What our customers say
As a practicing architect who does high end residential work I loved my visit to New York City and my stay at the Palace Hotel.
The structure is a successful combination of re-use and modernization. It combines the magnificient Henry Villard House which was designed by McKim White and Mead in the Italian Renaisance style in 1881 with a modern high rise guest tower. The public spaces include astonishing work by the famed sculptor Saint-Gaudens and I languished on his bifurcated marble staircase
and marveled at his Zodiac Clock.
The works and craft involved are so exceptional that I wonder why it doesn't receive more hearalding.
The Palace is well located and I left a lot of shoe leather on the streets. I visited several museums, the MOMA is almost next door, took a cab to Ground Zero and saw a play and a musical from which I returned by pedicab! I went to the lower east side, SoHo, upper east side...I moved out! I could return to my room and restore myself easily and each time I did I was warmly greeted by the staff.
Several times a week I usually swim a mile and I did a mile in the nearby pool at the New York Health Club.
The meals, room service, helpful concierge, turn down service, friendly staff all reminded me of our stay at a luxury resort on the big island of Hawaii....they made me feel well treated and welcome.
From my room I looked down on the twin gothic spires of St. Patrick's cathedral, over the manicured roof top gardens and through the street slot to the tugboats on the Hudson River.
It was a very memorable view.
I didn't get to the exercise facility and I wish I had. There was no reason not to as it was open long hours and even offerred complimentary use of exercise clothing. I wished I seen that!!
This trip I traveled solo and will definitely return with my husband in the fall.
