Very nice hotel, not great location

17 June 2007
We spent four nights at the Omni, having got a very good rate on alpharooms. The hotel is beautiful, and staff were very helpful. From Monday to Friday, there are plenty of cafes where you can get a good breakfast at a very reasonable rate, however they are all shut at the weekend which ties you a bit to having breakfast in the hotel - Excellent selection but expensive, as you would expect. Ate in the restaurant one evening - Pricey but very good. Location is ok, not great, but it didn't bother us as you drive pretty much everywhere in LA anyway. Would stay in this hotel again.

Review of 'Omni Los Angeles'

We stayed at the Omni twice during December 2006 (two days, one day) on a vacation trip to the US for the family. We booked the Omni on Alpharooms on the basis of cost, position and other travellers' reviews. We weren't disappointed. Great staff, clean, comfortable and well appointed rooms, quiet ambience and easy access to downtown LA were all to our liking. We were on upper floors each time overlooking the plaza with the musical fountain and the Christmas decorations. The food court in the plaza was an added bonus, we had breakfast at Starbucks a few times for little money (Omni breakfast is expensive).

Others have complained about the Omni parking cost, if you've also stayed in NY on the same trip LA parking seems cheap!! We found the room a little cramped for three with holiday luggage, however it was no smaller than most A1 class hotels. We'll stay there again and probably with Omni elsewhere. For whatever reason Alpharooms has the best rates for Omni on the www by far, a real deal!!

Review of 'Omni Los Angeles'

29 December 2006
We stayed 23-27 December. The hotel is top class, every amenity, very helpful and attentive staff, but our mistake was choosing the hotel for the holiday period. It is located in downtown L.A. in the heart of the 'City Financial District', so it was literally dead. It is close to the new Disney Concert Hall and Museum of Contemporary Art,which were closed! but the other immediate suroundings are not very salubrious - many down and outs, tramps and beggars and not very secure to walk out in the evenings, hence eating options limited to hotel and a handful of expensive restaurants very close to hotel or a taci ride away. Unless you use taxis, local transport is complex to understand, but very cheap. People do not walk!! Hotel staff were not very knowledgeable about how to use tube and buses to get around. Hotel a bargain, but location not ideal during the holiday season.

Omni Los Angeles is a five star hotel for two star price

11 December 2006
I had an amazing stay at the Omni Hotel, Los Angeles. In fact, no matter what Omni Hotel I stay in, I always have a great stay. The Omni brand gives you a five star hotel for the price of a 2 or 3 star property. Everything is always spotless, the beds are amazingly comfortable, and the staff is among the finest I have ever encountered except for possibly the Ritz-Carlton or Four Seasons brands. Once again, the big difference is the price you pay. I paid the price of a Ramada Inn or a hotel at the aiport, and instead got the Omni, downtown Los Angeles. Even though you are downtown, you are actually pretty centrally located to Hollywood, the airport, or the beaches. Lots of great restaurants near the hotel, but the Omni Hotel itself has outstanding dining options...and 24 hour room service. I had a huge banana split brought to my room at 11pm. Even though I was on business, I came home feeling like I had a mini vacation. When I travel worldwide, the first thing I do is check to see if there is an Omni Hotel in the city.

Outstanding value.  First rate hotel. Excellent facilities.  Free safety deposit box service.  Extremely helpful and eager to please staff.  In a city based on the motor car the free car transport within 3 miles of hotel is a boon.

My family and I spent the 4th of July weekend at the Omni in LA and and found the rooms quite comfortable, the beds were great, and the shower world class. The location is central to many areas of LA and once you get acquainted with the freeway on/off ramps, you can breeze right on and get anywhere fairly quickly. Only complaints are the $24/day parking (seems a bit pricey, actually more than my rental car!) and the lack of amenities in the lobby area, coffee shop, convenience store and such.

Review of 'OMNI LOS ANGELES'. The Omni Hotel, a very discreet place to stay in Downtown L.A.

30 March 2005
The Omni was great. Everything quiet and understated. Good room service as in when you don't even know it's there. Very tasteful Japanese themed interior decorations. Great location; next door to the Museum of Contemporary Art (free on Thursdays) and literally a stone's throw from the new Frank Gehry Disney Concert Hall. Fancy dinner? The Dash bus stops within feet of the door, jump on and go to Chinatown for lunch, it'll cost you 25c. Or shopping? Stay on the bus and go down to Macey's. We have travelled in California a lot, like a second home in some ways, so we're not easily impressed but this place was a real find.
