtesy buses run during the day.
Grounds/site - Lovely well kept gardens
Accomodation - Clean & Suitable, although showers could've been better.
Staff - Eager to help
Don't miss the Cactus Bar - in complex next door - excellent prices!

We travelled to Parque Mourabel for 1 week from 10th January to 17th January 2007.  The studio was basic but had everything you need including tv, toaster, kettle, ironing board and iron.  The bathroom flooded quite a bit but as they were cleaned every day and fresh towels every day it wasnt really a problem.  The staff on reception were really friendly and helpful.

just got back from hols, very nice but very wet (rained 8 days out of 10 )
apartment was lovely ,spotless, clean towels nearly daily, food really nice, first time doing half board and wasn't disappointed, only bad thing was complete lack of evening entertainment for kids we have 3 11yrs 10yrs and 8yrs also friends came with 6yrs and 2yrs olds, no swings no pool table no air hockey table no games of any sort and evening entertainment consisted of a few local coming in and singing in the very small bar area,
swimming pool area nice, and reception great
all in all a super holiday, but would suggest investing in some kids activities and then would be fantastic

The appartments are very reasonable in price. They are spacious but a bit dated, maid service every day except Sun. The receiption staff were excellent. It is situated about 4k from Vilamoura 5 euro's in a taxi.
There are 3 resturants close by a brazillian we did not try, and two near in a small block about 200m down the road, both excellent one called cheap Chez carlos and another I can not remember the name. Local bar called the cactus 1 euro a pind excellent and excellent staff. would go back.

Arrived at the Marque Maourabel where we had 2 appts booked, on arrival advised problems with getting two appts for a full seven days, offerred us an alternative appt at CitiMar for six days and then return to Marque Mouarbel for the last day, not very pleasing. Staff all contardicted themselves all week, never took ownership of issues, concerns. Persionally a very basic acc which is need of a major refurbishment. Myslef will definately not be going back to that accomodation.

Stayed at Pe do lago apartment block, key card entry system very sercure, the accomadation was dated but very clean, maid service was daily except Sunday,
No proplem round the pool with no towel laying and plenty of beds, as there was a cosmopoliten crowd, also three pools to choose from 100 yards apart, no late noise as was a resindential area,
30 minute walk into town down a lovely landscaped path or 4 euros in a taxi, vilamoura marina is amazing.
The only bad point was sewer smell if wind was in the wrong direction but not to bad.
enjoyed our stay and would go again, for cheap low budget accomedation you could do a lot worst,I have stayed at dirty loud busy hotels and apartments for more money.

Review of 'PARQUE MOURABEL'

25 July 2006
The worst accomadation I have stayed in, the entertainment of a night was pathetic, making a trip to the marina unavoidable. This in itself brings its own problems as the 1 bus that leaves at 8 from the hotel is inadequate unless you are prepared to wait for 1 hr, getting back from the taxi rank is just as bad. When you get there, although very picturesque, again very little entertainment, give it a miss!

We've just returned from our first stay at the Parque Mourabel, Vilamoura and it certainly won't be our last!  Having read mixed reviews, we arrived for our 9 nights on a half board basis with some reservations, but we need not have worried.  The one bedroom apartment was very spacious with a balcony overlooking the sea.  It was cleaned every day except Sunday and the towels were changed three times during our stay.  Although air conditioning would have been welcome, we were provided with an extra room fan when we requested it.  The beds were comfortable, if rather short.  An iron, ironing board and hairdryer were provided.  The staff were courteous and helpful and we were able to book a variety of excursions through reception, with pick-up from the front of the hotel - this in addition to the hotel courtesy bus which runs three times daily to and from Vilamoura.  The half board menu offered a good choice of evening meals, including a children's menu, in the attractive Oasis Restaurant and the waitresses were very pleasant and spoke good English.  The hotel pool was set in a lovely garden with plenty of trees for shade.  This was definitely the best value holiday we have ever had, costing less than we have paid on a campsite in the past and with no cooking or washing up!  We also booked our airport transfers with Alpharooms (because again it was the best value) and these went very smoothly indeed.  All in all a very relaxing and stress-free experience!

Just returned from a fabulous week in the Algarve, Parque Mourabel and the Oasis Village was a relaxing place pleasant surroundings with all facilities at hand. Accomodation was well stocked and kept, staff were very helpful. The complex is only a short taxi ride away (5 euros) from the marina and main area of Villamoura with a good variety of bars and restaurants. Would recommend it for all ages with or without children.

We have just returned from our first trip to the Algarve and it  certainly won't be the last. The staff at Parque Mourabel were excellent the rooms although a little dated, are extremely clean very comfortable and are equiped with all the little extras that you don't usually find in apartments such as hairdryer, iron, ironing board, fans in the bedrooms and living area, oven, microwave, Kettle, toaster and as if that wasn't enough they are in good location to get around. As there were 4 of us we found it cheaper to use taxis for instance it was 17 Euro each to go to the Gypsy Market in Loule we paid 12 each way in a taxi, it was 3 Euro each to go on the public bus(that aren't always reliable)to Albufeira we paid 11 in a taxi. We pre-booked our airport transfers through Alpharoom and they were spot on.
We enjoyed 7 days of total tranquility.
Thank you Alpharooms

well it was cheap and we had read all the reviews so off we went. what was surprising was the warmth of the welcome - particularly after finding the place which was not easy. The apartments are old and tired.....but the sun shone for the entire stay so we were by the pool anyway. You get what you pay for - this was a cheapy easter break for us at a great price. We ate at a Fabulous local restaurant which were half the price of the harbour(and they were cheap) I would stay there again. It was sunny, hot, clean and safe....what more can you expect for about 15 pounds a night!!!

Stayed here for a long week-end, whilst watching the Golf World Cup Championships.  Had a one bedroom appartment.  Facilities were basic but clean and we didn't spend much time in the apartment.  Very close to facilities at Vilamoura, only 3EUROS taxi ride to the Marina, or 5 mins drive to golf courses.  The appartment had an outdoor patio and a small supermarket is near by.

Basically - simple accommodation at a low price.  Good value for a week-end.

this hotel is so far out of villamoura it could almost be in spain!!. free courtesy bus only holds 8 people and the guy would only do 3 runs so if more than 24 people waitng, tough. high season must be hell. no food on complex after 3.pm, then restraunt ( use the term lightly) opens 7 till 10. the selection is dire and the quality of food rubbish. the breakfast is the only saving grace to this hotel.but you must request fresh eggs, sausage etc, a walk to the marina takes approx 40 mins, but is flat all the way. rooms a good size clean.

Review of 'PARQUE MOURABEL'

25 October 2005
This was a good well-eqipped and cheap facility. The maintainance standards could have been better but the shortcomings were trivial and did not mar the holiday, for example, the balcony light did not work and in October, the evenings spent with a good book and glass of wine on the balcony were dark. Pool and restaurant were good, service was excellent. The bar was very smoky - no non-smoking areas so not pleasant unless sitting by an open window. Try "Il Boizzeiro" restaurant across from the Parque for Brazillian food and a little further along next to the main road, try "Il Carpo" for a friendly cheap family run restaurant with lovely food. There is a disressing tendency everywhere to serve chips because they think that's all the Brits eat. The bad reviews published earlier seem unbelievable after staying at the Parque. The cleaning standards are second to none. Beware the timeshare touts in Quateira & other places who invite you to tourist board exibitions!! There is no escape for several hours.

and a taxi into villamoura centre is 5 euros each way. the breakfast on the other hand was good ( though you have to order fried eggs and sausage if wanted ). the free curtesy bus only takes 8 people at a time and will not do more than 3 trips no matter how many people are waiting!!. rooms spacious, gardens well maintained.

We have been going to parque mourabel/oasis village for over 10 years now sometimes twice maybe three times a year the staff are wonderfull from the owner to the manager to the cleaners - i pick up the phone tell them my dates and thats it. they are my friends now and know some of their famlies - in our eyes portugal is the best country in the world. parque mourabel is a clean and safe place to stay, i have taken my children there since 1995 my younger daughter is now 10 and has been brought up with our portugese friends - go to mourabel i promise you will enjoy it, its basic yes but you're out in the sun most of the time the place is clean and the people are the best you could ask for- i'm just going to book now.

Our holiday was great. The apartment was a bit basic and in need of renovation but the food was excellent as were the staff. The pool area was great and very clean. Situated outside Vilamoura meant a short taxi ride to the Marina but this was OK.  Would probably go back to Vilamoura but would prefer a more modern apartment such as the Oasis Village next door.

Apartments are just Ok. They need renovation. They are rather dreary. The bathroom was pretty grimy. However, housekeeping is excellent. Towels etc changed every day. The pool is excellent, however there is one drawback. THere are no parasols. So there is zero shade unless you are under one of the trees. This is ridiculous - especially for families with young children. Reception staff are rather unhelpful. I will not be going back.

Very peaceful resort with great staff and lovely gardens.

The towels and bed linen was changed every day.

Local buses, courtesy bus and a local train take you down to the beach and the Marina.  The Marina is a must!!

The beach is beautiful, clean and never very busy and the water is clean (the beach has a European Blue Flag) and has lots of life guards around.

The apartments are a little old fashioned, but very clean and I know that they are doing them all up.

I am going back in two weeks with my children.

Review of 'PARQUE MOURABEL'

20 July 2005
Our room was very rustic and at first appearance looked a bit run down and in need of a lick of paint. However it was spotless and cleaned every day by the maid and was a generous size. The two settees in the lounge turned into beds and there were two single beds in the seperate bedroom. There was a great set of cooking utensils with really high quality stainless pots and pans. Plenty of crockery and cutlery too. The oven worked o.k apart from one ring on the hob, but we didn't mind. The pool was cleaned every day and was surrouded by a huge grassy area with plenty of room between the sunbeds. Lots of shade available from the palm trees too. We never dined in the restaurant however we did look in and saw that the tables were laid with nice linen covers. The bar was not too large and there was entertainment most nights also. The reception was busy most times as this was the reception for another two hotels in the Oasis complex. Taxi from the hotel to the Pharmacy (taxi rank) at the Harbour cost 5 euros or a 10-15 minute walk would get you there for free!! There are some really nice restaurants close by (70-80 euros for family of 4). Check out the one with the black bull sign just across the road. It serves very authentic Portuguese food and has a fantastic modern outdoor area with pools. Eating at the restaurants aound the marina will cost around 100-120 euros for two adults and two children with drinks and wine included. Try Quartiera for cheaper dining, there are some great restaurants there. This was our first trip to Portugal and we will definately be back. This hotel will be top of our list too.

Fab fab fab spacious accommodation - very quiet family orientated - the most welcome i have ever felt and very safe; trying my hardest to come back for next year. There is so much here for children on the algarve - perfect family accomodation and resort. There are 2 supermarkets near by, bars and restaurants but this is no place for night club fanatics - life stops by midnight.  Free bus takes you down to the beach and brings you back up to 4 times a day, beaches are the cleanest i have ever seen and they are not jam packed. Absolutely fab water parks for children, zoo marine is a must too, all this at very affordable prices. What are u waiting for?

Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The kitchen was painted black and the smell from the bathroom was terrible. When we complained about the smell they sent a cleaner up with air freshener. I stayed at the Parque Mourabel, about 2 years ago and didn't enjoy my stay which was in winter as the apartment was cold, and quite dreary.  It seemed a bit run down, and left a lot to be desired.
My parents who are pensioners also stayed there for 2months, and didn't like Parque Mourabel, because of the location, which was quite far outside town, and no shops.  There was hotel courtesy bus, but it was always crowded.
