Bangkok is fabulous! But if you want clean, fresh air and quiet time this isn't the place for you! The Mandarin is placed very well to see all the sights but I still managed to get lost, even then hailing a TukTuk to take me wherever I wanted cost next to nothing. The hotel is lovely for a 3 star, all the public areas are spotless and quite opulent. The staff can't do enough for you, maybe they expect a big tip! The rooms were ok nothing extravagent about them, clean, big, huge beds! cable tv etc and very good room service. I had breakfast several mornings, be warned, there are some very strange things on offer, but hey your somewhere exciting so be a bit daring! I loved my stay at the Mandarin and for the money you cannot go wrong with this hotel. Just be ready for TukTuk drivers trying to persuade you to go with them for a tour, they'll just drag you round to shops were they will get paid for bringing you, generally in fuel tokens! But they are very friendly and you won't feel intimidated.
