Melia Costa Del Sol
16 November 2007
Just returned on 14th November. Hotel is in excellent location and is spick and span clean. Every room has sea view and a view that is a welcome sight on a morning. The beach is a stones throw away and is flood lit on a night so can take a nice walk before bed. Plenty of tourist shops and little care's on beach front. in town is not really for the elderly or disabled as still lots of steps once out of the lift but some lovely littl shops (don't buy perfume as cheaper here) Food excellent range, although not to my taste as am typical english girl. Head waiter Julian though was a breath of fresh air with a fantastic personality. Excellent Bistro about 100yds away BISTRO EUROPA, ex english food and service. Lift was hard to find and man a little creepy who ran it! Overall an excellent break, no doubt will use Melia again and Alpha Rooms as just as described and Transfers booked were also on time and easy to use.

Melia Costa del Sol
12 November 2007
Just returned from an 8 day break to this hotel, we do favour melia hotels and have stayed in several, this did not disapoint. As most people have said, hotel very clean and tidy and staff very efficient and friendly. Ideally situated right on the front, it was lovely lying in bed being able to see the beach and sea, the town straight behind you, took us a while to find the lift as it is not very well signposted, and we trailed up the steps. A lovely walk into Benalmadena which we did several times, and took the train (which was ideal and very reasonable) to Fuengirola. Food was fine, although the evening meal could have been a little warmer, maid service excellent. Thanks to other reviews we found the Irish Affair and enjoyed many an evening there. On the whole an excellent choice and would definately go back, enjoying yet another holiday with Alpha Rooms.

Review of 'MELIA COSTA DEL SOL'
20 June 2007
As most people here have said, the hotel is very clean and tidy, with helpful staff - rooms are quite large from my experience, and have good furniture, a fairly large TV (not many UK stations though) and large comfortable beds.
All rooms do have a sea view, the best ones obviously being at the front of the two buildings.
Each room has a free security safe.
There was a mini-bar/fridge, which we emptied so we could put our own (much cheaper!) liquid refreshments in :-). There was also a handy little ice-maker (free) in the corridoor by the lifts (Very Handy!)
The food was good and we found it hot and was constantly being re-freshed, but sometimes there was not much choice, they certainly don't cater specifically for the Brits, which in itself is not a real complaint - if you want ham egg and chips go up the road!
There is a pool at the front of the hotel but this does end up partly in the shade in the afternoon (It did in June anyway), and for any parents thinking of going, I saw no lifeguard or hotel employee keeping an eye on things.
The only real disapointment was the entertainment, most nights they simply have a 'resident' duo playing, with a couple of nights with some dancers. The whole area seemed to lack any real holiday entertainment, and for us was a bit of a let down, certainly compared to other 4* hotels we have stayed in.
There is a lift behind the hotel and this takes you up the cliff to the main part of the town which takes about 10 mins. The rail station in the centre of the town gives a regular half hourly service to Malaga and Fuengirola etc. and this was very reasonably priced.
We got taxi's to and from the airport, these cost us 15 euros each way and takes about 10-15 mins. Be advised that they do charge a bit extra on a Sunday (3 euros I seem to remember) but still quite reasonable.
There is a taxi rank opposite the hotel.
To sum up - A really nice comfortable hotel with good food, but not a lot of entertainment. The area was not noisy or full of drunks etc. and the beaches are large with some fine, sometimes gritty sand, but they were extremely well looked after, as was the whole area.

My husband and I booked a Junior Suite as we were travelling with our two grandchildren. We cannot fault the service we received or the food, both were excellent. The only recommendation we would have for this hotel when you book a Junior Suite with a boy aged 8 and a girl aged 11years is to do away with the bed settee as this is not suitable for a male and female of these ages to sleep together on what I would describe as a very lightweight single bed - they definitely should provde twin beds for these children.

We have stayed in several hotels in Torremolinos but we have found the Hotel Melia to be the best by far . It's location is ideal, right on the seafront and close to the main town and train and bus stations. It is quite a climb to the town but there are two lifts available nearby. The hotel itself is very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The staff are very helpful and the rooms are well furnished with T.V and minibar, smoking rooms are available. All rooms have a seaview. The catering is very good, we were on half board, and there is an excellent choice of foods to suit any taste on a buffet style basis. I must admit that the evening entertainment was rather limited but as it was early in the season I was not too surprised. I would say that this hotel is more for the 30+ holidaymaker as there did not seem to be much for childrens entermainment and the pool area was not very big.

We certainly enjoyed our visit last week. The room was very clean. On the half board basis, both breakfast and dinner were superb. The only thing not on highest level was a strong wind some days, but of course that is out of control of the hotel.

Just returned from a week at the Melia and loved everything about it. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and kept spotlessly clean. Attended the New Year's Eve Gala Dinner and had a wonderful time. Dining room offered a great selection of food which was well cooked and presented but let down by some dishes not being hot enough. Overall loved this hotel and would return. Booked through Alpharooms and was very impressed with service and price.

Just back from Torremolinos, booked entirely by ourselves. It was easy and inexpensive. The Hotel was booked with Alpharooms.com and the short taxi transfer was just17 euros from the airport and 14 euros from the resort. The Melia Costa del Sol lived up to its 4 star rating. The room was big compared with other 4 * hotels where we have been for either business or pleasure. The aircraft crews use this hotel. The hotel did provide entertainment in the bar each day and at night. We both enjoyed the 2 girls both named Begonia who had great patience trying to teach us Spanish lessons and spanish dancing. We booked on a half board basis and found the food very good , with plenty of choices on all courses. The hotel is ideally situated , on the sea front, for both the town centre and to nearby Benalmadena.Walking to Benalmadena and the other way towards Malaga is on the longest promenade we have come across. A trip to all of the surrounding towns is easy with both the train and bus services costing around 1 euro each way and running every half hour. Malaga is well worth a visit. The old city is a maze of narrow streets and beautiful buildings. There is a train from Torremolinos to the centre of Malaga that runs every 20 minutes or so and the cost very inexpensive. In all a very good break and well worth the effort of "doing it all yourself".Atrip to the Irish Affair nearby is certainly worth a visit especially to see Patrick perform. An extremely friendly and well run bar nearby.

Review of 'MELIA COSTA DEL SOL'
21 December 2005
Booked 3 nights from the 13th of December, This hotel is lovely, Very Very clean, and reception staff were very friendly. Our room overlooked the pool, which is at the front of the hotel overlooking the beach. Beds were very comfortable, and the room was a good size, it has a mini bar which contains the usual things and quite a reasonable price. The dining room is on the 1st floor, and we were suprised to be asked if we wanted Smoking or no Smoking table - the food is very spanish, but of very good quality. The vegetables are not the hottest but there is a microwave so I suggest you get those first then warm them up before getting your meat etc. Breakfast again is quite spanish but well cooked and hot. We even had champagne for breakfast, you can just help yourself. As it was December they had a duo on every other night for entertainment, but as there was nobody in the bar it was a bit embarassing sitting there on our own! There is very easy access to the town centre - go out of the hotel and turn right, a few yards up the street is a lift, or if you go out and turn left the first street you come to is a windy up hill street so far up you will see some steps to what looks like residential flats go up there turn left and there is a lift to the town as well 50cent each. or you could walk up the street to the top - lots of little shops and bars. The main shopping is in the Cala San Miguel again with lots of bars, cake and coffee shops and designer and tat shops all mixed up, loved it. we arranged transfers from the airport with Alpha Rooms and were met as we came out of arrivals and whisked to a car and within 15 minutes were checking in at the hotel, cost £17 each way but well worth it.
