WOULD STAY AGAIN

23 October 2007
I stayed at the Norfolk Towers with my Mum for a shopping trip. The hotel was only a 5 minute walk to Paddington tube station. The reception was very clean & welcoming & we were given a twin room which was big enough for the two of us with plenty of coathangers & cupboard space. Everything was clean, the beds comfy but as mentioned on previous reports the room was overly warm to the point of being uncomfortable. We slept with the window open, the fan (which was provided) running all night & the radiator switched off. We decided the problem was that the hot water pipes were running under the floor as the carpets were always extremely warm. Our room was very quiet, no traffic or lift noise at all. The bathroom was spotless with clean towels everyday & the water was always hot(too hot on one occasion) Breakfast was a standard continental style, bran flakes, rice krispies & cornflakes, toast, bread, cheese & fruit salad. I believe a full english is available as part of your room rate or could be purchased seperately. The lift was a joke, painfully slow, could fit in 4 people but checking out was a nightmare as we had to wait for the lift 4 times & in the end had to give up as each time it got to the fourth floor it was full so we had to use the stairs. The hotel was happy to look after our bags after check out until later that day. Overall, not bad for the price we paid, would go again out of the central heating season!!

Bit disappointing.

Review of Norfolk Towers. Stay: 26/May/07. Staff (all East European?) very friendly and spoke good English. Buffet breakfast (included) adequate but a bit limited for selection. Café in cellar had very reasonably- priced (for London) drinks. An attempt was made at Karaoke but the technical skills to operate the equipment were a bit lacking. Was also a bit smoky, but that will cure itself by July, 2007. Did not serve food on Saturday evening. Bedroom was a bit disappointing. Our ’ twin’ (room G2) had four beds, all single and all rather short for me. At 6ft/182cm, they only reached my ankles. The room was over-hot and reception could not alter that. There was a cooler fan, which made for an expensive and less-than-green way of keeping the temperature bearable (on a cool day/night). The fan had to be switched on during the night, adding to the noise level, which was, basically, pretty low. There was no view and the blinds were a bit damaged where various hopefuls had pulled them aside. A kettle and coffee/tea was supplied, but a hair-drier was not. There was also no remote for the TV and reception could not supply one. The bathroom was OK, apart from the fact there were no face flannels and some tiles were cracked near the washbasin. The automatic fan ran for about 15 minutes after switching the light on and was rather noisy when trying to get back to sleep. As a nicety, individual soaps, shampoos, etc are better than a sqeezey bottle fixed to the wall. Having asked reception for an alarm call at 0705, we were woken up at 0500. A little attention to detail, at little expense, could have raised our stay to pleasant rather than just OK. David and Mary

I booked this hotel as part of a Birthday suprise for my son and his girlfriend. The hotel was very central and only a few minutes walk to the nearest tube station.

Although the room was on the small side it was clean and the hotel staff were very helpful with directions to places of interest and local eateries.

This hotel has it's own bar and the prices were more than reasonable for a London hotel.

Good choice for people looking for a central location on a budget.

An adequate overnight place to stay. Single room was comfortable and clean, the furnishing a bit old-fashioned and worn at the edges - but the bathroom was modern and bright.  Just one cranky elevator for the whole hotel (five floors), so you might want to be able to use the stairs. As a place to sleep for the business traveller this gives reasonable value for London, and I would use it again, but I wouldn't want to spend much time there.

Good Hotel in nice quiet location, handy for the tube to 'everywhere'.
Good bar, breakfasts a little pricey.
Staff very pleasant, night porter particulary helpful.

My stay at Norfolk Towers has been a good experience with its posh location that makes you feel good about your stay in London. The connectivity of the hotel to the Stations gives it an easy approachability.
