Review of 'MARINA'
26 January 2007
Location: Very convenient for a short stay. Approx. 300 metres from Omonia Square Metro and 100 metres from the bus stop for the 51 bus to Kifissus bus station. Ideal for access to public transport to explore the city. We were able to walk to the Acropolis in about half an hour. The immediate area may look a little intimidating at first - a bit like Soho in London. But we walked about at all hours with no problems at all. Loads of local shops, bars and restaurants.
Reception: Efficient and friendly. Two lifts to all rooms.
Other facilities: No bar, but the hotel is surrounded by bars! The dining room was a little disappointing. Transparant plastic tableclothes. Breakfast was uninspiring and buffet style. Bread, cake, jam, yoghurt (I think!), cheese, cold meats, cereal, juice and weak coffee.
Rooms: We booked three singles. We received two twin rooms and a double, which was good. All had private bath or shower. The TV seemed to be satellite, but I could only find CNN News. One of the rooms was only just big enough for the twin beds pushed together. The other rooms were a good size.
Overall the Marina was good and well priced for a city centre hotel. But it was a little let down by it's breakfast.
