My Place

09 November 2006
My Place Hotel is a Victorian Town House on a charming street in the Borough of South Kensington and Chelsea and is just a short walk from the popular Earl's Court road and Earl's Court tube station. I have never stayed in this hotel. It is the ideal getaway to the rest of London. Guestrooms are equipped with all the necessary amenities: T.V, safe, mini-bar and fridge, working shower, working lights, etc. I was very pleased.

Review of 'MY PLACE'

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at My Place. Everyone seemed very friendly and helpful, and we were extremely happy to discover we had a balcony with our room. However, the disappointment was that the balcony was covered in bird excrement. Therefore we could not go outside onto the balcony without our shoes, or sit outside. On the website for My Place it says on arrival that we would get complimentary tea or coffee, which we did not receive. In fairness the weather was very hot but we were not offered the choice. In the morning, for our included free breakfast we found there was not much choice of cereal; the milk was warm and the cereal became very soggy quickly. I asked for tea, but instead received coffee. These are very small complaints as overall I did enjoy my stay. We found it very reasonably priced for the centre of Earl's Court: it was right next to the high street (where the tube station is located) and within five minutes walk from the exhibition centre. The choice of television channels to watch when we returned to our hotel room made one feel quite at home. I would definitely recommended this hotel for anyone needing to stay in the area or for easy access into the centre of London.

A pleasant experience

Having only just returned from visiting the Chelsea Flower Show, and staying at My Place the night before the show, I can honestly say my wife and I were amazed at the value for money we received.

The hotel is ideally located, just a short walk from Earl’s Court tube station, in an area with a great selection of restaurants to suit all budgets.

Our 4th floor room was comfortable, clean and well decorated, as were all of the public area’s of the hotel we visited during our stay.

Members of staff at the hotel were all courteous and helpful and even arranged breakfast for us outside the hotels normal operating hours as we wished to leave early. Tea and coffee are readily available, whenever required, from the foyer.

I would have no hesitation to revisit My Place on any future visits to London and would recommend it wholeheartedly.

Review of 'MY PLACE'

I found My Place confortable and clean which it is a good thing, and the staff had been helpful in all they could.
Unfortunately I would have liked, for a *** hotel, a better service regarding meals and their availability during the 24 hours as, because of personal commitments, I couldn't have breakfast one day although I had paid for it, and I was surprised there was no chance for a packed one or a better range of room service food.
The room was also lacking of the tea coffee facility and the curtains were broken and hanging down; the carpet was damaged in front of the bathroom door and i tripped on it more than once.
For an hotel that rates itself a *** this is a very poor standard, something I had expected more for a **.
The staff was indeed helpful but even in the service there was lack of accuracy, ( no forks and tea spoons on my table for breakfast for instance, and I went fetching them by myself.

It wouldn'take much of an effort for My Place to reach a *** level, and be actually worth the price., too bad these small details have made my stay not as confortable as I expected.
