May Getaway
13 May 2008
Hotel is in a good location. Our room was very small at side of hotel very close to next building. Could see other rooms lot nicer. Reception staff extremely helpful. Luggage room available from checkout until luggage needed. Breakfast OK but a lot of chipped crockery. If not careful table cleared whilst getting breakfast. Barcelona great - would use Hotel again if price remains reasonable.

October in Barcelona
06 October 2007
Good location just off la Rambla. The hotel itself is lovely, all marble and very ornate. The rooms were clean, but ours was very small and although we had a balcony, the building opposite was very close, making the room dark. We had to have the light on during the day and the curtains closed. Our bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable, just what you need after a full day walking! It would have been nice to have had tea/coffee making facilities in our room. As other reviews have noted, breakfast was very basic, one day everyone had to queue for crockery. The staff were polite when asked a question, but otherwise were not very forthcoming. The restaurant was only open at lunchtime and we didn't use it, so I can't comment on the quality. There are lots of good places close by to eat, drink and shop and bus stops for the tour buses are handy. All in all, we enjoyed Barcelona, it was bigger and busier than I expected, but full of interest, our four days wasn't nearly long enough! Whenever we return we will not be staying at Hotel Nouvel.

Hotel Nouvel - Excellent Choice
30 September 2007
We have just returned from a 7 night stay at the Hotel Nouvel and thought it was a great little place in a perfect location. The rooms were quite basic but very clean and the towels were changed daily. We were lucky enough to have a room overlooking the street with a lovely quaint balcony. If you are looking for good value for money we would definitely recommend this hotel.

Hotel Nouvel

We thought the Hotel was a perfect location as it was near La Ramblas. There is some decorating being done at present however it did not disturb us. The room was a good size although I do believe some of the rooms were smaller and some did not have windows. There was no need to pay for the television remote as you could turn the telly on from the back. The breakfast was quite adequate although some mornings there was a lack of crockery and cutlery. The staff were extremely helpful especially the French gentleman who helped us with the sight seeing bus. We would definetly use the hotel again and recommend it to others.

Hotel Nouvel
17 September 2007
Fantastic central location and a gorgeous old building with helpful and friendly staff. The rooms that our party stayed in were all comfortable and most importantly, extremely clean, although a couple of them were on the small side. The breakfast was basic and not very well organised on busy days due to an apparant lack of crockery and cutlery, but overall an enjoyable stay. Considering this hotel is three stars I was expecting worse and would definately stay there again. (and that is something coming from someone who does not usually stay in less than four star!) I had read reviews before we left that stated the decor was very dated, but during our stay the hotel was undergoing renovation which will address those negative aspects. Even so the renovations were being sympathetically done and did not in any way interfere with the enjoyment of our stay.

Hotel Nouvel
01 August 2007
The hotel is in a perfect position, just off La Rambla very near to the Catalunya Plaza. Situated in an old ornate building with fantastic decor inside. Room was quite small but had a brand new bathroom and nice cool air-con. We had booked Bed & Breakfast but might as well have left the breakfast becuase it wasn't spectacular! Bog standard continental but not very nice in quality. Staff were very nice and helpful and spoke very good English. TV's in room with very small selection of channels-only English speaking channel was CNN. Don't bother getting a remote for the TV-was a 20 Euro deposit just for volume control! A little bit excessive I thought! Overall really good stay. Would definitely choose the hotel again when in Barcelona.

Expected Better
19 July 2007
The location of the hotel was excellent and it was also clean and tidy. Some of the staff were polite others were extremely rude. Breakfast was a shambles; there was a lack of clean crockery, cutlery and food. Staff turned out the lights whilst people where still eating and I heard staff being rude to several customers. On complaining to one of the managers about the issues he walked away withoug giving me any resolution or help. Despite the excellent location I would not recommend staying at this hotel and we will in future stay somewhere else. One member of staff was particularly at fault by using racist and homophobic language.

Fantastic location & customer service
25 April 2007
I have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Hotel Nouvel. The location of the hotel is fantastic as it is just off La Rambla and less than 5 minute walk to Placa Catalunya; the hotel is located on a quiter side street just off the main drag so you are not disturbed by the hustle and bustle when you need to sleep. The main areas of the hotel are really beautiful and ornate and although this doesn't follow through to the bedrooms, they are nicely decorated and have nice flat screen tv's and modern bathrooms. I found the staff at the hotel to be really helpful and they all spoke perfect english. The only improvement I would suggest, is that they should have a larger selection of foods for breakfast.

The hotel was in a great location, within easy distance to all amenities, however bedroom a little on the small side. The breakfasts could do with a bit more variety on a day to day basis.

The Hotel was an ideal location for getting around Barcelona on foot, just next to The RAMBLAS and Place De Catalunya.Great for Airport transfer by bus and using the Tourist sightseing buses. The staff were both very freindly and informative nothing too much trouble, getting tickets for football and buses direct from reception.Room very comfortable and clean and a quiet haven to recharge the battery for the next day.Breakfast was plentiful and up to 10:30 to enable a lie after a busy day shopping and/or dining drinking at the many bars and restaurants close by.Well worth a recommendation.
