Jo and Ricks review of the Norte!
11 August 2008
We spent 1 week in the Norte and to be honest it was extremely loud and not as clean as we had hoped. The staff were lovely and always happy to help and the pool which is just across the street was great. Breakfast consists of 2 pieces of warm bread and a pot of tea or coffee so you may want to consider eating out for breakfast if youd like something more filling! Food in the hotel is tasty not too bad value for money either if you like burgers and chips. Location was good only about 5-10 mins walk from the ship inn but very noisy so if you like a lie in then this is not the most ideal place for you! in comparison to other hostels that I have stayed in whilst working in Ibiza i'd say the room was smaller than average but does have a balcony which was great. If your going to be there over the hottest months of summer, then I strongly recomend you hire a fan from the reception as room gets hot hot hot! this will cost you 3 euros a day and a 20euro deposit is required. All in all, a good week great location to west end and pool however noisy and our beds were not changed with fresh sheets, just remade with the old ones! Our second week in Hostel Cervantes was much better value for money i'd recomend this one.... have a brill time on the island! :-) Jo x x

best place to stop in san an!
01 August 2008
I cant praise this hotel enough! everything was perfect! we had the best week ever. Room was cleaned every day as long as we were up in time, the bar area was good and paco and the chips are great! reasonably priced food and alcohol, pool was fine and very clean with plenty of sunbeds, we had a big balcony which was great! We plan on going again next year and stopping at the same place. My cousin was in san antonio at the same time stopping in an 18-30s hotel, had paid alot more and said that our hotel was better. We met a great group of people and went out in a big group from hostal norte most nights and all looked out for each other. Only thing i can say is no air-con so take a fan or hire one from reception, and there was a reasonable amount of noise from the street below at night, but I figured if your tired enough not to be out then your tired enough to sleep through the noise!

Blinding!!!
10 July 2008
Wow!! Think we were lucky with the 'penthouse' of the hostel as we had a lounge and a balcony. The place was quiet, comfortable and great for what you pay! The bar area is lovely, the pool is just what you need on a hot day and is very clean and i would definitely stay again! 10 min walk from the bars - everything in easy reach! Loved it, loved it and loved Paco and Benjamin too!! They work so hard! See you again soon i hope!! x x x

clean but dont expect many sleep at all
21 May 2007
We stayed at Norte Hostel in May 2007, i found the hotel clean, and the rooms were nice. The staff were always friendly, the only down side to this hostel was the noise by the people coming in after a night out. We were only coming in ourselfs about 2/3 in the morning and everynight we was kept up til 6:30 in the morn which after a couple of days does ur head in as ur so tired.

The best budget hotel
10 May 2007
We stayed here at the end of May 2006, we wasn't expecting much as its only a 2star hotel, but it was wicked!!
Not far from the nightlife, beach, bars and restaurants, lovely pool, friendly staff, the only downside was that the beds are uncomfortable, but if your drunk enough you wont notice!!
I would recommed this hotel 2 young groups of people, we had the best time and will definatly be staying at Norte again!!

Review of 'NORTE'
13 October 2006
The Norte was a little further away from the West End than we'd hoped - 10 minute brisk walk that's up & then down hill. The room was clean and tidy but quite small. The beds were uncomfortable and the water was tepid for half the week (it did get hot by the end of the week!) Lovely friendly staff who are happy to help in any way and found us quite amusing with our 'english' requests! The food was lovely - especially their 'home cooked' chips - nice change from 'french fries'. Reasonable prices for food/drinks. No cleaner/towel change all week - we had to ask for toilet rolls when required and use our own towels. The friendly staff and good food made up for the not so good room. The pool area was across the street, and was kept clean and tidy and a good size with plenty of sunbeds. If you're staying at Norte the quickest way to walk to the West End is out the front entrance, turn right to the end of the road, turn left, next right, then straight on to the Mad Cow and left again into the West End! The beach is closer by leaving the bar entrance and turning left, then 5 minutes walk straight ahead. Mambo's/Cafe Del Mar are about 15min walk from Norte.

'NORTE' but nice
01 October 2006
This is the second time we have stayed at Hostal Norte and if we stay in San Antonio again, we would all stay there. The location is spot-on, just away from the madness but not too far. I would imagine you would be hard pushed to find better value for money, the rooms are basic but well maintained and cleaned regularly. The beer is beautiful :-) and the food is ok too. The staff are really pleasant and friendly but the best thing about Norte is the banter around the pool. We met fantastic people just sitting around the pool and had such a laugh. Some of those people were staying in different hotels but having stayed in Norte previously, they enjoyed the atmosphere around the pool and came back. That speaks volumes for the place, recommended!

Review of 'NORTE'
18 September 2006
We were a little worried before we went as the hotel was onlya 2 star but we had nothing to worry about! The taxi driver knew where he was going and assured us that the hotel was a lovely place to stay. The room was small and unfortunately we didn't get a balcony but I think we were unlucky in that respect as the other rooms had balconies. It might have been a blessing in disguise as we slept really well with little or no noise most nights. We had heard that 3 guys had been asked to leave the hotel the week before we got there as they were blasting music after 5am, the hotel has a policy that there is no noise after misnight and we were actually really glad of that. The pool is just across the road, it was big with plenty of loungers and alos a seating area. The snack bar had lots to offer frombaguettes and toaties to cocktails. We made breakfast once during our stay and I was again pleasantly surprised - it consisted of tea or coffee, toasted baguettes and croissants so all well received after a late one.
All in all we had a great stay and I would defo go back and stay there!

A very clean and tidy hostel, friendly staff, good facilities, quite basic but adequate for the clubbers needs!! Enjoyed our stay, would reccommend to those looking for a clean, friendly place within easy reach of all the bar's and resturants, without being right in the thick of it, and good value for money! 12 September 2006
NORTE was a very basic hotel in ibiza, just like the other 90% of hotels. However the location was very good, just round the corner from coastline and about a five min walk to the west end. The rooms were very basic but clean, what was to be expected of a two star. The staff at NORTE were very nice and pleasant people and are happy for you to do whatever you want. We never went for breakfast so could not comment on the food but they offer snacks throughout the day which were quite nice. Overall i would reccomend NORTE for a short stay in ibiza but not for longer than a week.

Review of Hostal 'NORTE'!!
11 September 2006
Did not expect too much from this budget hotel, but was pleasantly surprised. Clean and basic. Had a room overlooking front of Norte which was quite loud, but who needs sleep in Ibiza!! The location was great and close to Sunset Strip. The staff were excellent. The pool doesn't look like much, but when you get over the road it's actually very decent. Well worth the money and would go again!!!!!!

Just returned from 3 nights at Hotel Norte. The room was very clean. It was small but big enough for the 2 of us. We had a balcony which overlooked the swimming pool. The Room was cleaned daily. Staff very friendly, served great food served. Drink prices at the Hotel Bar were very good. The pool was great! We didn't hear much noise at all apart from the scooters. We managed to fit in a few siestas as there was a nice afternoon breeze cooling the room. You can hire a fan from reception if necessary. Great value for money and would definitely stay there again.

The Norte is what the ratings say, a basic hotel. It is however very clean, the staff are pleasant and friendly and i would have no reservations about staying here again, for the price we paid I think it was very good value for money. It is a five minute walk from the west end so you are away from most of the noise, you can also walk to the sunset strip in about 10 minutes. The rooms are ok in size for 2 people, take your own bath towel though, the ones provided are very small !

Review of 'NORTE'
15 August 2006
It was the perfect hotel for the type of vacation I was on (Clubbing). The reception staff were very helpful and always willing to bring me water from the bar even when it was closed. The rooms are basic, very clean, as was the bathroom. The shower was good which is always important for me. When booking a room, request one with a balcony, ours didnt have one as it backed onto a movie theatre, this kept me awake in the evening, banging out the Superman Soundtrack and effects. The lack of air conditioning was overcome by a fan that was available from reception for 3Euro per day. I had requested a twin/ double roon, and got a twin room, however one bed was smaller than the other, and the pillow on my bed was lumpy. The pool was pleasent, as was the bar and cafe, with a good selection of cheap food and drinks. I wouldn't recommend the tropical cocktails tho. The brakfast(served 8:30 - 10:00am) which was included consisted of 2 pieces of toast and a pastry each, with tea and coffee. This wouldnt usually impress me however I made it home before 10am once, and toast was just about the only food type I would have been able to keep down anyway, so perfect! Located about 7-8 minutes walk from the main sea front square, and 13-14 minutes from the Cafe Mambo and Cafe Del Mar sea front area, the location was as good as I could have hoped of for a hotel of this price.

this place was ok had bar swimming pool etc. food quite cheap there. the fans they rent out to you are totally rubbish do not rent buy one down the rd for about 16 euros. we had three single beds in our room when we wanted a double so we just pushed the beds together but the slats on one bed were totally gone you only had to sit on the bed and you were on the floor. but it was ok nice view off the swimming pool. the distance was ok but you have to like walking as its a about 5 to 10 min walk to west end centre off. just under 25 euros to get to airport in a taxi. this was a good place to stay if just wanted a bed to stay in and a swimming pool during thhe day.

Got a taxi from the airport, driver new his way to the Norte with no explanation needeed.. good start! 22euros.. not bad 3 ways... staff speak excellent English, and have a sense of humour a well... they do have a night shift guy who is keen on keeping the noise down in the early hours, but he's ok as long as you ok with him... rooms are basic, but do a job, each one with a terrace or veranda ( is that spelt right???) Don't get excited about the breakfast, but its ok and fills a gap... if you've any appetite after a nights clubbing!!! pool is very clean, and worth hanging around... food is cheap, and the chips are fantastic!!! (honestly) about a 5 minute walk to the shops/bars and good luck finding the hotel on your way back..as all streets look the same!! but thats all part of the adventure... Had a great time, and everyone sooo friendly..

6th time in Ibiza and 5th time staying at Norte. Fantastic value for money, staff are both polite and always up for a laugh, see you in september Paco & Benjamin! would recomend this hotel or "Hostal" to anyone, there's always a mix of people there from mad for it party people to elderly couples/groups. swimming pool area is usually pretty lively with the bar just accross the road. It's in a great location in the sense that it's about a five minute walk into the west end which means if you want an early night you wont be kept up by the bar's and clubs music. only slight thing i would say against it is that there's a cinema right next door which can be very loud if your feeling pretty rough and having an early one.

Overall this is an excelent hotel at the right price. Its my third visit to the island and second time I've stayed here and I will be coming back.
The hotel is ideally located about a 10 min walk from the main bars in the west end through the maze of streets and in the other direction there is a nice beach and a short walk from cafe mambo and cafe del mar. You must go and see the sunset!
The rooms are as well equiped and clean as any I've stayed in around spain and greece and the towels are changed frequently. However the towels are a bit small, more like hand towels so you might want to bring your own for use after showers etc.
The bathrooms are clean with, sink, toilet, beday, tiny bath with shower over.
Other facilities include a pool table, a bar which also does great snacks and fast food (THE HOMEMANDE CHIPS ARE TO DIE FOR) and a good sized pool just over the road, although I dont think its heated.
The rooms facing the pool are quiet but some other rooms that face over the main road can be a little noisy due to traffic early eve (cinema next door) and in the morning, you just need to keep the doors closed or bring earplugs.
I would reccommend this hotel to anyone or group coming to the island the nighlife. Its ideally located, clean, well equiped, friendly. Its ideal for hen and stag parties but not exactly ideal for famillies with young children.
Have a nice time

We stayed at the Hotel (Or Hostel as they call it) Norte For our 1st wedding anniversary at the end of May 2006
For the price, we couldn't complain one bit - The hotel is clean, as is the pool across the road, and the breakfast is fine. There's food cooked all day at the bar, and there's also a pool table in the lounge.
The hotel is located near to both the West End and the Sunset strip.
As we are a young couple, we tended to get in late, so we wern't distracted by the mopeds etc.. as other people where.
The staff are friendly, and because there's no 'Holiday Companies' operating from here, there's enough people round the pool to meet friends, but no over crowding.
If you want a young, cheap & cheerful (And clean) hotel we'd definitely recommend a stay here.

On arriving at our accommodation we were greeted by a friendly, smiling lady, who spoke little English but enough to get by. The room was small but very clean and we did have a balcony which overlooked the pool. We were pleasantly surprised by the bathroom too. It was better than some of the 3* hotels we'd previously stayed in. We didn't hear much noise at all apart from the scooters. However, I think we were lucky, as in, everyone who was staying there (including the youngsters) were very respectful of each other, and kept noise to a minimum. After reading the reviews ourselves, we decided to go out for breakfast, so we can't comment on that. There is a reception with seating area and also a bar that does meals. The whole accommodation is very clean and overall, great value for money. If I was a traveller on a budget then I would definately recommend the Norte. San Antonio itself is picturesque. It has all your English/scottish bars but it also has the typical local bars too. I think I has something for everyone.

11 October 2005
Hotel was to be expected of a 2 star. We went later in season as had some free time and were cold at night due to lack of blankets. Also, if you are a hungry person do not expect a massive breakfast, just toast and a cuppa! The rest was fine, we could come and go as we pleased, noise was fine, and it was nicely situated outside of the west end but for us closer to the beach bars! To be honest just what we excpected of a 2 star!

It's my description :-) - rather small - very clean; every day cleaned, towels every day changed - cheap - basic equipment (or without ;-) we had two beds, two chairs in the room, two chairs on the balcony, cupboards and stands; spacious and clean bathroom with the bathtub - remember that it's 2 stars hotel ;-) - swimming pool is 2,8 m deepth - main part and 1,3 m deepth smaller part; the swimming pool is put up on the other side of the street; free deckchairs and umbrellas - the breakfast is poor but for me enough (two toasted rolls, jam, teacake, the coffee or the tea; served from 8:30 a.m. till 10 a.m.) - you can rent the safe (2,5 EUR per day) - there is coin-operated billard with the small space for the rest - we didn't use the restaurant but it looks quite well - nice service, very quick reaction to the lack of the electricity, friendly atmosphere - can be noisy if you have noisy neighbours, you can hear loud music from cars also ;-) - sometimes there wasn't warm water - there is very close to: bus stop (about 500 meters, 8 minutes) taxi (about 600 meters, 10 minutes) shops (about 100 meters, 1 minutes) bars (from 5 meters, 10 sec. ;-) so-so beach (about 250 meters, 3 minutes, on the left of exit) San Antonio beach with port (about 700 meters, 12 minutes)
Thanks for Alpharooms for great site and fast reservations without any problems. Highly recommended!

Review of 'NORTE' great value for money
27 September 2005
Hostel Norte in Ibiza, billed in brochures in the west end - but its better explained as being near playa cal de moro ( just up from kanya, mambos, and coastline,) Friendly and family run hostel. Cheap Prices, Fantastic Pool and sun terrace. Very accomodating. Rooms basic - but thats all you need, bedroom, balcony, bathroom with shower - all kept very clean and well maintained. No Air conditioning, but the doors/windows have wooden shutters you can use, which i found kept the rooms very cool indeed. In my opinion its a value for money and i shall definitely be staying there again next year when i go to ibiza ( ive been going to ibiza for 10 yrs now, and this is definitely value for money accommodation

We found this Hostal clean and friendly and we had great rooms with a balcony, I would not like to be in a room without one. The maid came in every day to clean and change the towels although they were only hand towels. All staff were great, the bar and restaurant clean and airy and the pool area was nice. Any noise did not bother us, we would definately recommend it and will probably use it again ourselves next year as it is good value for money.

Review of 'NORTE'
30 August 2005
Both my friend and I were very pleasantly surprised with Norte. On arriving the reception area is a good size (good size bar and seating area to eat too!) Our room was very nice (103) and we loved the balcony as you could watch the world go by even though our view was of lots of other people's balconies, it felt like we were actually "living" in this part of town! It has a very " local feel" and our balcony doors were very traditional (shutter type slat doors, not the sliding ones you get in most hotels).
It did get quite hot especially in our bathroom and all the fans were rented so this was a bit of a pain but it was fine when sleeping.
Hotel reception was very good, e.g. booking taxis, buying water etc. The bar was also very good - snacks were great (we loved their Chicken and salad toasties!) Menu was very good! The pool is just across the road. The hotel managers were great, met one who was english and another called Jo was very friendly and great if you want to ask about exploring etc.
Only problem we had was the noise of people coming up the stairs and slamming doors and traffic from the road - unless you are going out partying until 7am (which is what we did apart from the one night!) but having said this, it depends on the type of guests who are staying at the time and they do have a sign at reception clearly stating no noise should be made after midnight. Perhaps if we had a room facing the pool we wouldn't hear much noise from the road. The hotel is also a little further from the West end so you would expect it to be a lot quieter. Location was good as it was near a few restaurants (Banana's Puck serves a wicked Spagetti Bolognese) and some great shops as well as the beach! You can even pop into the local cinema which is right next door if you fancy it and there is a Bar opposite the hotel if you don't want to walk into the main West strip.
Overall a really friendly atmosphere and a good place to stay!

After what seemed like a long flight, it was nice to welcomed to Hostal Norte with a smile from a laid back English bloke. Check in was straight forward. I had room 204. Nice enough bit small though, but did have a balconey witch was a bonus. Its quite a noisy street being near the west end, but if you're young you just deal with it. I didn't realy spend alot of my time sleeping anyway. You will need a fan though, which you can rent for around 3 euros a day. Again nice place, cool staff. But if you do want a good nights sleep i dont recomend this place.

Short & Sweet!
23 July 2005
Arrived at nearly 2 o’clock on a Monday morning, weary after a niteflite. The nite porter was laid back and check in was easy and painless. The weather was humid and sticky - and I mean unpleasantly so, and the room was pretty small and there was no balcony, (only half the rooms at the Norte have balconies), and despite the fact that we had brought our own little desk fan from Next, it was unbearably hot and sleep did not come that nite. The next day I went to the electrical shop across the road and bought a floor-standing fan for E30. We didn't turn it off the whole five days we were there and it made a real difference. Well worth the investment. I even sold it to the hotel manager on our last day as we were leaving so it only cost me E10 for the 5 days and nites we used it and it was way better than the feeble little things the hotel rented out for E3 a day. The room was clean and had the basics well covered. The shower worked fine although it wasn't exactly a power shower, but it was adequate. Towels were, as someone else has said here, only hand towels but because it was so hot, that wasn't a problem. I just had a quick rub over with the towel and let nature do the rest. Bit less convenient for my better half because she needed two, one for head/hair and one to cover the naughty buts, but she managed ok. The staff were friendly although we did perceive the manager to be a little reluctant to help at first but this may have just been a false impression because he turned out to be very helpful. The two bar staff, one in particular was very friendly, cheerful, and helpful. Just what you want on your hols - happy and fun. Because we didn't get up until the afternoons, having been clubbing all nite, the cleaner never came in our room so we had to ask for sheets and towels and bog roll... No problem tho. Also had to empty our overflowing bin! The Chicken and chips at the bar were GREAT! Well recommended. The pool was fine - deep tho! Caught me out a few times, blub! Nice place to chill, away from it all. Stayed out there until nearly 7oclock some eves and the sun was still shining. The manager changed traveller’s cheques, with a little reluctance at first - but he is a man of business and once a 'deal' was established, he was fine to work with. Location-wise it was fine.

Nice clean hotel, basic but absolutely fantastic value and in a really good location - on the road leading to Coastline. 5 mins from West End, 5 mins from Coastline, 5 mins from Mambo. Would definitely stay there again - snack bar, large quiet pool, all the taxis know where it is - have stayed in many 18-30 hotels and had much worse experiences. Absolutely recommend it. Only negatives - no aircon or fan in room, and you only get 2 small hand towels so bring your own. If you want to save your money to spend in the clubs then you can't go wrong here!
