Splendid

We stayed for a Saturday night as we had a concert booked in the city. Check in staff were very friendly and helpful, gave us a City Centre map and offered to reduce our Pallisades parking ticket by 50%! We paid only £6 for a 24 hr stay. Our room was very comfortable, warm and spacious, with extra fluffy towels! The breakfast was excellent.....including freshly squeezed orange, free range eggs, and very good quality sausage and bacon and proper bread! The service was very good. We liked the dining room....the whole building was old fashioned ' grand'!

An excellent City Centre Hotel - We had a £75ish Friday night rate (Bed & Breakfast). The location of the Burlington is fantastic with access to parking in the Pallasades opposite (£12.50 per 24 hrs) and New Street station being 2 minutes walk. The hotel used to be a rather shoddy and run down affair called the Midland Hotel which was all faded Victorian Splendour and it had a dodgy real ale Bar underneath full of beardy weirdy tree hugger types and students (shudder). The Burlington is more refined, keeping the best of the old Midland Hotel features whilst enjoying revitalised and altogether fresher feeling finishes and decor. The Rooms are clean and comfortable with better than average space (at least in our room). All the expected conveniences of a 4* rated hotel are in the room and on site. The real joy in this hotel for me was the breakfast; whereas every modern hotel I stay in these days has succumbed to the ubiquitous 'buffet breakfast', the Burlington still has a proper sit down 'silver service' breakfast with a menu that included kippers and smoked haddock as well as the traditional 'full English'. The Staff were efficient and friendly and the whole visit was thoroughly enjoyable. Highly recommended
