GOT A ROOM AT BACK OF HOTEL,WITH A VERY BAD SHABBY VEIW.AND I LOT OF NOISE DURING THE NIGHT COMING FROM WHAT I THINK WAS THE BOILER HOUSE WHICH MEANT WE GOT VERY LITTLE SLEEP ASLO THE SKIRTING BOARD IN OUR ROOM WAS BLACK WITH DIRT IN THE CORNERS. ALSO THE BREAKFAST WAS NOT GREAT.THAT ALL SAID IT WAS VERY GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY, AND VERY CONVIENT TO DUBLIN CITY CENTRE AS WE GOT THE BUS JUST OUTSIDE THE HOTEL, THE SAFF WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND BAR PRICES WERE NOT TOO BAD .

Skylon staff excel

28 June 2008
Stayed with hubby and 5mth daughter for 3 nights midweek. Staff went beyond their duty to ensure that our stay was a good one. If B&B booked, breakfast can be upgraded for a couple of Euro's to the full Irish. Food from Bar in evening excellent and not too pricey. I know where I'm staying next time I visit Dublin.

Skylon's the limit...

13 April 2008
Booked a hotel and flights with no idea about either - just really wanted to see Dublin and had a 3 year old to take along too. The hotel is very conveniently located with numerous buses to and from the airport. All buses also seem to go to O' Connell Street - the main throughfare for the city centre. Staff are very helpful and breakfast was good (not great) - it helps if you include it in the booking otherwise it's 15 euros pp. The rooms are well lit and serviced without promising great views - but all told it is excellent value for money. they also have a very good lunch and dinner menu and large screen if you miss the footy. Nice local eateries and a convenience store across the road make for a good place to stay.

GREAT VALUE

30 May 2007
After touring, we were four middle-aged gents spending just one day and night before flying home. Some building improvements did not detract from a pleasant stay. The staff were ffriendly and helpful, with thanks to the night porter who supplied us with drinks in the early hours. I can recommend the carvery for great qualitey at a reasonable price. Can't believe this hotel is only rated three stars. Will definitely stay here again.

We have stayed at the Skylon before, mainly because of its locality - near to the city - only 10 minutes on the bus and the buses run all the time as it is on the main route in from the airport.  However, this time we were very disappointed to find extensive building works.  Sixty new rooms being added on the back and the side of the existing hotel.  We were woken up on the first morning at 6.45 am with banging and hammering almost right outside our window.  We were moved right away when we complained.  But is it unfortunate that anyone should be put in these noisy rooms at all.

This hotel was exactly how it was described, great value for money, staff were extreamly polite and helpful, all in all for a great value hotel 30 mins walk from the city centre or a simple 5 minute bus ride.

We would certaintly use this hotel again next time we are going to dublin............ and would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a great value hotel....... Breakfast was also very good.

Skylon with a smile on

14 December 2006
After 4 years, Sharon made an honest man of me.
"5 days on honeymoon in Dublin?" I said, "Are you sure?" as I quickly looked up B&B's on the net.
"I've found one but the price may be wrong; it's a hotel for the price of a B&B"."
And what a hotel!
Set well back on the Drumcondra Road; a bus stop outside and a 15 minute journey to the Airport; a bus stop opposite and just 10 minutes to O'Connell Street and the centre of Dublin.
Coutyeous, smiling helpful staff. A comfortable room to accommodate Sharon's smoking habit with all facilities, a breakfast that was hanging off the plate and so beautifully cooked and presented, it was almost a crime to stick a knife and fork into it.
the lounge and dining facilities were comfortable and relaxed with areas to watch sports on large LCD screens or engage in other social pursuits.
Irish diplomacy is sometimes described as having the ability to tell someone to go to hell so that they'll look forward to the trip.
And we were told where to go!
How to get a 3 day bus pass for 10.50 euro each, sights, restaurant areas, (although the hotel fare was more than equal to it's downtown competition)and local events.
Thank you Skylon for making our short trip so enjoyable.

Excellent value for money, near the port and airport.

One word of caution!   The name on the front of the hotel is the Dublin Skylon which makes life a little more difficult in trying to find it!
