The hotel was a bit cramped and old, but the friendly atmosphere compensated that. The staff was really helpful. I found the room quite small at the first glance, but after a while I got used to it. The bathroom was clean and functional with no complains. We slept well and I got my extra pillow. Things in the room were dated, but after a while I managed to get the fan working and I did no longer see the old-fashion curtains. Breakfast was ok, but not more. The location close to Paddington was excellent. And my son enjoyed the mints at the desk in the reception!

Review of 'NORFOLK PLAZA'

06 February 2006
I arrived at the hotel late at night and was made very welcome.

Check-in was smooth and uncomplicated.

There was a small elevator to access the upper floors... boy was I glad of that! The decor was rather dated, but certainly had character.

The rooms were small but I was pleased to get a twin room to myself. The bathroom had a good sized bath and overhead shower. Everywhere in the hotel was clean, and reasonably well maintained. Only problem in this respect was the trouser press did not seem to work. Had I beeen staying longer I would have chased that one up!

There was a very mixed and quite continental clientelle. Breakfast next morning was in a smallish but very friendly dining room where the staff were helpful and attentive. Breakfast itself was of a very good standard for the price and being buffet style there was no shortage. Coffee was the best I'd tasted in weeks!!!

I had to check out fairly early - so I never got to try out the friendly -looking bar area. Once again check-out was smooth and no problems or quibbles.

The only problem I found at all was that the key card for the room was fiddly to work - it took up to 2 minutes of perseverance to get it to work at times.

The location was really good - close to Paddington Underground station. Close to Edgeware road, Marble Arch, Hyde Park. And of course being to close to the undergrounds means you are close to anywhere in London. I would go back there anytime!
