whats' gone wrong
05 October 2008
This is the second time i have stayed here this year.First time everything was perfect, but this time the food was awful and always cold, alot of people complaining.
The hotel itself is lovely, clean rooms and helpful staff, but food, forget it.

Young Family Holiday

Very impressed with hotel overall. Clean and tidy room, not huge but adequate. Staff in restaurant lovely with our 15 month old son at mealtimes! Food - hot, fresh and lots of choice. Good location for beach and shops.Varied entertainment at resort every night, a bit noisy but not too annoying. Would definitely recommend hotel and consider going back.

Good Hotel
13 July 2008
We stayed in the Marinada the first week in July, this is a lovely hotel very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is situated just a short distance from the main road and less than 10 minutes from the beach. We were in room 225 which faces the street, we are not sun seekers and were blessed with having a canopy of trees giving us shade on the balcony, may not suite everyone but for us was great. The bedroom while clean is a bit dated and really is the only reason I did not give the Marinada 5 'Alfies'. There are no drawers for 'smalls' etc. The bathroom is a good size and has a 1400 hairdryer. Household came in everyday and changed the towels if necessary. I really do miss having Tea/coffee making facilities in Spanish hotels!! The pool area is lovely, there is crazy golf, a pool table and other game table in this area. The evening entertainment was held out here and although we did not see much of it the other guests seemed to enjoy it. We were on half board and have never seen such a wide choice at either breakfast or dinner in any other hotel we have stayed in Spain - including a 4* we stayed in in Salou 2 years ago. They have a 'theme' night every night and offer speciality dishes and the staff dress accordingly. There was only one item one evening where we felt the need to use the microwave in the restaurant to heat it up. There is an indoor pool and hot tub in the basement - swimming hats required here. There is also a scales in the reception area where you can weigh your luggage to make sure you are not overweight if flying on Ryanair etc!!!!
Salou is a lovely resort, they have a tourist 'train' going around the resort all day it will even take you to Port Avenutra. Watch out for reps for the public transport system - they were yellow visability jackets and hand out leaflets on day trips to Barcelona, Tarrangona, local markets and Montserrat. Their day trips and considerably cheaper than the prices quoted by holiday reps and other tour opertors.

Great vacation!
18 June 2007
The hotel was a wonderful experience. The food was good. It was traditional Spanish food, which some people werent used to. However the deserts were absolutely fabulous.
The rooms were somewhat small, but all we did was sleep and shower in them. I do wish the rooms had more of a directory. There was nothing. Not even a bible. There were 2 computers in the lobby for internet access however, they never seemed to be operational.
The lobby, pool, bar was fabulous. There was tons of stuff for kids to do just at the hotel and surrounding area in walking distance. The hotel had alot of shows and it was really nice. The staff is very friendly and spoke good english. The beach was about a 5-7 minute walk and was beautiful.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel.

Absolutely Brilliant
03 May 2007
People who leave any bad reviews on this Hotel are more likely to spend there holidays in a 5 star Gold hotel. This hotel should be rated higher than a 3, it's ultra clean, staff very friendly, food out of this world, buffet style, different choice every evening, and loads of it. Salou it's self is fantastic, kids will love it, buy tickets for the park at home on the internet to save you money. Beaches are brilliant, walk towards Cap Salou and find some smaller and more private beaches. The only downside to the holiday was Stansted Airport.

stayed at Salou 3 times in 1 year.chose this during one of the visits as the location was excellent. Its near the main street,no hills to climb and also quiet.the appartments are opposite and provide good sociable happy hour every night. Food is good. Rooms are clean. Ammenities couldn't be better. It would be my choice to stay here if I was to visit Salou again.

Was pleasantly surprised with the hotel. Have two children aged 4 and 2, the accomodation was good and the buffet service was a good standard. Only downfall on food was that not enough vegetarian options and having children who love Pasta with a tomato sauce, was dissapointed they only served this on one evening. Location was close to beach and all Salou and the taxi and bus services are excellent. Hotel was a short bus ride to Port Aventura and approx 15 mins to AquaoPolis/ La Pineda. Would recommend this hotel to people travelling with young children and would come again if we ever holidayed in Salou.

We are just back from the miranda and i think it was a wonderfull hotel. Staff were great rooms were clean. The only fla would be the food. It is very much aimed at the spanish but it was eatable. We felt that we didnt need to leave the hotel as there is everthing you need in it. Word of warning, we bought a 14day pass to the theme park and went 2 days for a couple of hours as the ques on to the rides were a min of 1hr. We were vey dissapionted. Aquapolisis was brilliant and we enjoyed 2 full days there. Loads for younger kids also. Entertainment in the hotel was great and the kids club was brilliant the kids loved it. If you are going to stay here, have a massage at the pool. It was wonderfull and only cost 10euro.

For the price we paid, we couldnt fault the hotel. The rooms were nice and spacious. The hotel itself was very well presented and the staff were very courteous! The location was good, as its set back from the hustle and bustle of Salou, which made it quiet at night, so you could get some sleep!! I would recommend this hotel and we are going back for another short break in the not so distant future!

Stayed at this hotel for the past 2 years quite often about 5 or 6 times a year on short breaks. Need I say anymore. Staff are very polite especially at checkin and found them very efficient and friendly. Hotel is very clean with a nice bar beside pool.Very close to shops and bars with nightclubs a 10 min walk away. Food at the hotel the last weekend wasn't up to much but this could be contributed by the dodgy stomach from the night before. Usually very good with plenty variations. Give it a go I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

I have recently returned from a 3 night stay at the Hotel Marinada. On arrival at the hotel the reception staff were extremely rude and i even had the hotel keys thrown at me. However the restaurant staff were very friendly and always spoke to us in a cheery manner. Bar staff/Pool lifeguards did not speak to us or any other guests so we noticed. The main thing is the hotel was very clean and tidy (after all, who spends all their time in the hotel?) There is not enough loungers by the pool to cope with the amount of guests at the hotel but Salou has a beautiful sandy beach where you can go and chill out. The hotel is in a fantastic location close to everything which was a bonus for us. All in all we did have a fantastic trip but would hesitate about staying at the Marinada again. We would book another Alpha Rooms hotel instead :-)

Very enjoyable stay at the Marinada. Hotel staff were efficient and friendly and the facilities were second to none. A good variety of buffet food for all tastes were on offer and drinks were reasonably priced. The rooms were clean with no shortage of hot water from a powerful shower. The outdoor pool was a little chilly but it was the end of October, the indoor pool made up for it, it was like a bath, lovelly!!! Would definitely recommend the Marinada and Salou great beaches and close to Port Adventura theme park, a great day out for all.

Arrived 11 am at the Marinada Hotel after our early morning flight and had immediate access to our rooms which were spotlessly clean - pretty basic (no tea-making facilities so bring your own travel kettle) but adequate - nice balcony with view of the pool. Friendly staff and lively atmosphere even at this time of year with happy hours and evening entertainment - no complaints from our 17 year old son and his friend, pool tables and table tennis kept them occupied when they weren't visiting Port Aventura and Aquopolis. Central position so ideal for our 4 night break.

The hotel is situated in an ideal position ie no hills, it is near the top of salou's main street.
the hotel is clean as an indoor pool and gym and lots of entertainment.
the hotels only downfall is its food, i have read some of the other reviews and i don't know what they are used to eating but as far as my party of 8 adults and 2 kids were concerned unless you were spanish forget it. even my sister who eats any thing found the food dreadful. take my advice stay the marinadas apartments, you can use all the hotels facilities but you can then eat out.

very nice hotel, in good location. Breakfasts good, and rooms comfortable. A little noise from the s/c block over the road, with poorly performing 1960's wannabee karaoke singers that have actually got hold of a machine - and put on shows for us tourists!!
ideal spot for Salou holiday - close to the main shops but not on top of them. I also found the receptionists a little offhand - but not rude! If staying in Salou again, I would go back to this hotel, and if possible book through Alpharooms - always a good service at the right price.

I just came back from my holiday yesterday. We found the hotel fantastic. Everything was really clean, the staff was fantastic and the food was great. All you can eat buffet (enjoyed the desserts!!) There was entertainment in the hotel bar every night which ranged from Flamenco dancers to karaoke which was great because i was there with my 2 year old daughter and didnt have to go far in the evenings to enjoy ourselves. My daughter had great fun. There was plenty to entertain her too. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. In fact i intend to go back in a very short time.

Just back from a great week at the Marinada. Hotel is spotless maids start at 9 am so no lie ins if your unlucky enough to be across from their work stations. Pool area very shaded by trees difficult to find sunny spots though beach is close by and is superb. Rooms are small but adequate, dining room and bar area excellant, Salou itself has loads to offer even though we didn't have our children with us I wouldn't hesitate to bring them next time.

We normally stay in the Calypso which is a sister hotel, I wish we had again this hotel cost more money the food was aimed at the Spanish rather than the English it was horrible. The entertainment was poor, the reception staff I feel were ignorant and the reception was poorly run, and the prices at the snack bar and bar were ok, the hotel has some good points it was very clean, quite and most of the staff were great.

My wife and I had a touring holiday in the car, and we stayed in eight hotels in total including those in France. Out of those eight, We had three hotels that we liked but the Marinada topped them all. Friendly staff, very clean throughout and well located. We didn't partake in the meals as times didn't suit us (we are an elderly couple). If I had to complain, it would be about noise the youngsters make in the corridors late at night. Overall we liked our stay and when we pass through again we will book the Marinada.

Review of 'MARINADA'
11 September 2005
Just come back from a stay in Marinada with my sister and children and we had a good time. Hotel is 20 minutes from Reus airport with frequent bus service or taxi from the hotel. Hotel clean and staff friendly with good range of activities for both children and adults. Rooms small with 4 beds request bunk bed if you have children gives a little more space. Food was ok but not varied enough except mediterranean night which was absolutely fabulous. Close to shopping and local amenities and buses to neighbouring areas such as tarragona, la pineda (nicer beaches and less crowded). Each town has a market day on different day where you can get some good bargains. Beaches walking distance. Not far from Port Aventura but only 2 buses an hour and cost 1.30 euros each for ages 4 and above each way (go to the main shopping road to get the buses more frequent from there).
Bad points - Indoor pool and jacuzzi absolutely stank and you have to pay extra to use sauna and gym. Salou can be overcrowded and a bit dirty. Rooms could do with a mini fridge (if they can find some space) and an iron in each room.

I have just came back from the Marinada Hotel yesterday and i can say that this hotel was one of the best hotels i have stayed in. The Hotel is very clean, friendly bar staff and really nice food. The only problem was when you are trying to sunbath you will have to move around because of the shade of the trees. But apart from that everything was excellent. Salou at night is very busy but there are many things you can do so you wont get bored. overall this hotel was 10/10 for me!

I had a pleasant stay the hotel was very clean and staff very friendly but there was just some thing's i was not pleased with .
1. Having to pay €3 extra a day for an iron .Most hotel have Iron's in each room .
2 Having to pay to use the sauna in the gym .This should be included in the price.
3 The choice of food was more or less the same most night and did not cater for none Spanish people .
4 Breakfast was way to early when you are away you don't want to be getting up to early .
5 We booked a room for 2 Adult and 2 Children what we got was a room with 4 single beds no room to swing a cat it was so small the phone was on the pillow on one of the beds .
Stayed in the Oasis Park Hotel last year there was an iron in every room great selection of food for all and everything in the gym was free no hidden charges.
