shaort break september 2008
09 October 2008
Stayed at the Normafa for 3 nights. We found the Hotel to be very friendly, and the room was very spacious.Only problem was it was a bit out of Town but there were buses every 10 mins just outside Hotel.Would recomend you by bus pass it gets you on all buses trams trains it cost about £13.00 for 7 days, you can go all over the Buda and Pest. The hotels breakfast was great you can have a hot breakfast free of charge nothing is any bother the staff were excellent .I would definately recomend this Hotel its so peaceful. Just a wee tip take Airport Shuttle Bus as it is cheaper than Taxis, also if you are Scottish or Irish the only place that will change money is Citi Banks no one else will.

a nice surprise - April 2008
24 April 2008
We stayed at the Normafa for 3 nights.
On arriving at the airport we were concerned at the taxi prices to get to the hotel as it was out of town on the buda side but the airport shuttle bus took us, charged a flat fee so we paid no more than the people staying in town.
On arrival the staff were friendly and spoke good english. The room was clean and peaceful. It was great to be away from the busy city life.
Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Hot items are available to order and you are not charged extra for this. The bus stop is about 200m from the hotel and the number 21 and 90 run every 10mins until 11pm to Moszkva Square, from where it is easy to catch a tram or metro.
On our last day we stayed at the hotel. They let us check out at 2pm instead of 12 for no extra cost. We used the outdoor heated swimming pool even though it was cloudy outside.
The sauna and steam room facilities were lovely and we had dinner at the Normafa Grill Hotel. It has themed decor and the food was delicious - would definately recommend the fresh baked breads. the portions were huge and the service very efficient.
The hotel arranged for the airport shuttle to pick us from reception on the day of departure. This is a lovely hotel and its good value for money. I would recommend it to anyone especially if you want to have a great day in town and then have a nice calm place to go back to.
PS the hotel massages are well worth the money.

Short break
15 February 2008
Excellent choice..... only a short bus ride from Moszkva Sq (ter) 21 and 90 bus on hill from the tram and metro lines will take you there. We too had lovely rooms, spotlessly clean, endless cupboard space and peaceful. Staff are friendly, helpful and well-informed, we travelled back to the airport by public transport and the staff recommeded the left luggage facility at Nugatyi station, 4 bags left for 8 hoursat only 600 HUFs in total less than £2, what a bargain! At breakfast you can have the continental buffet and there is a choice of cooked items as well. The setting of this hotel is beautiful even in winter with walks in the woods and the heated pool was open from 4pm till 8pm. We ate in the hotel on our first night, fabulous food, starters, mains and puddings for £25 a head including drinks and we went into Budapest on other nights returning back to hotel around 11.30pm, no problem at all.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good quality hotel, with peace and quiet, only a short bus ride away from all that you would need.

wonderful hotel in beautiful surroundings
13 February 2008
This hotel is one of the nicest we have ever stayed in. It is approx 20 mins bus journey from Moszkva Ter and is situated in beautiful countryside with lovely views over Budapest. We were dealt with efficiently at Reception by very friendly English speaking staff and nothing was too much trouble for them. They answered all our questions and were very well informed. We had booked a standard double room but think we must have been allocated a suite because it seemed to be much bigger than some of the rooms we saw as we were walking around the hotel. The bathroom was quite small but spotlessly clean, and the spacious bedroom more than made up for it. I have never seen so much cupboard space in a hotel room! There was a well stocked mini bar - reasonably priced and although a kettle is provided, there is a charge for tea and coffee which we thought was a little unnecessary - however, we just bought our own from the shop up the road. We were lucky enough to be staying for Gourmet evening where everything was half price so we had a beautiful meal in the hotel restaurant. The meal would have been reasonably priced even without the discount as we found it was the price of alcohol in the hotel that pushed the bill up. We asked if we could keep our room for a bit longer on our day of departure and were allowed to do this with no charge, even though our flight was not till 7.15pm. All in all I would recommend this hotel to anyone - indeed on returning to work this morning have already recommended it to a colleague who is visiting Budapest later in the year!

Great hotel for kids
01 September 2007
We were at the hotel for a week in August and really enjoyed it. We stayed by the pool in the heat of the day, then went into the city in the afternoon. There's a bus every 10 minutes which takes 15/20 minutes to get into the city, and a stop for the children's railway is less than 5 minutes walk. Our daughter (and we) really enjoyed the zoo and trips around Budapest. This is a great destination (hotel and city) for kids.

Normafa a great place to stay
03 June 2007
We stayed for a whole week end of May half term and after a lot of visits and stays in different parts of Budapest, I will definitely go back to this one. Lovely location, while the city was sweltering in the heatwave, we were cool in the hills near an ancient forest, beautiful views and an easy journey (20 min by a frequent bus service) into town. Hotel staff were really friendly, accommodation good and it was perfect for combining an active holiday with walks, swims and cycle rides (hired at the hotel) with visiting the city.

Good value for the money, up in the hills of Buda put with an excellent and cheap transport system its not a real problem. Additionally for its location you have a very nice outdoor swimming pool to chill out around and plenty of lawned grounds. Families with young children were well catered for as well within these grounds. Above average breakfast with the usual buffet fair but additionally included in the price a good choice of al a carte alternatives. As usaual friendly and helpfull staff, clean rooms etc. The room we had was just a little small for the norm, but newly refurbished and more than adequate
Only negative no airconditioning, I did find the room hot, but this may have been due to the exceptionally hot summer the whole of Western Europe seemed to be experiencing
Would recommend well above average in relation to its price

Review of 'NORMAFA'
30 July 2006
We've just returned from a 5 night stay at the Normafa and enjoyed every minute of it. The hotel is in an ideal situation, only 20 mins from the centre by bus, but in a very peaceful location surrounded by beautiful woodland. We found the Hotel to be very relaxing, clean, and the staff were very friendly. We thought it was excellent value and would definately recommend it. The only thing we thought could improve the hotel would be air conditioning. We found it a little hot in our room, but overall this did not detract from a very pleasant stay

This hotel is fantastic! It is very clean, nicely decorated, in a beautiful location and if you travel during the summer (which can get really hot) the pool is great. It is a bit out of the city but the public transport is very reliable and cheap and the hotel is a welcome relief from the hustle and bustle of the city. The staff are incredibly friendly, helpful and all speak good English. The hotel is probably best suited to families and couples. I couldn't believe what we had paid for this hotel, cannot recommend enough!

Incredible Value!
28 May 2006
I have recently returned from Budapest staying in the Normafa Hotel. I took my partner for a surprise 4 night break for his 30th birthday. Once i had decided where i wanted to go i surfed the internet for hours trying to find the best rate for the Normafa hotel and found it at Aplpha rooms.
The hotel was an absolute bargain for how much i paid - I was so pleased! The 4* alpine style hotel was situated in the hills overlooking Budapest. The bus cost just 25p to get into the centre and took only 15 minutes. The buses seem to run constatntly and we were able to use them to get home at the end of a late evening too! The bus stop was right outside the hotel too!
The Normafa was emeculate! There were cleaners and gardners constantly working. The staff were also incredibly cheery, polite and helpful. We stayed B+B and were very pleased with the variety on offer for breakfast. Hot and cold food choices as well as every type of tea and coffee under the sun were availble. If there was nothing you fancied they were always happy to whip you up somthing else!
Our room was cleaned daily and had all the amenieties you would expect from a good 4* hotel, including mini bar, satellite TV and the biggest balcony i've ever seen! - you could have a party on it!
The pool was very well maintained and not dead fly or manky plaster in sight! Plenty of sun loungers and a warm water temperature too!
The Normafa bar and grill attached to the hotel was excellent and we dined there 2 out of 4 nights. The food and service was excellent with a huge variety to choose from including local cuisines.
As frequent leisure and business travellers to 4* and 5* hotels around the globe we were both very impressed with the quality of this hotel and its location. We both agreed we would pay double the rate to stay here! What a bargain!

Review of 'NORMAFA'
23 May 2006
The hotel is in a residential area about 15 mins out of town but with a bus stop just outside. First impressions were OK but the room was small and fairly dark with limited view. There's a fitness centre downstairs and a very nice swimming pool, all very clean and efficiently run. Breakfast was very disappointing - loads of choice but anything supposed to be hot was either tepid or cold, mainly the coffee and scrambled egg. There is a very nice restaurant adjoining the hotel which we used rather than use the hotel one for dinner. Overall, it was comfortable enough, we got a good price on line and it was clean - but we did not spend much time in it.

what a great hotel for the price it is 20/25 minutes from the city centre and could best be described as a ski resort the weekend we visited in early march. dont be put off by the distance from the centre as there is a bus every 10 mins to the main metro and tram stops (a 3 day pass foe allcity transport costs about £8 ).The hotel has all the facilities you could need and the staff are really helpfull. My opinion is give it a try you wont be disappointed.
