I now make a habit of reading online reviews before booking hotels although sometimes you need to perhaps some with a pinch of salt.Mostly everything I'd previously read about this hotel was pretty much spot on. It appears to be a hotel that tries to cater for both business and tourist and this is reflected in its official rating 4 * tourist (equiv.to 3* business in my book).Despite staying for a week which was still in high season(Aug.bank holiday week) the hotel seemed to be quiet which meant a peaceful time by the pool but a lack of atmosphere elsewhere in the hotel (which suited us just fine!).if you stay in Albufeira, why would you want the hotel to provide entertainment when there is so much of it elsewhere and close at hand? They did provide a weekly barbeque and also advertised Aqua Aerobics in the pool (which didn't happen).Also,the gym equipment is sparser than the advertising lets on.But these are minor points.As has been said before, this well poistioned hotel in general and specifically the apartments (our 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom one was was generously proportioned and could easily accomodate 6, perhaps plus 2 small children) are kept clean and maintained to a good standard although the fixtures and fittings in the kitchen and bathroom are 'tired' and will need renewing. We are quite fussy but would recommend this hotel as value for money and may return one day.

first time at the algave hotel great location. rooms clean breakfast good stayed from 22 june to 27th june very hot .would go again hotel quite . well located.
