Excellent Hotel for the money, room was lovely and clean, also provided in the bathroom was shampoo, shower gel etc.. Kettle, Tea & Coffee in room which for me is a massive plus. The breakfast was lovely and plenty of choice. Totally no smoking policy in force, but didnt bother me to much. All in all I will be returning for future stay, as I attend meetings on a regular basis held in a large hotel on the same road no names mentioned that charge £130 per night and Murrayfield I paid £59 a night and got a better breakfast. Alpharooms was the cheapest out of all the sites I tried. See you next time cheers.

Business/pleasure break

Stayed here while on personal business and would recommend this hotel to anybody. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, good breakfast and convenient for City centre. If you are here for the rugby Murrayfield is literally across the road. Buses stop almost outside the hotel frequently and it costs £1 into the city. Buses also run 24 hours a day! It was also cheaper to book through alpharooms than book direct!

murrayfield hotel

It's a little more than 15 mins to the centre of the town, more like 40 mins. Although it is a straight run in. The room was excellent although a very limited choice of channels in the hotel. We really only watch Sky News for updated before we leave and after a full day out. Bar was very good with excellent bar staff.

Seven of us girlies had a great weekend for our friends 50th birthday. We stayed in the lodge part of the hotel which was just a couples of yards from the main hotel. Rooms were spacious and the room i stayed in had en excellent onsuite showerroom. the breakfast was a full scottish and very filling. Staff were very friendly and helpful. the pub on the premises was very handy and food was delicious. Ideal location about 20 mins walk into edinburgh which was very refreshing the morning after the night before. Would love to return to this hotel especially when rugby is on as the stadium is literally across the road. Brill weekend was had by one and all.

Review of 'Murrayfield Hotel and Lodge'

The Hotel at the moment is getting a bit of a revamp.
The room we were given had just been finished. There was a lovely bed so big i could stretch right out and still not touch the hubby. There was a flat screen TV in the room my only complaint with this was that you could only watch the usual channels (would have been nice to get the free view channels). All the rooms have hair dryers and an iron with a little ironing board. The bathroom contained shampoo, Shower gel, handwash and even body lotion.
The staff were friendly and always willing to help. Breakfast was freshly cooked and was lovely.
Our room was right over the bar but it did'nt cause us any problems which was a surprise as we stayed over the St Patrick Day weekend.
We will be sure to stay here again.

My boyfriend, our friend & i thoroughly enjoyed our stay.  It was very 'homey' & warm.  The staff were friendly & dynamic, and the food was terrific.  The hotel has a very 'old' feeling to it - which we loved.  The bar is open to the public, which made it extremely sociable & alive.

We would definitely recommend this hotel!

Review of 'Murrayfield Hotel and Lodge' ideal location in edinburgh

16 January 2007
the murrayfield hotel and lodge was an ideal location for a stay in edinburgh. We would not hesitate to book again. The room was recently refurbished and very comfortable and warm. Superb flat screen tv, excellent bathroom with good quality shower and clean hygienic soap and shampoo dispensers. All the staff in the hotel, bar and restaurant were very welcoming. The food in the bar was much higher standard than 'bar food', and my husband had the full scottish breakfast freshly cooked, and said it was excellent. The Murrayfield ground is literally across the road, the town centre a short bus ride..excellent location for a weekend or longer stay. Free parking is a plus, as this is not always available in the centre.

First impressions were favourable. It is definitely in need of some TLC. We stayed in room 17 which was in need of a deep clean(put our case on top of the wardrobe and the dust and fluff that came down was awful)We didn't realise the bar was just below, so had to wait till after midnight for the thumping music to stop. We asked for another room and they gave us one, no problem at all. We got room 4 which is part of the refurbishment going on, and it was beautiful. I would definitely stay again, but ask for the updated rooms. Great for shopping, bus stop almost outside, and they run every 5 mins.

The hotel was very relaxing and the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful.  The location was perfect as it was within walking distance of the City centre and easy commuting by bus nearby.

The food was extremely good and the atmosphere was very friendly.

My only critism would be that the hotel could do with a make-over. The room, whilst clean, looked shabby and it let itself down in that respect.

My friend and I would definitely consider staying again and would recommend it to other friends too.

Thank you for a great girlie weekend!

Although undergoing decorative work the hotel was still run to a high standard and the staff did all they could to make my stay as enjoyable as a business trip could be.  Location was ideal and the hotel proved great value for money.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Murrayfield hotel. It is in a great location, only 20 mins walk to Princes street or a 4 minute bus ride! The hotel is currently being updated, and myself and my partner stayed in one of the "new" rooms. Unfortunately there was building work going on, but this would only be noticed during working hours so if your out all day then you wont notice. Breakfast is pleasant with a nice variety, and the Bar is popular and regularly gets busy. I enjoyed my stay and wouldnt hesitate to visit again.

THE HOTEL & STAFF WERE FRIENDLY & HELPFUL. AFTER A FILLING BREAKFAST WE ENJOYED WALKING INTO THE TOWN CENTRE, WHICH ONLY TOOK 20 MINS. EDINBURGH IS A BEAUTIFUL CITY, ALPHAROOMS MADE IT EASIER BECAUSE THE PRICE IS PER ROOM AND VALUE FOR MONEY WHEREAS OTHER SITES ARE PER PERSON AND FAR MORE EXPENSIVE. I SHALL BE USING ALPHAROOMS A LOT IN THE FUTURE, AND I'VE RECOMMENDED THEM TO ALL MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
