As first-timers in New York, myself and a friend didn't have a clue which hotel to pick. This one was very reasonable and the ratings were good so we went with it, and we weren't disappointed. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We had a problem with the shower one day, mentioned it at the front desk on our way out and it was fixed when we got back just a couple of hours later. The room was a good size, plenty of space and the views from the 37th floor were amazing - you could see all of South Manhattan and all the way down the East River, plus great views of the Empire State Building and the Chrysler building. It was very quiet and although slightly off the beaten track, we walked to Central Park in about 25 mins and about the same to the Empire State Building. Would definitely recommend it.

Excellent Hotel

This hotel was a great pick, we got a lovely friendly reception from all the staff when we arrived, our rooms were on the 36th floor and we had excellent views. The concierge was so helpful and friendly. The hotel is located a short walk from grand central station, where you can then get anywhere easily, although if you enjoy walking you could almost walk to anywhere in the central/upper Manhattan area from the hotel anyway. We'd definitely stay here again.

Review of 'Millenium UN Plaza'

We booked a triple room. On arrival we were given a double room - and they were to add a single bed - but there was literally no room for it. [Apparently they don't have triple rooms... but they don't tell you that!] We complained and were moved to a lovely big one bed suite with a sofa bed in sitting room. The sofa bed didn't work. we asked for it to be replaced - not possible. they provided a single trolley bed which was a disaster. After a bad night sleep for the person in single bed - we complained. They dealt with us well, because we weren't going to go away ... and we were then moved into a fab 2 bed suite with amazing views of Manhatten. We had loads of space and it was cleaner than expected. There was no noise [apart from horrendous Air Con in second room]. The staff were courteous ... hotel was distinctly lacking in atmosphere ... and quite dated ... but we were happy with our experience there ... once we got the sleeping arrangements sorted. We loved the location ... very nice, quiet neighbourhood.

The Millenium was very convenient and comfortable. The room was spotless, as was the bathroom. The view was spectacular!! The concierge was helpful and informative. I would stay there again and highly recommend this hotel.

Review of 'MILLENNIUM UN PLAZA'

I decided to book this hotel after spending hours reading reviews of this and other similarly priced hotels in NYC on various websites. I also spent a long time trying to get the best possible deal by searching a variety of hotel price comparison websites. In the end I chose the Millennium UN Plaza because of other people’s reviews posted on various websites and I have no regrets at all. In the end I paid £109 a night with Alpharooms.com – I found this deal after searching for the best price on TravelSuperMarket.com. Not only was Alpharooms the best deal for a room at the hotel, but their price also included ALL taxes and charges. Many other websites like LastMinute.com charge your card for the room but also require you to settle up at the end of your stay for other charges like NY hotel room tax and other charges. With Alpharooms the price I paid on the website was the total price for my stay in the hotel ,which I was very pleased about.

The hotel itself is located on floors 27-40 of a tall glass/steel skyscraper that is opposite the UN building. The front entrance is located on 44th st. and although there are other hotels that, for similar money, can put you closer to the ‘action’ in Manhattan, I was glad to be staying away from much of the tourist hustle and bustle that goes on in other parts of the city.

The room we got was a splendid corner room which was far larger than I was expecting, and had incredible views of Manhattan to the south and east – we were able to enjoy unhindered views of the Chrysler and Empire State buildings when lying in bed. The room itself well appointed and contained modern fixtures and fittings that were all in good condition. It wasn’t spotless, but for the money I paid I had no complaints. The ventilation was fine and there was even a fully opening window! The staff I dealt with were all very polite and seemed happy working at the hotel. One error they did make was not to provide any bath towels with our room. However, all it took was a quick word with reception on our way out in the evening and on our return a complete fresh set of towels had been placed on our bed.

Unlike other hotels I’ve stayed in, there was minimal noise from other guests and it wasn’t full of small children or large groups of people on tours/holidays/conference events etc. which also made our stay pleasant.

Overall I had a very enjoyable stay at the Millennium UN Plaza, and I would not hesitate to go back

New York, New York what a wonderful town. Jason from Birmingham must have been in a different city to the one my husband, son & myself stayed in. He is right about the hotel though. Magnificent views were to be had from our room on the 40th floor. Room was clean & huge & the staff were helpful & friendly. Out of all the hubbub but close enough to walk to a majority of the tourist attractions. Highly recommended!!

New York... now how can I describe it? Its like a really rubbish version of London, but with skyscrapers... and yes the people are as rude... and doubly annoying also american... However the one thing that made my 4 day stay in New York remotely bearable was the marvellous Millenium UN Plaza hotel. Apparently all rooms have fantastic views and indeed they will make you gasp out loud! I am not easily impressed, but the views from this hotel make it a worthwhile stay.... If you did want to leave the hotel, perhaps to get food or something, it is only a short walk to Grand Central Station, 5th Avenue, Broadway etc.... This hotel is superb, ideally located and frankly the only thing worth looking at from the top of the Empire State building.
