1 night stay

09 June 2008
We attended a wedding outside Malaga and used it as our base. Service very friendly and efficient, luxurious hotel, small pool on rooftop adecuate for a short while to refresh the kids. Rooms tastefully decorated and plenty of room for the children in the quad room. Would recommend it and stay again.

Good value hotel

08 June 2008
Easy to find hotel - quite a plus in a Spanish city. Short walk to centre of old town. Reception Staff friendly and helpful with good English. Room a bit small for a 4 star hotel. Generally quiet though a bit of noise from next door room. Didn't take breakfast as better value in town, fixed price dinner good value and good food in a somewhat charmless restaurant. Service OK but mean with included wine! I'd recommend it and stay again

excellent hotel for a short break

11 March 2008
A four day mini break on a limited budget and the hotel added to the success of it. Could not be faulted, spacious, clean, free non alcoholic drinks in mini bar and great breakfast with plenty of choice. Area is fine, felt very safe. Everywhere within walking distance. Definitely go there again.

Pity about the location

20 February 2008
The room itself and the hotel staff would qualify for a higher rating but we were dissapointed with the location. Our room overlooked derelict buildings and a building site so it was better to have curtains drawn throughout. As the hotel was almost empty during our stay in mid February, it was devoid of atmosphere. Also, it was a good 10 minute walk to the real centre of Malaga and 10-15 minutes from the bus and train stations, so it was not as central as we were led to believe. Breakfast was poor for a four star and we didn't dine there as it was empty every night. It may well be a different story at a more popular time of year but we were a little dissapointed overall.

Malaga Centro

12 July 2007
Just returned from an eight-night stay at the Malaga Centro and would strongly recommend this hotel. It is not in the most salubrious area but is centrally placed for trains, buses, shops - particularly El Corte Ingles, museums etc. The rooms are spotlessly clean and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Breakfast is something to look forward to every day but perhaps the most surprising element was the quality of the evening meals. We ate in on two occasions. The food and service were both excellent. We would have expected to pay much more for such quality. What a pity that the hotel does not market its restaurant more successfully. But I suppose that most visitors to Malaga would not frequent that particular aea.

This hotel was beautifully furnished and the rooms particularly the bathrooms are very expensive. When we arrived there had been heavy rain and the car park had flooded so had to pay fifteen euros to park accross the road. The second night we found a space on the road outside to save this expense. The evening meal was served promptly and was tasty although it was fried food. Being a spanish speaker I pulled them up on the food and the second night was all fresh including an amazing mixed salad. Generally friendly and the staff were pleasant.

THE MALAGA CENTRO IS IN AN IDEAL POSITION TO VISIT THE CENTRE AREA OF MALAGA, ALSO CLOSE TO AN EXCELLENT RAILWAY SERVICE.THE HOTEL RECEPTION STAFF WERE VERY HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY AS WERE THE DINING ROOM STAFF.THE BUFFET BREAKFAST WAS EXCELLENT.WE HAD A DOUBLE ROOM WHICH WAS CLEAN AND WELL FURNISHED.THE MINI BAR HAS A SELECTION OF SOFT DRINKS THAT ARE FREE AND REPLENISHED DAILY.THE ROOM HAD AIRCON AVAILABLE.THE BATHROOM WAS LARGE WITH BATH/SHOWER AND DOUBLE SINK UNITSAND TOILETRIES AVAILABLE.THE ONLY REAL PROBLEM WE HAD WAS THAT THE TAPS AND SHOWER CONTROL WERE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO ACCESS  BECAUSE THE SCREEN COULD ONLY MOVE A SHORT DISTANCE AS IT WAS CLOSE TO THE SINK UNIT.

stayed one night, great room, massive bathroom, shower was poor, very central, 10 mins walk to train station, and just over 1euro fare to airport, that took 10 mins, and if you stayed on the train in 10 mins you could be in torremolinos, great breakfast, no safe in my room though, would stay again

The hotel is very attractive.  The foyer is large, airy & well appointed. The staff are very helpful & attentive.  The rooms are well equipped with complimentary soft drinks in a small refridgerator.  Good air conditioning in the rooms.  The bathrooms are vast & beautifully decorated in marble.  Again the rooms are very clean.  Breakfast was good with a wide range of buffet food for all tastes.
All in all a very good hotel, decorated to the highest standards.
The only bad point is the hotel advertises are car park however there is only space for about 15 cars & trying to gain access is virtually impossible.

We chose the Malaga Central because it was very near to were our daughter was living while at university there. We could not not fault the hotel at all, the rooms, the breakfast and the staff were all 1st class and was exceptional for the price we paid.  You could walk accross the bridge and be reach The Calle Larios shopping area in 10 minutes and reach the Picasso museum in another 10 minutes. It is the nearest good hotel to Malaga football stadium to which you can walk to in around 20 minutes. The only downside is the area, it is very run down , which is why the price of the hotel is so competive.

An absolutely first-class hotel. We could not fault it. The breakfast was fantastic with a huge choice. The rooms were spotless and all of the staff went out of their way to please us. Organisation of taxis etc. was perfect. The location is ideal, very close to the old town and cathedral. a brilliant hotel!

Very good hotel with friendly staff, clean and tidy throughout and good choice of food for breakfast. The hotel is very well situated for visiting the old part of the City and tourist attractions - just over the bridge outside the hotel and a few minutes walk to Picasso museum, cathedral etc.It has a secure car park which is a 'must have'if you are visiting Malaga by car - the car park is immediately behind the hotel with the only downside being the fact that you have to drive approximately 500 metres round a one way system to get there. There is a small swimming pool on the roof terrace which would probably be crowded in the summer if more than four people wanted to use it. But there are plenty of sun loungers on the roof terrace which offers splendid views across the City. We would definitely stay there again and can recommend Malaga Centro to other visitors.

Great position for centre ie Plaza Constitution 5 mins walk. Price through 'alpharooms' great. Buffet breakfast excellent. Room v. good. Staff very helpful especially 'Reception' Taxi from airport 'on meter' at busy time 13.50 euros. Beware taxi without meter ie 18 euros on a quiet 'festivo day' on our return to airport.

Review of 'MALAGA CENTRO'

23 September 2005
Malaga Centro was a 10 minute walk from the train station and as the name suggests it was very central and within easy reach of most tourist attractions and shops.  The surrounding area was a little run down but the hotel itself was clean and modern and the staff on reception were very polite and helpful.

The double room was fairly large and clean and the minibar which included only soft drinks was free. The bathroom was also clean and well equipped with bath, shower, bidet and double sink and provided with extras including comb, toothbrush with sachet of toothpaste as well as all the usual soaps and gels.

We had dinner in the restaurant in evening and again the service and the meal were excellent.

I would definitely recommend it.

Review of 'MALAGA CENTRO'

31 July 2005
You would assume that with a name like Malaga Centro, the hotel would be easy to find, how wrong would you be if driving to it in a hire car. Even with a route planner, the one-way system in Malaga is a nightmare. What should have taken about 20 mins from the airport maximum, took us over an hour of going round and round in circles. Now landed we checked only to find that we were lucky enough to have a parking space, this is in a secure compound at the rear of the hotel, luckily only a short trip into the one-way circuit again. The staff are very pleasant and very helpfull. Our double room was very nice although a few of the fixtures & fittings in the bathroom required maintenance. We had booked in for B & B, but decided to have our 1st nights evening meal in the hotel restaurant. The waiter service was excellent, but the quality and standard of the meal was poor and overpriced. However in contrast, breakfast is outstanding with a wide selection of fruits, cereals, meats, etc available.
The hotel is situated in what can only be described as a run down area currently going through a major regeneration project (along with most of Southern Spain) it probably got its 4 stars when it first opened, I think that 3 would be more appropriate now. On the upside as a 4 star B & B in the centre of a major city it is very good value for money. The center is only 5-10 mins walk, ensure that you collect a free map from reception. I would highly recommend eating at the El Rescoldo restaurant, located off the main street running from the piaza down towards the port, look for a large bronze statue of a dove & hand combined, the place is just past it. They have a excellent fish and meat menu, great service and reasonably priced (we ate there twice).
