As you can guess by my title we've been before....4th time to the village, 3rd time to this hotel. Hotel decor is great-bright & summery. Pool area is good with ample sun loungers to go around. Rooms are cleaned every day and air-con is fine once you've got it figured. As to the staff-they are always happy to chat and smile if you just give them the time to do it. Supposed to be going futher afield next year but if we can even squeeze in a 5 day break we'll be back again. I would strongly recommend bed & breakfast though as there are a lot of good places to eat out all within walking distance, especially if you like fresh fish (oh and a superb Indian place 3 minutes away).

Hotel review July 08

21 July 2008
Firstly all of the photographs you have on this website for the hotel bar and restaurant are seriously out of date the decor is far different and far better than you are showing here! Last minute booking got back today 20th July 08, hotel was lovely, rooms definately 4/5 star the food is all Portuguese but we loved it although it did get a bit repetitive after four days, the resort is definately the best out of all the surrounding ones and this hotel was envied by people staying on alternative accommodation! Really clean the maids come in every day, hotel staff meet all requirements but not with a smile unfortunately it took us 24 hours to spoke cursing what appeared to be rudeness and to realise ALL of the Portuguese locals are the same they provide the service but look at you like you are an alien?! My only criticism is that paying 4.5 euros for a beer in the bar and 5.5 for bacardi breezers got a bit wearing! 3 euro for water by the pool or shop ten steps outside 50 cents?...they need to sort their prices out to a more realistic level to stop what we and fellow guests did and that was to smuggle outside food and drink in! Something we really begrudged doing, not a cheap holiday as far as spending money goes but the hotel on a last minute basis is so reasonable, holday overall was really enjoyable the Carveiro resort looks awful on all websites we searched but was such a nice surprise on arrival it is a cross between Cornwall and Cardiff bay with an old fashioned feel but with plenty of different restaurants and live on the beach entertainment with surrounding bars. Hotel entertainment was only on a Monday night, bit poor, but the singing guitar player was amazing his Pink Floyd was spot on! No tacky stag or hen partys anywhere very family orientated or for us a very relaxing atmosphere. Would strongly recommend to all ages except anyone wanting nightclubs and all night partying! Great Hotel, really was nice

23 June 2008
Stayed here 17th June to 22nd June. Last minute booking. Booked room day before leaving and got excellent room. Alpharooms done really well. Had room 329. Third floor, massive balcony, lovely room. Aircon amazing, room really nicely done. Bathroom lovely. Overall excellent room. Pool really nice. Breakfast good choice. Colours are different, more like a trendy place trying to be. Makes a change from boring white that every hotel is and everyone knows. Definitely would go back. Great location. Short walk down hill to all restaurants and bars and beach. Overall great.

Just as everyone says and that decor is just something else. Imagine if the rooms were that colour! Agree its not four star but its damn good quality 3 star and the location is excellent for the town and the hill - the taxi rank is right at the bottom 2 euros - no heart attack

We stayed for 4 nights and agree that it was very good value for money. We stayed on a B&B basis as there is so many good resturants in the area. There was a good choice for breakfast but it was hard to get a decent cup of coffee. It would be an advantage if they allowed you to have tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms. We would go back again hopefully soon.

well worth it!!!!

20 June 2007
we stayed at this hotel from the 3rd of june 2007 for 6 nights, do not have a room above the restaurant it can be noisey..however we were allocated a room in thec block away from reception without any problem at all, the team there are great we had superb assistance,,even help with translation over the phone to assist our visit into seville for a day!!!,the breakfast is the usual but well presented and good quality.the poolm area is very clean as is the whole hotel, yes it maybe on the bright side in decor but that reflects the portgugese style and after all its summer!!!! so lighten up!! the room we had was well appointed although the tv could have more english selection.by the way ask how to work the air con before going to room ,it only works with your balcony doors shut tight.overall this hotel is in a good location for all types of restaurants ..ps try the indian just down hill on left its rogan josh is brill!!! we would recommend and stay again .well done to the team at the hotel ....from keith and julie

This was our 2nd visit to the hotel in two years and have been very impressed both times. We arrived at 10.30 and were intially told that we couldn't access our rooms until 14.00 but after we explained we needed to change to play golf our rooms were made available almost immediately. The rooms themselves are very clean and towels were changed on demand by placing in the bath (contrary to other reviews). Hotel staff are all friendly and welcoming and the hotel itself very quiet, easy going and relaxed. One dissapointment was the breakfast where the automated coffee machine and fruit juice machine were not to the standard you would expect in a 4* hotel.

The hotel is ideally situated for the main town. Only 5 minutes away. Decor is a little dated and a little on the bright side. Staff were very friendly. For a 4 star hotel they missed out the smaller things. Couldn't order a glass of wine from the bar and bar in hotel was not open until 6.00pm. €20 deposit is a bit steep for a poolside towel and when I handed €50 into reception and they had no change they refused to give me a towel. This is not 4 star treatment. Hotel seemed a little understaffed. Breakfast was the usual fare that you come to expect in these type of hotels. I cannot comment on lunch or dinner as I only stayed there on a B & B basis Not too happy that I had to go through 3 safety type doors to access my room. Also hotel had no internet access. However the hotel manager,Manuel, was extremely helpful and allowed me to access the hotel internet behind the reception desk on a number of occasions. For this reason alone I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Yet again Alpha Rooms came up trumps , excellent welcome at the Hotel reception even though we arrived early to check in (reception advised to state the time of arrival on the booking) the staff at the reception advised about the things to do in the Hotel and times of the meals. (very helpful) The Hotel is at the top of a hill which is o.k if you are fit because the going down was great but the going up was quiet a walk and anyone with a disability would find this quiet difficult. The whole of the Hotel was of a very high standard, very clean and lots of areas to relax in. The pool was big and a lot of the sunbeds had been replaced by new ones. The town centre is only a 5 minute walk down the hill and caters for any age group from the young to the old. Most of the bars when we stayed, opened till 2pm and 1 or 2 of them stayed open till 4pm, we saw no trouble and everyone was very friendly and welcomed you. I would recommend this hotel to anyone apart from the less mobile. A very pleasant holiday.

The hotel is very nice, although we did think it was quite understaffed! Very bright decor, large outdoor pool, smaller indoor pool (this was freezing though!), sauna and jacuzzi. Unfortunately, there was no snack bar or anywhere you could have a small bite to eat so you had to go out at lunch time to the local restaurants. They were also quite fussy about not bringing food and drink into the hotel from the supermarkets - luckily, this rule was flouted by practically everyone in the hotel!! Also, there were no tea and coffee facilities in the rooms which would have been nice. Our linen and towels were not changed in the 5 days we were there but the room was cleaned everyday. Room was large with a television (SKY News is the only English channel), safety deposit box, telephone and optional mini bar. Very nice and comfortable hotel and would go back.

We have just returned from a weeks break at the Mirachoro Praia. The hotel was excellent and very clean. The decor was very bright bordering on 'illuninois'. We found the staff to be extremely nice and friendly. The hotel is in a great position with an abundance of resturants nearby so glad we choose the bed & breakfast option. Will definately book there again!

What can I say about this hotel other than superb.

The hotel is situated in a great location, with a few shops and plenty of bars & restaurants that are all nearby.

The hotel staff were all friendly and helpful with nothing being too much trouble for them if help was needed/required. We stayed in the hotel on a b&b basis as there are so many different restaurants to choose from for your evening meal.  Breakfast was more than adequate in the form of a runninhg buffet of fresh fruit and cereals, continental style breakfast as well as traditional English fayre of Bacon, Eggs, Beans, Sauasages (Frankfurters) etc.

We have stayed in this particular hotel on at least two previous occaisions and found this visit to be as enjoyable as the previous ones.  The hotel facilities are very good with an outdoor pool area with a bar and bar stools in the pool itself.  There is also an indoor pool, Hot Tub, Sauna & basic Gym equipment for the more health concious amongst us.

We could not find fault with this hotel at all and would definitely reccomend it to other friends and family looking to stay in the Carvoiero area of the Algarve.

We spent 9 nights in the Mirachoro Praia Hotel, at the end of August '06.  We had a lovely holiday and will definately return.  The hotel was lovely, and our only problem was that sometimes, it was noisy as we were on the 1st floor.  I would book a 3rd floor room in future.  The room itself was very comfortable, and the maid service was excellent.  Towels changed everyday.  Airconditioning was a welcome feature, as it was extremely hot (40+ degrees most days) and there was also a small fridge.  The pool area was nice, although it was hard to get a sunbed after 10.30 am.  People placed their towels on the beds and then went off for the day.  The pool is nice and big, and there is a pool side bar which serves snacks.  The reception staff and night porter were very pleasant and helpful.  The hotel is perfectly situated in Carvoeiro, as it's just a short stroll from the beach & bars/restaurants.  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and hope to return again to the Mirachoro Praia Hotel.

One thing let the place down, The food was awful. There was very little choice, it was all of the cheapest quality and the table cloths were filthy and only changed once in the 10 days we stayed.

This was a gem in the making apart from a couple of things that left you wondering if you would recommend it to your best friend. When we arrived we had a good welcome, our rooms were excellent beautifully decorated and clean. We travelled on a half board basis and went down to dinner the first evening to find good quality food, a good salad selection and a choice of four main meals all buffet style. The restauraunt was very busy and there did not seem to be many staff.Sometimes there was no table to sit at and used plates were piled high. At times there were no utensils, glasses or plates. In the morning we stayed by the pool which was of good size spacious and clean. This is when we began to notice small details. There was only one staff at the pool bar who had to constantly run back and forth to the hotel, very serious guy but then I would have been if I had to work in those conditions, Hotel was not as clean in outside toilets as it should have been. So good food, friendly staff, good rooms but a few things that let it down. I would use it again but not in high season as I don't think they had enough staff to cope with large numbers. Position of the hotel excellent, 10-15 min walk to beach. Excellent italian restauraunt opposite and try A Readies restauraunt outside of hotel and up to the left excellent steak and very good service.

13 July 2006
The hotel was absolutly perfect, situated just outside the resorts busy centre, but literally take a stroll out of the front door, past the beautiful swimming pool and within 50 yards you were into an area with extremely good quality restaurants and bars.
The hotel is immaculately kept, very clean as is the room cleaning service on a daily basis that was to a high standard.
We only stayed on a bed and breakfast deal, but the breakfast was excellent, providing a good selection of continental and English (albeit as usual German frankfurters) but even the coffee machine is good with a little initiative and adaptation a decent cup of coffee could be had.
All in all the hotel is ideally situated, just above the resort but only a short distance for most amenities, and I thoroughly recommend this hotel to anybody considering a stay in this lovely resort.
My wife and I are very well travelled people and this hotel and resort is for people who like old Portugal and appreciate the simple but important touches that make this hotel and area good value for a short break.

A very comfortable, clean, friendly hotel, the staff seemed to take an interest in there quests which my daughter (15) and I thought was lovely, we felt very safe in the resort which was fantastic.
The sunbeds round the pool area could do with a revamp for comfort.
The only thing that we did not care for was the same breakfast for the 12 days we were there and the coffee we were warned about was dier, this is totally correct.
I highly recommend the Mirachoro Praia

Stayed at this hotel for 10 days from 18/6/06 with my friend (female and 50ish)and found it to be a great base from which to explore the Algarve.Had a very pleasant room, good size, very clean and the small refrigerator was perfect for chilling the wine! Fresh towels each day and shower gel and shampoo provided, don't rely on the hair dryer if you want a quick fix though. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice - fruit, fresh and tinned, yoghurts, cereal, cold meats, croissants, bacon, eggs and more! Don't be in a rush to toast your bread though. Didn't use the bar or have any evening meals so can't comment on those. The pool and surrounding area are really nice, we used the jacuzzi and there's an indoor pool too plus rowing and running machine if you're that way inclined!! Hope they don't carry the weird and wonderful colour schemes of the reception and bar/lounge area into the bedrooms. Our only complaints would be about the lateness of the maid service - the latest was 7.15pm and several times around 5pm - not good if you're wanting a rest after a hard day at the beach. Would also have been nice if the staff made more effort to speak or smile - just a good morning is all we wanted. Alex the night porter was the only member of staff to engage in conversation. All in all this hotel was excellent value for the price we paid, very clean, quiet and relaxing but would have been bored with Carvoeiro without a car. There are several fabulous beaches within a short driving distance.Would definitely stay there again.

'MIRACHORO PRAIA' is a nice shiny new hotel.  Rooms are very clean and in good condition. Reception and pool area is smart, new and spacious. Pool is nice and quiet and very relaxing. Breakfast was fine, but not brilliant.  Staff could be a little friendlier and this adds to the hotel overrall lacking a bit of personality.  All in all though, no complaints for the price we paid.

I have been aware of the hotel for a few years, but due to family situations have never stayed in the hotel until earlier this year.
When as my daughter and her family were in the process of buying a property locally. I have 3 grandaughters who were going to be a 'Little Bored' to say the least as parents looked to completely furnish the property, so I was asked to join them for a part of the time.
When we arrived in February, the weather was very dull, but we were all extended a warm welcome by the staff and were provided with rooms near to each other, this was very convienent.
The rooms were clean and very comfortable. We were provided with clean towels daily and a good supply of soap and shampoo.
The baths were a little small but the water was always hot and was kept in plentiful supply. very much appreciated by all the family for a quiet relax before we went to have a quiet drink inthe bar before our evening dinner.
Coffee and other hot drinks were availably in the bar but I felt that tea and coffee making facilities would have been appreciated in our rooms, particularly on 'Baby sitting nights' or if someone just felt like a relax.
Dinner in Feb was a choice of 2 main meals and self service o.k. for those with a larger appitite, however not much thought as to ask if any special diets i.e. vegetarian were required.

I was happy to return to the hotel with my husband in April when the Reception area was undergoing an overnight transformation, the decorators were in during the night and we came down to a blue wall, red wall new cushions and white voils which added a whole new warmth and brightness to the area and really made for a very WELCOMING Reception area, Lovely.

Break fast well what can I say other than there was so much choice and variety!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And so much of it, Fruit, cereals, juices, meats, cheeses, biscuits, bread and all the hot English you could wish for. The only draw back if being honest was that the coffee was not very good, tried all 4 varietys', stayed with the tea or drinking chocolate.

The staff in every part of the hotel were extremely courtious and went out of their way to provide a service that was second to none.

We will stay again and would recommend the hotel for families, (great indoor and outdoor pools). The local beaches within walking distance.
Golfers, great place to relax and plenty of courses locally.

This hotel was just brilliant - such good value. The room we had was spacious and very clean, with a lovely balcony. The bed was comfortable, the room had great curtains to block the light from coming into the room in the mornings, and there was no noise of a nighttime either - it is, without doubt, the best weeks sleep I have ever had on a holiday.

The breakfast was adequate, nothing amazing, but there was plenty to keep you going. We took the B&B option, so I cannot comment on the evening meals, but there are restaurants and cafes within 100 yards of this hotel, so you will not need to go far to find something. Carvoeiro has many restaurants, giving different options, seafood is fresh and plentiful, but you can also have italian, thai, chinese, indian, plus there are lots of restaurants serving grilled steaks, chicken, lamb, with chips etc. plus various pizzerias and also cafes for snacks and coffees.

We found the hotel staff to be really friendly and before we went out to eat each evening we made use of the hotel bar to play pool and sample some of their cocktails.

There is a supermarket, about 150 yards down the hill from the hotel where you can purchase general things like water, biscuits, sweets etc., and if you are lucky, like we were, sun tan lotion - the sun was shinning the entire week and we have come back with tans.

Parking is easy with a large car park directly outside the hotel. If you like walking - as we do - there are beautiful walks along the clifftops and the scenery is quite dramatic.

Will we be returning - YES, MOST DEFINITELY!!

Rooms - Good sized and comfortable with pleasant outlook over the pool area.
Breakfast - Juice from the machine was terrible how can a country which produces oranges not serve fresh juice for breakfast, otherwise pretty good.
The overall condition and location of the hotel was very good and is well worth a visit, although I imagine it would be rather busy in the high season..

We are a mature couple aged 66/67 years and found the Mirachoro Praia suited our holiday style immensely. Plenty of easy car parking, extremely clean and SUPERBLY QUIET, except for the very occasional late night couple in the corridors (always british of course!). The rooms were serviced daily with fresh towels and any small requirements, such as a bulb replacement, were dealt with speedily. Breakfasts were adequate, without being splendid, and investment in an additional coffee machine and replacement toaster would improve things considerably - but Hey if this is the sum total of complaint - then no complaints!!
Carvoiro is still delightful and literally 50 yards from the hotel front entrance. Would we go to the Mirachoro Praia again? Absolutely YES.

25 September 2005
This was our 2nd stay at the Mirachoro Praia and our experiences were much the same as they were in 2002. The hotel is modern, clean, spacious and very comfortable. We've read reviews which say it is too quiet and lacks atmosphere. That is certainly the case if what you are looking for is a packed pool area and nightly karaoke sessions. However if what you are after is a quiet, relaxing holiday in smart, comfortable surroundings then the Mirachoro is hard to beat.
On the downside, we found some of the staff were a bit unfriendly and unhelpful. They seem to be under a lot of pressure and stretched thin on the ground and don't mind letting you know it.
Carvoeiro itself is a smashing little town with a good selection of shops, bars, supermarkets and restaurants. All in all we enjoyed our holiday very much and will certainly think seriously about going back to Carvoeiro and the Mirachoro in the future.

Carvoeiro is a fantastic resort with many excellent resturants.  The Mirachoro Praia is a superb base for exploring the town and the area generally. It is a reasonably short walk downhill to the town square and beach.  Many other excellent beaches are only a short drive away.
The hotel is beautifully clean and well maintained.  The pool area is very quiet and sun beds are available throughout the day. It is easy to dose on your sunbed following a late night!  The staff are very friendly and helpful.
The rooms are comfortable and well furnished, and include a small fridge. Balcony areas are quite private. Bathrooms are very clean and bright.  The hairdryer in the bathroom is very slow. More hangers would have been useful.
We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis because the food available in town is so excellent and reasonably priced.  The breakfast buffets were slightly disappointing but adequate.  We have used the Mirachoro Praia twice now and would certainly return again.

We have just returned from a fabulous holiday in the Mirachoro Praia Hotel.  We availed of the B&B option and a junior suite which was very spacious (2 rooms)!  Breakfast was great lots of rolls, pastries, bread, hot food, cold buffet and fruit.  Outdoor pool was beautiful with a swim up bar which my 10 year old thought was "class".  The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly especially Alex the porter and everyone spoke english.  The hotel itself was extremely clean and rooms had freshly laundered towels every day, what more could you ask for.  Carvoiero town itself has a lovely atmosphere but the beach tends to be on the small side.  There was nightly entertainment in the square which everyone young and old enjoyed.  If you are looking for a relaxing holiday (not night clubs) and you just want to chill check out the Mirachoro Hotel.  We will certainly return next year.

Stayed for three nights with my 15yr old son as a post exam treat! Hotel was well equipped, very clean and blissfully quiet.  The pool area is very pleasant and we had to sample the "swim up to" pool bar!
Breakfast was slightly disappointing - little fresh fruit, hard eggs and suspect pastries but the rolls were good and fresh! Didn't try the evening meal as options outside the hotel are too good.
Idealy situated for the bars and restaurants of Carveoiro but some way from a decent beach.
If chilling out by the pool and the comfort of an air conditioned room is what you need this is superb.

This hotel was recommended to me by family when I booked my flight to Portugal. I looked at other hotels on Alpha Room web site but decided to go with the recommendation and I am pleased I did. There was nothing I could fault with this hotel. The pool, dining room (I stayed B&B) and lobby area were all nice. The staff were also friendly. The room was spacious and clean (fresh towels every day, large balcony overlooking the pool). I paid an extra £20 per person to book the 'junior suite room' not expecting more then a little alcove and sofa. We actually got an additional room the same size as the main bedroom with a second balcony so it was worth paying extra. The person who recommended the hotel to us stayed all inclusive at New year and the said that the evening meals were OK but the entertainment was too quiet. I would recomend this hotel though on B&B basis as the facilties are excellent but for evening meals there are lots of lovely restaurants in the resort.

Cannot fault the hotel. Modern decor, good sized rooms with decent breakfast buffet and great swimming pool.
