Excellent value for money

18 June 2008
Good location in town. 5 min walk to beach. Rooms basic but more than adequate. We upgraded to a superior room which had plenty of space though the air con was not great leaving it a bit hot. We viewed some of the other beachfront hotels while there and most looked tired and shabby. You can pay the standard 15-18euro/day to spend the day in any of the other hotels' beach areas (which you have to pay for even if you're staying in the hotels themselves), or bring along your own towel and lie on the pebbles in the public areas for free. Would definately stay here again.

Very Pleasant Hotel

11 June 2008
I decided to book an executive room on the top floor (6th floor) as they all have their own terrace with a small table, two chairs and two loungers. This is a real bonus. Imagine having breakfast on your private terrace first thing in the morning. Great way to start the day. I had to work on my laptop for several hours one day and sitting on the terrace made it a lot more enjoyable. The internet service was a bit sketchy at times and the staff couldn't really help out so I had to wait for service to resume. From what I could see on the floor plan 'Room 614' appears to be the largest room on this floor - why not ask for it when you make your booking, you might be lucky and get the biggest room in the hotel! If you are in town on business this is conveniently located near the Palais de Congres and Acropolis (10 minute walk). It's also away from the tourist traps in the 'Old Town' but still only a 10 minute walk away if you really want to see it. It's also quite close to the Promenade des Anglais. The hotel area is also safe and quiet. The pool is very small and not really useful for exercise - it's more for kids to cool down after a busy day's sightseeing. All the staff are really helpful, very friendly and willingly speak English if required to do so, which let's face it is no small feat in France. The bar and breakfast room are adequate but not really places one would spend much time. For gay travellers the scene is not really concentrated in one area but this hotel is situated in a great location so that most of the venues are within 10 minutes walk. Take note that there is no restaurant in this hotel but you won't have a problem finding somewhere to eat in Nice to suit all budgets. This is a great hotel. Enjoy

Fawlty Towers

11 May 2008
The hotel is centrally located, the staff in the hotel were extremely helpful, and the guys on reception were fabulous. One reminded us so much of bail Fawlty with his mannerisms. a lovely breakfast but the restaurant can become overcrowded around 8am. The only downside was the hotel bar closing at 10:30pm, a night cap after a great meal at L'Maison de Marie in Rue Messena (highly recommended) would have been the ideal way to top off a great evening.

Value for Money

31 January 2008
Good value for money hotel, with very adequate facilities and excellent city centre location. Reception staff were paricularly helpful with advice and requests for assitance. Breakfast staff were less so. Rooms, we paid for an upgrade, were comfortable but a bit too hot and air conditioning was not effective. However I would be happy to return to this hotel on another visit to Nice.

Wonderful Riviera!

03 December 2007
This was my third stay in Nice but my first at the Nice Riviera, i would whole heartedly recommend this hotel to everyone. Close to shopping, more restaurants than you could imagine and excellent travel links. We stayed in a superior room which was clean and spacious with a king sized bed, the bathroom was also spacious with an excellent shower over the bath. It also has a lovely indoor heated pool, we had robes provided in our room! Breakfast was buffet style with all fresh ingredients and friendly staff. Tip for travelling around the area buy the "Pass un jour" from bus drivers or ticket machines at tram stops, they're only 4 euros and you can use them on all the buses and trams excellent to save your feet!

Excellent location & hotel

24 October 2007
A weekend away with friends The Hotel is in a great position, a short walk from the old town and less to the beach, located in a quite part of town with a couple of cafes located nearby but with plenty of good restaurants only 10 minutes away.. The hotel was very clean and our rooms ( 3 off) all good sizes with one having a huge bed, sofa which converts into another bed, very clean and en suite bathroom with bath and shower, fresh towels and toiletries every day, Cable TV, safe and minibar all in the room with tea/coffee facilities and to relax after a days outing a lovely warm swimming pool. Sauna & Jacuzzi. The hotel buffet breakfast is very good with a selection of hot & cold items generously available and buffet always topped up. Our room had a balcony with table chairs & lounger overlooking the street below even in October is was relaxing with the wine glass not far behind Would book this hotel again without any hesitation.

Review of 'Nice Riviera'

16 April 2007
Very Friendly and helpful staff, very comfortable and clean rooms, we asked to be moved from the back as the view is of the back yards of all the block. They moved us without any fuss.I expected it to be a bit nearer the sea as it was described as metres away, it's actually 4 blocks. The italian restaurant opposite is excellent and so is "trente 7" a mediteranian restaurant just doors away.If I had to be picky the free TV channels are all foreign except CNN and more seriously cigarette fumes entered the bathroom via the "extraction" system. Some niggles but overall a great 4 day stay.
If you go to Nice you must visit Monaco it's beautiful, the bus station is 10 minutes walk from this hotel and, get this, 1.30 euros gets you there in 45 minutes right outside the casino, that's £1 Happy Days

What can I say, SUPERB!! Very nice staff, room was very clean, fresh towels and toiletries every day, lovely warm swimming pool. Sauna & Jacuzzi great also. The best hotel breakfast I've had in a very long time (maybe ever) buffet always topped up, never ran out of anything even towards the end of breakfast.  Bed very comfortable, no traffic noise as we had a room at the back of the hotel - what a bonus for a city centre hotel. Would book this hotel again without any hesitation.  5 days and nights of total relaxation in a great location.

Once again an excellent stay at the Nice Riviera.

Reception friendly and helpful; rooms smart, modern and clean; the pool and surrounding areas inviting.

Only downside - there was no 'hot' buffet breakfast (even though it was listed in the meniu of prices).    We didn't mind as the selection for breakfast is good:  hard boilled eggs, ham, cheese, fruit, juice, croissants etc etc but some guests could be disappointed if expecting bacon and eggs!

All in all, centrally placed and very good value for money.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful with where to go and what to do, they all spoke good English too.

The hotel was very clean and our room was was good size, with huge bed, sofa which converts into another bed, very clean and en suite bathroom with bath and shower. Cable TV, safe and minibar all in the room.
The only thing missing was tea and coffee making facilities. We also hired bicycles from the hotel. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
