As they say, Location Location Location! You must get a room with a lake view as it is a pure fairytale setting, looking across to the little island (the only one in Slovenia). Hotel interior is somewhat impersonal, but good quality and the staff go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Good size rooms. Both breakfast and dinner are superb, with a massive choice. Clientele mainly a mix of English and German but not exclusively. A nice touch is that you are allocated a table in the dining room for the duration of your stay. After dinner, walk off the effects of the excellent local house wine with a stroll around the lake.
Only two criticisms, firstly the lack of any tea/coffee facilities (and no room service after 11pm, we had to walk out to an independent bar for an evening cup of tea) and the sound of entertainment coming up from the restaurant over the road is quite repetetive (Abba cover versions every night it seemed). but, we loved it, it was good value for a 4* and we will be back as soon as we can justify it. And as well as the hotel having its own pool, a 5 minute walk to its sister hotel the Golf gives you free access to a fantastic pool/slide/spa complex with quality massage treatments available at a reasonable price. We had two. (well, it was our honeymoon!)
