Couldn't Fault It!

28 May 2008
We have just returned from this wonderful hotel after enjoying our honeymoon there. We were in the Los Zocos resort for the first 4 days but it was that dreadful we rebooked online via Alphrooms and got the remainder our our stay all inclusive at the Grand Teguise and we were so glad we did. The food was lovely and very varied. I'm a veggie and didn't have any problems with choosing something different everyday and evening. The all inclusive lives up to it's name with almost everything you want included, even champagne. We even had a complimentary bottle waiting for us in our room on arrival. The sea views from each room are stunning and the pools are lovely. The two larger ones being sea water and one of them heated. The children's pool was fresh water and away from the adult areas (which was lovely!). The outdoor bar was great and all the staff were the friendliest we've ever come across. The beach was right on the boundary of the hotel and the sea was warm enough to swim in (we went snorkelling - lots of beautiful fish!) There are plenty of trips and outings you can book either in the hotel or from the reps walking around the town and on the beach. (very nice reps that don't annoy you). The rooms were clean and we had a large round bath with a very good shower. The rooms are cleaned every day and everything is to a very high standard. We will definitely be returning to this hotel, probably each year on our anniversary! Excellent choice!!

EXCELLANT STAY

14 January 2008
After spending 10years visiting Costa Teguise trying out several differant accomodations we finally found the best. Apart from the carpets in the hallways needing renewing I could find no complaints. Excellant rooms, excellant service, the staff are noticably well trained, a thourally enjoyable experiance.

First impressions usually count for a lot, and in this case they certainly did. The position of this hotel is excellent, and the grand exterior makes no pretence at being humble, almost fully glass fronted from floor to the 6th floor.
All rooms are sea view, so no supplements here for the priveledge, rooms are light airy and about average size for 4 star, decent beds, sat tv.. be sure to flick through to higher channels past the pay per view ones, that's where the english ones are! mini bar and a good sized safe are also available, though the safe was just over 2 euros a day, it was still good value as it easily fitted everything into it. Bathrooms ave. size though big enough to fit a bidet too, plenty of soap, shampoo etc if you dont take your own. Rooms cleaned to a good standard and towels changed every day if you so wish.
The bar is on the lower floor along with a revolving section of seating and an indoor mini lagoon and a couple of stages for the nightly entertainment, some were ok but some were really good.  Also on the same level are the restaurants.. one being Buffet the other an Italian, the food was reasonably varied and of good quality, the bbq season had just started and was very good.
I should point out that there were a few disabled people staying so it seems no problems on that front either, even the heated  pool had a gentle slope and hand rail at one end of it. There are 2 good sized pools and plenty of sunbeds too! beach towels available for 5 euro dep. We stayed on all inclusive.(was cheaper than HB..) and the 3 day replenishment of the mini bar was included, along with food and drink available from from 630 til midnight.
The true test of a good hotel is if you would return and we definately will be.

Review of 'OCCID.GRAND TEGUISE PLAYA'

Arrived at the hotel and checked in very smoothly.  First impressions where very good, although after a few days we realised it could do with moderisation carpets were abit thread bare and walls could do with a lick of paint.  Staff and service's where excellent.  Facilites throughout the hotel where also very good, with an excellent pool area and different activities for the children.
Entertainment was also on every night and this proved to be a good end to the day.
We also found out that for an extra 15 euros per person ( 7 for kids) that you could go all inclusive - which meant that all drinks and food where free.  This worked out to be an excellent offer.  ( The hotel has only started this offer, and is on a trial base only).

Hotel terrific, food excellent and as much as you could eat. Facilities superb and well maintained, pool(s) great the heated one is a big plus, tennis courts, crazy golf, lots of activities if you wish but no pressure to participate. Staff very helpful and rooms immaculate. Evening entertainment a bit amateurish but the bar is good ,try the cocktails. The proximity to the beach is great with a very sheltered small bay and sandy beach.

not quite 4*

08 November 2005
This hotel was probably a good hotel in the past however, it was a little tired and in need of some tender, loving care.  The pool area was very nice as was the access to the beach but the actual hotels needed re-furbishment.  The bedrooms were very small and I was glad we were only there a week as I don't know where we would have put our clothes for 2 weeks.  The food was very average and we ate out 5 of the 7 nights we were there.  The staff in general were polite and happy but did not go out of their way to ask if we were enjoying our stay or if there was anything they could do to make it more appealing.  All in all I would not return to this hotel as there a great many nicer hotels in Lanzarote and far more enjoyable restaurants to sample good food.

Review of 'OCCID.GRAND TEGUISE PLAYA'

30 September 2005
Just returned from a week's stay at Gran Teguise Playa in Lanzarote.
I would love to give this hotel a 5/5 rating but in all conscience I cannot. The hotel is excellent in almost all respects, the friendly and efficient staff, the beautiful and well run hotel, the excellent facilities, the clean comfortable rooms and the prime location.
Sadly however I have to report that the evening meal in the main restaurant was, to us, very disappointing to say the least. We only went in twice and gave up. The food seemed to be of good quality but the way it was cooked left everything with the same aftertaste and smell, which very quickly became revolting to us.
In summary we would gladly return to this hotel but only on a bed/breakfast booking.
      Hope this helps,
              Neil.

Overall, we were
pleased with this hotel, however the rooms did not meet my expectations of a four star hotel.  On arrival, the reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful and i was impressed by the fact that our luggage was taken immediately to our room by a porter.

We were very impressed by the efficiency of the maids. The room was cleaned thoroughly and towels in bathroom changed every day.
Bar and restaurant staff very helpful and friendly.

What a great hotel!  Friendly staff, spacious clean rooms, great facilities and a lovely beach.  The attention to detail that really stood out was the surprise left in the room for us - free Champagne and fresh fruit  along with a letter from the hotel manager wishing me a happy birthday and thanking us for choosing to spend it at the hotel with them.

The food was very good, far better than we expected, there is even champagne available for breakfast when you go for the daily breakfast buffet.  We went H/B and were more than happy with the evenings food also.

The evening entertainment is good but not great, pretty much the same each evening, just a different themes of dancing.  If you fancy a change you can reach the local bars in no time at all.  One thing to watch out for when going to watch the shows is the revolving floor, it's great watching the new guests come in and sit in what they perceive to be the best seats in the house for the show, only to be at the back when the show starts because the floor is revolving :-)

Getting there is no problem, it is easy to reach from the airport and the taxi drivers all seem to know where it is, it costs approximately 15 euros.

All in all great value for money, highly recommended.

The standards and services at this hotel are four star plus. Exceptionally beautiful rooms and furniture, friendly cleaning staff and thorough cleaning. Very professional attitude from all staff from reception to restaurant. Baggage taken to your room as soon as you check in. Large vibrant restaurants with the most extensive range of food especially the breakfast buffet. Hotel pool area has a gate directly onto the lovely beach and walkway where you can stroll in either direction for at least an hour, possibly more. Hotel design is a high open plan indoor balcony style which give it a very open and spacious feel when you leave your room as you can see below to the bar/seating area and all around. Very asthetic pleasing place to stay, no large groups of screaming children.

The bus to the Teguise Sunday market picks up from this hotel and you can reserve your seat at reception. Hotel has internet access a few small shops in the reception area, many lifts on both sides of the building and well maintained pool area toilets. Squash courts and equipment very good but if I had one slightly negative things to say it would be that the gym is not 100%. I tend to find that when I am away though. Gym facilities seem to be basic rather than extensive. It is adequate.

Hotel is in a peaceful environment, very relaxing and worth the price. You can book B&B, half board or full board and you usually get fresh fruit in your room on arrival. Evening entertainment is inoffensive. I've just booked another two weeks half board as there is so much to eat at breakfast a light afternoon snack keeps you going until evening.
