A classical experience!

22 July 2008
A name that befits the Hotel - a true palace. Designed in a classical Greek style the theme is all pervasive throughout the hotel. Beatifully marbled floors are offset with huge gilted pillars and statues of Greek gods. The theme continues into the well maintained gardens and pool areas where you can find yourself sunbathing next to a statue of a Greek discus thrower. The grandiose setting is not a facade for what lies ahead. We have stayed in many four star hotels and this one is not to be beaten. Accommodation, food, swimming pools and service were all to a high standard. There was even a highly successful procedure in place for the gathering of sunbeds - quite refreshing not to have to get up at dawn to beat some of our continental neighbours. The descriptions of this hotel as a grandiose place are not wrong, it is awe inspiring - a true palace! Ten days of no complaints but the downside was the flight. Beware, beware of Ryan Air and all their little add ons. Just about everybody who checked in were then sent to pay some sort of added extra. A young couple with a baby were charged 20 euros to bring their baby home, even though it says infants travel free. Airport taxes, it was explained! They may appear cheap but they catch you out with all the extras. Check carefully for the small print or pay a littlebit more for a flight where it does exactly what it says on the tin!

Lovely Hotel,great staff.

11 June 2008
We arrived on the 1st May for 12 nights on a half board basis. This hotel is very impressive on arrival and after that it just got better and better. The food was excellent and our two children aged 7 and 10 loved the buffet. Our room had a sea view and was cleaned every day, entertainment for the children was very good with games and mini disco at night. The two childrens entertainers Alicia and Diego were professional, friendly and always got a great reaction from the little ones. The pool area was really nice with a water slide and the lifeguards were very attentive, never taking their eyes from the pool. The bar area outside had some good shows each night including Flamenco dancing,a Brazilian show,Karaoke, and some solo performers too.We found the bar staff to be friendly and helpful. The beach is a two minute walk as is the bus stop, the water park takes 5 minutes to walk.It is possible also to book a trip at reception to see fc Barcelona with tickets and return bus.All in all I would highly recommend this hotel for a nice relaxing holiday for people of all ages and we will be back.

Palais Pineda

03 June 2008
Very impressive reception area, polite pleasant staff, decent rooms that were cleaned to a high standard each day and VERY close to the beach in La Pineda. An excellent pool with a water slide for the kids (7 Years +), and plenty of space for sunbathing. I did notice people 'marking' sun loungers with towels as there were no signs to prohibit this practice. There are 2 main dining areas, 1 large, 1 smaller, the bigger feels like a cattle shed so I'd opt for the smaller of the two. The food was OK, not brilliant, just OK. sometimes a little cold, and lacking in the choice that I've enjoyed in other hotels in La Pineda. A hot vegetarian dish each day shouldnt be a major hassle for example. all in all its a strong 3 out of 5, perhaps maybe a 4 on a good day.

Lovely hotel...shame about the hurricane!

15 May 2008
Stayed for a romantic weekend 9-11 april 2008. Arrived in pouring rain but still entrance and reception was impressive. Rain and wind persisted and worsened to gale force! We took refuge in the bar and our room, unfortunately our patio door broke so our room became very cold. Informed reception many times over 24hrs only to be informed that the maintainance man had collapsed! Food was good..loved the cava with breakfast! Entertainment was non exsistant during the day and mediocre at night. Lovely base hotel when the normal Spanish sun is shining. Pool area was lovely, indoor tiny, spa ok,gym good.

MY NAME IS PALAS PINEDA!

08 April 2008
The hotel was amazing in every possible aspect. It looked impressive and grand with it's marble floored reception and the staff at the desk were helpful.. The location was perfect ; close to the beach, waterpark and bus stops constantly running to other places of interest (Salou, Tarragona, Barcelona).. The rooms were clean and tidy and we even had an ongoing joke with one of the many maids about how messy our room was that she chased my sister down the corridor..Que Bromas! (what jokes)!!.. The pools were clean and surrounded by palm trees and there was a waterslide suitable for young and old alike (a 37 year old man even did the butt slide).. The gym was well equipped and rarely busy (but that probably says more about some of the fatties staying there).. The bar staff were wonderful and the chubby security guards have such funny angry faces..it makes you want to shout even louder at 4 in the morning! The food was always hot and yummy.

My Review

08 April 2008
When I first arrived the hotel looked beautiful with it's beach views from the balcony and excellent pool facilities available. The food was hot and was always a pleasure too eat. The beach was near and you only had to walk down to find bars, shops, restuarants, water park and available bus services. All the staff we're enthusiastic and keen to lend a helping hand. The entertainment in the evening was good but it could also be worked upon. I rate this hotel 10/10. The rooms we're refreshing and we're always clean.

October half term 2007.

25 October 2007
The hotel was very clean and there was a maid service every day. There was only crisps available in between meals and the bottom bar wasn't always open. We arrived on the 17th of October 2007, and because it was out of season the mini club, mini disco and the adult entertainment wasnt on which i thought was bad they could have at least kept it running until after half term. Also because of the time that we went there was much choice of food for the children, other than that it was a very nice hotel.

Perfect site for Port Adventura buses door to door .Beach view from hotel. Food great for adults but children struggled a bit as fussy eaters. Could have done with more entertainment on the evening as travelled in oct near end of season. Good Clean hotel polite staff we went all exclusive which was fantastic value.

Booked for 5 days last minute through Alpha rooms, Nice clean room and we were fully inclusive. First room given was overlooking car park, complained and they moved us next day to overlook , beach and pool area which was great.  Food was ok, exactly what u expect on fully inclusive loads of choice but gets boring. drink was good, need to queue in separate area to get one though. this was no painas the place was relatively quiet. This however would be a major hassle in peak season I reckon so be warned. Staff were very stern and looked depressed  as if season had taken its toll. However for the price it was ok. Pool good for kids but absolutely freezing, indoor one small and have to wear cap.   Resort was closed I reckon, as no restuarants were open . U get what u pay for. This would be avery busy hotel in peak season so I weould not what to go then but for this time of year and for price it was great.

Hi, this was our second visit to Palas Pineda during October.(2005 & 06)the hotel is very nice with good variety of food - you will always find something to your taste. Rooms are excellent, clean with daily maid service. The grounds and poo area are very nice with great views overlooking same and beach - be sure to request a room with this view by e  - mail before you travel.
It is a quiet resort and the hotel staff are pleasant and friendly in the main.Public transport is excellant and there is a good value trip to Barcelona ,Nou Camp and shopping. €25. Only disappointment was hte evening entertainment which was an open air diso for young children but other hotels have a better choice within walking distance. The bar shut promptly at midnight and you have to finish off in the reception or take drinks uo to the room - (if you like a few late ones)
Overall a pleasant, clean resort.Enjoy - we did.

We all had a great time - hotel was very nice and clean.  All rooms had great views and were more than comfortable.  We were all inclusive and food was good.  There were so many choices that there was always something you could find to eat and plenty of it.  Drinks were fine - only 2 at a time which is OK.  Pool was a bit chilly but not unbearable.  Only minor complaint is that bar staff could be a bit friendlier.  Otherwise, all in all a great hotel.

Hotel inside was very clean and lovely. Ouside terrace and pool area was not cleaned all week though. Room was very nice and was cleaned everyday.
On arrival we checked in ok but other couples arrived to find that the hotel had overbooked and we're moved to other accomodation.
Food was very nice but there was not much entertainment.

we travelled end sept/ beginning oct so out of season .
2rd trip to hotel first was in june 05 and there was a lot more entertainment in evenings ,hotel needed to be prompted to open kids club and clean pool ( pool was clean just needed a quick hoover ) . both done without question immediately so you cannot fault service .  rooms and hotel immaculate and food of the continental type with themes most night  if you appreciate food and dont want slop then you will like food . if you want burgers/hotdogs and chips then dont go here . more steak ,pork lamb, chicken and seafood.  get to resterant early to get best food . towels and sheets changed freqently. the visitors to hotel tend to be a mix of spanish, russian , continentals and british . no lager louts here.  hotel shuts down at 12 pm  so good for families if you want nightlife go to salou . recommend for people who want quiet family trip, or couples  . if i go again it would be during june /july/aug as better for kids .

Well, Well,
I seem to hit the nail on the head with alpha rooms, the Palas was a great hotel by far.  We went half Board which included breakfast and Evening Dinner, the food was great, all you could eat.  My two aged 10 and 12 years had a ball.  We booked a family room, may have been a bit tight, would see could I get bigger the next time.  Great entertainment for the kids in the evening time.  Nice pools, get up early to get your sunbed though. Location very central to everything, beach, port aventura, airport.  Staff were really nice and friendly especially, Jimmy, he know the cupla fochal.  Was my first time using Alpha Rooms, so from a beginner to you, have no worries, rooom will be ready, everything spot on.  I won't be booking my holidays through travel agents again as this was the cheapest and best so far.  Thanks

This hotel is fantastic place to stay for a family or couple, we went the last week in May and for went fully inclusive, the food and the drink flowed, for children there was crips and ice cream available all day too. The food was excellent and the choice very good and catered well for children. La Pineda is more upmarket then Salou and the beach is one of the best I have been too in Spain. There was a good mix of all nationalitys which was nice too, this really is a must for anyone on a budget as you really would not have to spend any money as the hotel caters for all your desires!!

Excellent Hotel at an excellent price, we arrived at 10.00am,  we asked for a sea view and the smiling receptionist said 'no problem' we were allowed into our rooms immediately, we had opted to stay all inclusive so we were issued with wristbands to use in the bar and restaurant. All local alcohol, sangria, bottles of wine, soft drinks, spirits, tea and coffee were included from 10.00am until 11.00pm, Breakfast,Lunch and Dinner with snacks of crisps and ice cream were also included, The restaurant was Buffet style, Meat and Fish were cooked fresh on the grill at both Lunch and Evening meal, there were also several different kinds of salad and soups available and selections of Fish, Meat and Poultry  to choose from every meal and a special section for kiddies meals.Lots of choices on desserts as well.
The two pools had gushing waterfalls and a water slide set amongst a tropical garden, there was also a childrens pool, Plenty of sunbeds.
Indoor pool, hairdressers and gym are also on site.
Rooms were lovely and cleaned very day. We did not spend a penny extra on site all week!!
Tennis Courts and Table tennis were available, although we did not use them.
Set opposite a beautiful beach with plenty of shops and bars nearby, not to mention the waterpark five minutes walk away! Fifteen minutes on the bus to Portaventura, Bus Fare 1.40euros standard single, this was an excellent setting and brilliant value for money holiday.
We will be going back soon!!

I travelled to this hotel with my two sons their partners, two children under 11 and a six month old baby and my freind. We could not find fault with anything. The hotel is spotlessly clean. The food was varied and beautifully presented. The staff were extremely pleasant and very helpful. We had a thoroughly enjoyable week and my friend and I would love to return again very soon.

What a turn up !!  Booked this as a last minute cheapy (Ryan Air & Alpha Rooms) and have to say it was a smart move and with the weather kind we had a brilliant time.
We went All Inclusive which is must because La Pineda had all but closed down during this the second week in November.  The drink flowed but the food was absolutely first rate.  Loads of choice, always someting different, never empty trays, never cold, food for us plus a selection for our daughter who is three.  We were waited on hand and foot.
A word of warning book at a similar time to us and be prepared to share a Hotel with a couple hundred manic Spanish pensioners (who were lovely and really livened the place up).
We will be back there soon !

Arrrived 18th september stayed for 4 days myself ,friend and teenage daughter.Really good quality hotel one of the best in salou.good value for money especially if you are all inclusive.Food is of good quality and plenty of choice, the fussiest of eaters  i would say are well catered for.
Rooms very clean and so is the hotel in general.Good size swimming pool but abit chilli for me (should be heated).Staff are ok and helpful although some bar staff need to be taught how to smile. You do have to queue for quite a while at the bars especially after 9 oclock. The only downfall is the entertainment at night it is aimed at the Spanish guest rather than the British and in general there were more Brits than other nationalities. OVERALL I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL AND WOULD RETURN.

I have justed returned from 7 days H/B.  We had a fabulous time, the Hotel is very clean, and the staff are friendly.  There is lots on for the children during the day and evening.  Plenty of choice at Dinner, so caters for all.  I would go all inclusive next time, I would like to re book for June 2006, but nothing available at the moment with alpha rooms.  Well Strongly recommend.

I was apprehensive as I have never booked a holiday on line before.  I was pleasantly surprised!  Food was delicious - something for everyone - even your most fussiest family member.  Beach view from balcony.  Pool ideal for children.  Bus to everywhere, Barcelon, Reus, Tarragona, Cambrils, Salou across the road.  Water park, beach and shops within walking distance.  Would certainly recommend it and cheaper than last year's caravan holiday in France!

Review of 'PALAS PINEDA'

Was a little apprehensive as the hotel was not in any travel agents brochures which I looked through.

We hired a car from Barcelona airport (1 hr drive approx.) and driving along the attractive beachfront road we spotted the impressive looking Palas Pineda Hotel just slightly off the promenade.

First impressions were excellent - large marble covered reception area with view at far end to pool and beach beyond.

All rooms seem to have balcony and most have sea views.

Not many English people at hotel (which we liked), mainly I think Russian with some Spanish, Italian and only a few Germans!

My two teenage kids and wife and I loved the pool. The food was all very good - buffet style and chips for the kids if they are not too adventurous. Evening entertainment was international and interesting.

Beach two minutes from main entrance and excellent and not as busy as nearby Salou.

Well recommended if you like to get away from your fellow Brit for a while.

Try it!!
