Outstanding good value hotel. Clean, welcoming and very very central. Breakfast in the garden delicious, proper coffee and great choice of food. The owner really goes the extra mile. 2 minutes from everything. Lovely city, lovely hotel. Great time had by all.

This was a quiet, well located hotel close to the main Catalunya square, city tour and airport buses. The room was traditional, simple and it had a clean bathroom. We chose the hotel since it had Spanish character rather than just a faceless, upmarket decor. This was most evident in the breakfast room and corridors leading up to it. Breakfast itself was a very good start to the day with plenty of choice. Staff were always polite and pleasant. Overall an excellent value for money place to stay. We would return.

Review of Meson Castilla April 2008

We stayed for 4 days at the beginning of April 2008. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel was clean and seemed well run. The pictures on the walls, the furniture and paintings on the wardrobes were quirky and gave the place real character - typical of Barcelona the city. The rooms are in need of a little refurbishment though. The front rooms can be a little noisy as the windows are not double glazed and the ageing widow frames allowed noise through from the street. On request we moved rooms and had a pleasant room at the rear with a balcony. Breakfasts are adequate. The hotel is quite well located - close to the Rambla, Catyluna Square, Universitat and therefore catching buses to anywhere in the city is easy. Overall the hotel provided good value for money.

Very central hotel - Clean, though a little on the small size, bedrooms. Excellent breakfast. Request a room not facing the street at the front of the hotel.
Good value.

I thought the hotel was lovely and quaint and had wonderful Spainish furniture and paintings. The location was excellent. It had a cute courtyard to have breakfast and thought the breakfast good. The rooms were quite small but adequate and clean. The receptionists were ok although not very friendly. I seemed to have been given a room that could hear every noise in the hotel including showers and toilets being used. One morning some guests were leaving early and the noise they made was horrendous - only real bad thing I could say about Meson Castilla. All in all though a very enjoyable stay.

this hotel was full of character. staff were so helpfull and friendly advising you where to go and who to avoid on the ramblas.i.e. pickpockets and traders, card players. maybe not the best situated as sometimes felt a little quiet on walking home but most city back streets are the same. rooms lovely, eating area spotless. would definatly return.
