Fantastic honeymoon
19 April 2008
We went to Granada for our honeymoon and what a great choice. The hotel was excellent, we have stayed in the Melia hotels before in other areas and never been disappointed. Didn't eat there we tried the tapas bars, but breakfast was very good with a good choice of hot and cold food. Staff ok. The hotel is centrally based for shops bars night life no need for any transport, and the bus to the airpiort is only 3 euro. Will stay again and reccommend to all age groups.

A ' grand day out' in Granada
16 February 2008
What a great 2 days we had in Granada and especially in Melia Granada. Rooms were great, spacious and a fantastic view of the Alhambra Palace. Bathrooms very spacious... the two sinks are a great idea! Breakfast was great, everything imaginable was available and really filled us up. One little complaint, and if this had been granted we would have awarded 5/5, we wanted to print off our return check in vouchers for flight and were told that they did not offer a printing service, this needs to be sorted for the independent traveller!

Review of Melia Granada
14 November 2007
Very nice hotel and centrally situated, pleasant room and comfortable- Good choice for breakfast. Overwhelming smell and clouds of smoke as you enter reception at night when the bar was busy-very uncomfortable for non-smokers like us. Reception staff were not particularly friendly either at check in or check out. Good value only at a discounted rate.

Review of Melia Granada
30 July 2007
Wonderful Hotel in heart of Granada & close to the Cathedral, The Alhambra Palace and most of the tourist trails.
The hotel has very friendly and welcoming staff, excellent food and a relaxing bar. The bedroom was very spacious with aircon and a well fitted en-suite.
Valet parking of the car is really good and efficient and the cost of 17 euros for 24 hours is worth it.
Overall an excellent hotel for a short break in this lovely city.

Melia Granada
07 May 2007
This was our first visit to Granada so we were extremely pleased that the hotel was so well situated. It was 5 minutes walk to the Cathedral and about 10-15 minutes walk to the Alhambra.
The hotel was extremely clean, comfortable and suited our needs. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The choice of food at breakfast was good but a kettle in the room would be an advantage.
Very much enjoyed our stay and would return.

Review of 'MELIA GRANADA'
10 April 2007
Our first trip to Granada and the perfect hotel base from which to explore this amazing city. Situated right in the centre and surrounded by historic sites, great shops and, most importantly, dozens of friendly litle tapas bars. The hotel is clean and welcoming with a good standard of accommodation and the price included a very comprehensive breakfast choice. We would have no hesitation in recommending the Melia and will return at some stage. Only down side - we wish Spanish hotels would provide complimentary teas and coffees in your room and there was a lack of tourist information. However these are only very minor issues. Finally, visiting the Alhambra is a must but involves a steep walk. Recommend getting the local bus up and walk back through the Albayzin, which is stunning.

The Melia Granada is a well located hotel to all amenities and major sites. The room was spacious and comfortable plus we were fortunate to get our own balcony. Breakfast was a treat, spoilt for choice. The service by the reception staff was efficient in their own 'no nonsense' manners.

The Melia Granada hotel was in a prime location within walking distance to the Cathederal. On arrival we caught the bus at the airport for only 3 Euro each and only had to walk for 3 mins to the hotel. The hotel was spotless and maid service excellent. The breakfast on offer each morning was varied and plentiful. The staff however, could have been a little more pleasant!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The hotel was centrally located, close to cathedral, shops and bars.It was easy to find using the airport bus (3 euros to Puerta Real). The staff were pleasant and helpful. the buffet breakfast set us up for the day.The rooms were comfortable and well furnished, as you would expect from a 4 star hotel.Visitors must see the Alhambra and the Albaycin area opposite (use the mini-buses from Plaza Nueva). If we don't return to Granada we would certinly try to use Melia Hotels again.

Review of 'MELIA GRANADA'
20 March 2007
The hotel was ideally situated in the centre of Granada, not far from the Cathedral, the Capilla Real and the main shopping area. The airport bus dropped us off in the Puerta Real close to the hotel and it was easy to find from there. The staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms were large and clean. Unfortunately, the air conditioning/heating system made the rooms rather stuffy at night and there was a lot of noise in the street outside so we didn't want to keep the window open.

Review of 'MELIA GRANADA'
18 March 2007
Whilst I cannot fault the location of the hotel, the facilities or the quality of the food (based on two good breakfasts) I feel that some of the rooms may not be of a standard expected from this class of hotel.
Relaxing in our (5th floor) room after checking in (valet parking expensive but most welcome) we found it quite warm. The obvious step to take was to turn on the "air conditioning". Not so! This started blowing warm air into an already stuffy room. My call to maintenance brought a member of staff to the room who explained that the system was for room heating not cooling (despite being labelled "air conditioning") and the solution was therefore to turn it off. After a very uncomfortably stuffy night (with the window wide open) we asked to be moved to another room because of the heat. Reception did not seem very surprised at this and found us another cooler though smaller room without acknowledging that there was a problem.
I would advise anyone booked here to check the functioning of the "air conditioning" before settling into their room -especially in the summer months!

Great location, nice spacious room, very efficient staff and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. 26 February 2007
The hotel is in a fantastic position and very convenient for popping back during the day. We had room 441 which is a good sized corner room. We had breakfast and found it to be nicely presented and with a good choice. The only negative I can say about this hotel is about the noise from outside. There's a bottle bank at the side of the hotel which is very noisy and is used at all hours. Also, like many city locations, people congregate out in courtyards until the early hours, chatting and laughing. Granada is good for a city break but unless you intend to travel around, I would limit your stay to 2 or 3 nights. When visiting the Alhambra, take the little bus that stops at the foot of the VERY steep hill - probably the best euro you'll ever spend!

The SolMelia Hotel is situated in an excellent location in the centre of Granada. Our room was very spacious, clean and tidy. A nice selection of bathroom accessories. The reception area is impressive and the staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast provided a good choice of hot and cold fayre. There is a good selection of tapa bars and restaurants in a street just behind the hotel called Calle Navas. The Nuevo Restaurant was the pick of them. Tips: Get a taxi to the Alhambra, although it is only a short distance away, its uphill and will take you more than half an hour to walk. After the Alhambra get a taxi to San Cristobal and the Albyzin which has spectacular views over the Palace and Granada. Ask the driver to take you to the cave house there as well. The taxi drivers are very helpful and will wait for you while you take in the views etc. we had the taxi for about 45 mins and the bill was only 16 euros! The taxi provide a car valet service. They take your car off you at the front entrance on arrival and park it up for you. They charge 17 euros per 24 hours. There is a secure car park next to the hotel which you can park there yourself and that is 14 euros a day. All depends whether you want to cart your luggage around or not for the extra 3 euros. Have a walk along the banks of the river which is nearby. The hotel reception give you a good street map on arrival. Arrival and departure was quick and professional. Room service and cleanliness was good. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay in Granada. It is all you expect from a 4 star Hotel. A big thanks to www.alpharooms.com as well, not used them before and was very impressed with all payment arrangements and room requests which were acknowledged.

Review of 'MELIA GRANADA'
18 December 2006
Just returned from an excellent break in Granada. The Melia Granada is in an excellent location & is 5 mins walk from the cathedral & all of the shops, bars & restaurants that Granada has to offer. The road directly parallel (behind) the hotel has loads of typical Spanish bars & restaurants all serving cheap beer & tapas - really good to get into the local culture. About 20 min walk to the Alhambra Palace - which looks much further on the map! The hotel (& Granada) is very Spanish, so the staff & locals don't have much English - take your phrase book with you! The hotel lobby is very inviting & grand. The bar has a good vibe & the service is very good. Breakfast was superb - loads of choice. The room was spacious & spotlessly clean with Sky News, lots of Spanish channels, a nice bathroom & big wardrobe. The rooms are quite noisy - but after a few beers, we had a great nights sleep every night & were not disturbed by any noises. All rooms have safe & air con, which is good & hotel also has a room to store cases after you have checked out. We went skiing in Sierra Nevada while we were there - 40 mins on the bus from Granada Bus Station. We hired all our equipment when we got there - it was really reasonable - 22 euros for skis, boots & poles for 1 day and 35 euros for the ski pass. 11km of runs are open all season, due to the snow canons & more if there is real snow falling. All in all, our mini break was great & we only have good things to say about Granada & Melia Granada hotel (especially as the hotel only cost us £185 for 4 nights!).

The hotel was easy to find from the ring road round Granada as it was signposted all the way. Dissapointed that the hotel did not have free parking so had to pay fifteen euros in the adjacent car park. The quality of the room was very good and the friendly staff.
Overall we really enjoyed the hospitality in this central location.

I selected this hotel because of good previous reviews. The hotel was excellent, spotlessly clean, with courteous staff. The breakfasts were good quality with a huge choice. The only thing I would say was lacking was tea and coffee making facilities in the room, but you could buy these downstairs. The hotel is very centrally located with lots of shops, bars , restaurants etc in the vicinity. The department store "el corte ingles" is 300 metres away - reminds me of the House of Fraser - with very cheap booze , bearing in mind the non existant duty free facilities in the (tiny)Granada airport.Got a cab from the airport , and it cost 25 euros. Dont miss the Albacin district for the views over to the Alhambra and the Moroccon shops. The Alhambra itself is unmissable.I used a cab to visit -very cheap. I loved Granada, and fely very safe in the city. Would visit again and use this hotel.

HOTEL IS IN A GOOD CENTRAL POSITION, ROOMS ARE QUITE SMALL BUT NICE AND CLEAN ALSO THE STAFF ARE PLEASANT AND HELPFUL, NO COFFEE OR TEA MAKING EQUIP IN ROOMS WHICH IS BAD FOR A FOUR STAR IN THIS DAY AND AGE! BREAKFAST WAS NOT BAD, PLENTY OF VARIETY, HOT AND COLD, BUT THE USUAL HOTDOG TYPE SAUSAGE! AND EXTRA FATTY BACON. NICE BAR AREA AND RESTAURANT. I WOULD STAY IN THE MELIA AGAIN.

Hotel was ideal although a pool would have been nice. Ideally situated for seeing the city, an open top bus stops over the road which is good value as you can hop on and off for 24 hours enabling you to explore the city. good nightlife available in all streets nearby particulary behind the hotel were there is a street with lots of tapas bars.

This is a very nice Hotel and is in very central but quiet location, great for shopping and the sights. The staff are very helpfull and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are larger than the average hotel room and beautifully decorated, with the biggest mirror I have ever seen in a bedroom! The Airport bus drops you off just accross from the hotel for only 3 Euros. There is a very good bar/resturant accross the road which stops open untill the small hours. It is only 5 Euros in a Taxi to the Alhambra from the hotel which is well worth it as there is a very steep climb upto it.

The location in Granada of the Melia Hotel is excellant, but although right in the centre it is positioned just off the main road so it is quiet and peaceful. The rooms, including bathroom are spacious and well furnished, typical 4 star quality. The buffet breakfast is also as you would expect, plentiful and good quality. My only complaint is the charge for car parking, 15 euro's per day. We were there for two days so the extra charge of 30 euro's was, I thought, a bit steep.

Don't think we could have made a better choice of hotel. The hotel staff, rooms, facilities, food and location were all superb. The only problem was that the hotel bedroom was very very warm but with a temperature of 13 degrees outside the locals did seem to think it was extremely cold. The hotel is within walking distance to the Alhambra but it is reached via a steep roadway so taking a bus from the Plaza Neuva which costs 95 cents each way and which are every few minutes is advisable. A visit to a tapas bar is a must and all those we visited did offer free tapas with drinks. Would most certainly recommend a short break to Granada and the Melia Hotel.

This hotel deserves it's 4 stars. From the moment you check in, to your departure they can't do enough for you. If you join the hotel chains reward scheme you get free late check out till 4pm on every visit. Join at www.solmelia.com. The rooms are immaculate and very spacious. The hotel is centrally located. Just behind is a street full of nice tapas bars. The main shopping area is only 2 minutes walk away. It is quite easy to get to with a coach from the airport dropping you off 100 yards from the entrance (only 3 euros each way). Granada is a lively place to visit. Most bars give you free tapas each time you order a drink. They can range from olives to king prawns. It is still very Spanish and not everybody speaks English but this all adds to the fun.
