What our customers say
Chain hotels are good because they offer a standard level of comfort. They're bad because they lack soul and are boring. This hotel, by its design, manages to introduce some character that sets it apart from, say, the Fairmont (was Raffles Plaza).
Some review sites have people complaining about the noise from the atrium. The rooms are designed so you can't hear it inside unless you try very hard and even so, it doesn't go on all night.
The breakfast is good, although they can get ovewhelmed by numbers some times. Service is friendly and helpful.
The atrium is a good selling point. It helps keep the entire hotel lovely and cool, and feels very spacious. The rooms are well designed and comfortable.
Asia is one place (I'm from London) where 5-star hotels become afforable. Still a luxury though, but not impossible to afford as it would be in, say, London or NYC. So in Singapore I've stayed in quite a few 5-star hotels. Comparison??
Well, the Marin Mandarin is my favourite so far (I don't like being near Orchard Road) with the only drawback being its distance from City Hall MRT. It is walkable, and it's all through the aircon'd shopping mall, but it gets boring after a while. The Fairmont, an otherwise boring hotel, is much better situated. I used to also stay at the Fullerton when it was newly opened, but it's now much more expensive than, say, Marina Mandarin and imo isn't worth it. It is worth looking inside as a tourist though! Like The Raffles, really ;)
